1  Other / Off-topic / Re: Things you used to eat as kid that now makes you want to puke! on: October 30, 2017, 04:25:02 PM
Today I found myself remembering stuff I used to eat as kid, even begging my mother to do, that nowadays I can't see myself eating, and even makes me wonder if I still have a liver and why I don't have diabetes for eating that!
Here's my list or weird stuff I fancied as a kid:

- Chicken hearts and livers.
- Egg cores shaken with sugar.
- Water mixed up with flour.
- Knorr cubes.

Had you experienced this feeling also? What was that thing you loved to eat but that now just sounds like a lousy idea?

eggplant. unless its from japan. but even then its hard to eat.

I don't believe in God, but also believe that life is beautiful. Each of us is architect of his own happiness. No God can change your life. When you understand this you will be easier to live.

Thought about that stuff a lot when I was younger, but I've put most of it to rest. Life can be decent though.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nova Exchange is Closing on: October 30, 2017, 03:46:18 PM
If you are a user of Nova Exchange, this concerns you:

Kindly note "Novaexchange" will have new owners and management effective April 2018, with major upgrades to the exchange to better handle scaling, stability and security.

For better management and security of customer funds we have decided to close down Novaexchange so that the users can withdraw all their funds with no participation/responsibility of action of the new management.

Preliminary plan:
2017-10-30 This information goes public, user registration closes, addcoin page closes, disabling deposits of ETC and ETH
2017-11-30 Deposits disabled for ALL coins, all users get level 3 verified account level
2017-12-15 ONE last deposit scan to take care of deposits made after 2017-11-30
2018-01-31 Email reminder to all registered users
2018-02-28 Trading engine stops, dice game stops, API stops
2018-03-31 Login stop, website replaced with information
2018-04-15 Support closes, all Novaexchange user data removed

Remaining user balances that has not been withdrawn before 2018-04-01 will be considered a donation and is not refundable.

I wish I had got in earlier on this. D:

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / [ANN] [ICO] FundCru: The Blockchain-powered, Commercialized Fundraising Platform on: October 28, 2017, 01:59:59 AM
FundCru
The blockchain-powered, commercialized fundraising platform

Quote
Hi BitcoinTalk,

We're excited to announce FundCru, the blockchain-powered, "commercialized" fundraising platform. We are based in Silicon Valley (Santa Clara, California) and have been developing our smart contracts and core technologies since 2015.

Our team is highly experienced: our most notable members are the co-founder and former CTO of Vormetric and the former CEO of Make-A-Wish, an international non-profit organization.

We have much in store already and hope that with the funds raised through our ICO (starting on December 5, 2017 at 13:00 UTC), we'll be able to revolutionize fundraising.

Below is a brief overview of FundCru. Please visit our site for more information.

We also encourage the community to read our whitepaper for more details on our smart contract and system implementation as well as token utilities.

We appreciate any feedback and discussion and are happy to answer questions!

Best,
FundCru Team

About FundCru
FundCru is the blockchain-powered, “commercialized” fundraising platform that funds causes through eCommerce sales (comprising gift cards, vouchers, and coupons) and direct donations using both cryptocurrency and fiat money. FundCru is designed to address the problems that stem from inefficiencies in fundraising and customer loyalty programs.

FundCru stands at the crossroads of the multi-billion dollar fundraising and gift card industries. Currently, online and offline fundraising efforts still face significant limitations, including inefficient fundraising methods, high operational costs, and reliance on donations. FundCru aims to solve these issues by funding causes through merchant sales in addition to donations. Combined with a novel business model, FundCru connects merchants and cause-supporters through a common thread, fundraisers, and thereby improves customer loyalty.

On FundCru, supporters will be able support their favorite fundraising campaigns by either 1) purchasing from an onboarded merchant, 2) through direct donations, or 3) through "engagement" and promoting and sharing the campaign on social media. Transactions can be made using cryptocurrency or fiat money, depending on the merchant and/or fundraiser. If a supporter chooses to purchase from a merchant, he/she will then be able to select any fundraiser on the platform for FundCru send funds to.

FundCru will not charge fundraisers any platform fees on any funds received.

FundCru will also provide fundraisers with additional revenue sources by funding them with a percentage of merchant sales (typically 25%).

For more information on our business model, please see our whitepaper.

Blockchain

FundCru’s main contribution to the blockchain ecosystem is that all gift cards, coupons, and vouchers that are sold are implemented and managed entirely as smart contracts on the Ethereum blockchain, regardless of whether they were purchased using fiat money or cryptocurrency. These smart contracts follow standard financial exchange protocols, so they can be transacted easily using QR codes.

Once these smart contracts have been deployed, customers and businesses can transact just as they normally would while knowing that all currency storage and transfers occur without any reliance on centralized services or third-party entities, including FundCru itself. This ensures compliance, scalability, and security.

Roadmap

November 2017: FundCru platform is open for special fundraisers. (More news to come)
Q2 2018:  Early production launch for beta testing
Q3 2018: Production Launch 1.0
Q4 2018: Production Launch 2.0. Third-party applications can use FundCru API as standard financial exchange protocol

Team

CEO: Duc Pham (Co-Founder and former CTO of Vormetric)

6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin be replaced by another cryptocurrency? on: October 27, 2017, 10:33:36 PM
Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

It seemed that a lot of people were skeptical of bitcoin, and some bitcoin traders were even skeptical of whether the recent fork would render Bitcoin obsolete. it seems that btc is very resilient, but it may be too soon to tell.
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why people are holding Bitcoin? on: October 27, 2017, 10:06:17 PM
What makes people compel to hold the bitcoin in this critical situation? What are they waiting for? Any good reason?

it seems like it will be useful in the future. On top of this, most other people seem to feel the same, so the value (hopefully) will keep going up.
8  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do we keep converting bitcoin back to dollars ? on: October 27, 2017, 04:05:41 AM
It's almost like we don't value it for itself, but what it's worth in "real" money.

It's probably because bitcoin has not caught on with a large majority of the world. As such, most people do not hold bitcoin to the same value that many crypto-traders do. Bitcoin seems to be viewed more as an asset that has value only because other people, although a small number, also agree that it does. So probably until enough people are using bitcoin, people will always have to convert it back to fiat currency.
