2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / blockchain layoffs? on: December 02, 2018, 10:29:12 PM
Hi All,
I heard about steemit layoffs and wondering if more layoffs are coming in the developer community.
I can expect some layoffs in the exchanges because they probably hired a lot during the peak.
Thanks so much
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: crypto careers? on: November 26, 2018, 04:27:28 AM
Blockchain developers are the most sought after job in tech and not relating to cryptocurrencies  eg in chain supply, medicine, banking etc because getting an experienced and highly skilled developers is not easy to come by thus you can use this available opportunity to become one, you can visit technical section of the forum there are available links to valuable information leading to becoming a developer.

I visited the bitcoin technical section but could not find the links. Please post the section or the links. Thanks so much.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / crypto careers? on: November 21, 2018, 06:21:16 PM
Hi All,
I was thinking of starting a career in blockchain projects either as a core developer or a DAPP developer.
But looking at the recent slump and disappearing ICO market, I am having doubts.
Please advise me. Thanks so much.

8  Local / India / blockchain technology in India on: May 29, 2018, 03:27:32 AM
How is the blockchain technology scene in India currently given the bans and uncertainty?
My question is about technology adoption, blockchain development, startups etc and NOT about trading and exchanges.
Thanks

10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ETH competitors on: May 28, 2018, 05:46:25 PM
Hi,
I know is NEO is competing with ETH and already has few ICOs.
Who else is competing with ETH as a platform and how is their future looking like?
Thanks so much
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: receiving coins from ICO is taxable? on: April 26, 2018, 05:11:57 PM
Hi,
This question is for USA residents only.

I understand that tax must be paid whenever there is income.
For example, lets say I bought ETH yesterday at $600.
Today I invested in an ICO that allows US residents.
Lets assume ETH reached $650 today.
I have to report $50 as income even though I exchanged one coin to another without converting to fiat.
But in the video he says receiving coins from an ICO is taxable.
That is what I don't understand.
Thanks so much
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / what came first: block or the coin? on: April 26, 2018, 04:56:21 PM
Hi,
I understand that a block consists of transactions which will have the serial number of the currencies exchanged.
Those currencies must have been created when earlier blocks were mined as new coins are awarded after a new block is created.
So in 2009, when Satoshi created the first block, what did the transactions record about as there were no BTC created yet?
Because he awarded himself 50 BTC after he created the first block.
Thanks so much
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / where will transactions go after 21million? on: April 26, 2018, 06:14:39 AM
I read that bitcoin has a limit of 21million blocks and after that miners can earn income from fees?
I understand that blocks contain transactions.
After 21million if no more blocks are created, then where will the new transactions be recorded?
Thanks so much
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / receiving coins from ICO is taxable? on: April 20, 2018, 05:59:44 PM
Hi,
In this video https://www.cnbc.com/video/2018/04/16/fundstrats-tom-lee-makes-the-case-for-a-big-bitcoin-rally-post-tax-day.html?play=1

Around 0:46 seconds thru the video, Tom Lee says that "as soon as you receive coins from an ICO, that is taxable" .
I thought when you invest in an ICO, that is taxable because the price of ETH might be higher at the time of investing in ICO than when you actually bought the ETH.
Just receiving coins from ICO should not be taxable until you actually sell the coins.
Any thoughts on this, please?
Thanks so much

15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / ICOs and securities? on: April 03, 2018, 03:17:20 PM
Hi All,
I have couple of questions:

1. When Ethereum went ICO long ago, what did the SEC do about it not being registered as securities?
2. During the 2017 ICO boom, why SEC did not do anything about unregistered ICOs?
3. Going forward with the new wave of regulations, what is the future of Ethereum and ICOs?

Thanks so much

Great ideas here, Thanks so much.
Any thoughts on Neo? I read it is the Chinese Ethereum.
But I see lots of Asian teams doing ERC20 based ICOs.
I wonder why they are not doing them on the Neo platform.
Thanks again
