1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I create a coin using Bitcoin, or am I stuck with Ethereum? on: November 13, 2017, 07:22:56 PM
Thanks everyone. It is indeed Rootstock that I wanted to do more research on. I am very inclined for a utility token, not coin.

I have not implemented anything yet - finishing up the core programming of the websites (5 of them). All cannabis related (nothing like Paragon, and only like Potcoin in a sense except that my token will be used exclusively within the marketing cannabis infrastructure I am setting up). Once I hit (start the programming) the payment portions (gateways included), I will pay serious attention to coin vs token, bitcoin/Rootstock side-chain vs Etherium. And, I guess I will take a deeper look at Waves.

Again, thanks all.

I don't want to make a coin personally. I'll get others to do the techie stuff. (I do website programming, marketing, business end stuff).

But from my research, and my project, it would be of great great benefit to create a token off the back of bitcoin as opposed to Ethereum. Thus, my question and also if anyone knows of a sidechain to the bitcoin  that permits this.

Same as title. Please don't say Waves or NEO.

I thought there as a way to do this using a side-fork, but can't find any info about it (forgot the name).
thanks
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Project - crypto token as a support element? on: November 08, 2017, 03:30:58 PM
In addition, the business will be usa based. Does this require that a TGE also be usa based, or can I do the offer out of Hong Kong or Singapore? Any help is certainly appreciated as I try to get my head wrapped around this. I am creating sites that cover all the discreet infrastructure sections of a particular industry. The 5 sites that will use this token will go live by the end of the year and the token will be used throughout them all. Theoretically, users of this token can be in the millions, though big users will probably only be 30-50,000.

I want to create a crypto token - but not for speculation or investment, but to be used. I wonder - can crypto be used like a coupon? I mean, my wife got a coupon for a great discount on shoes. She didn't need it but a co-worker wanted it and gave her $10 for the free coupon. Is that how crypto works? Anyway, do I need crypto "experts" on staff? Since the token is not core to the operation, wouldn't it make more sense to oursource both development and support?

Sketch out your website on paper - especially your navigation. Keep plenty of notebooks handy.

I usually sketch on paper or in LibreOffice Calc (I use it like a word processor because I can have many sheets available at once, visually, and I can link cells).

While I do not prefer them, without a lot of customization, use Joomla (my preference) to do a quick website. Joomla is very easy to use for prototyping. It does not have to be pretty, or even secure at this point.

Find a Joomla template (plenty of free ones out there - templatemonster.com, for example). Plenty of plugins to do what you want as well, many free.

You should get a bit of knowledge -- take the W3 tutorials on CSS, HTML, mySQL, javascript, jquery, etc. etc. Determine if you need a lot of interactivity, animation, etc.

Creating a website is not as easy as going to godaddy, bigcommerce, shopify, etc. and using their stuff. In fact, stay away from them. Developing a decent website is actually darned hard, and requires a lot of different things. Teams are nice to use, but not always available.

Later, when better flushed out, one can actually do the website (I prefer doing in pure PHP, CSS3, and HTML5 -- using as little jquery/javascript as possible).
7  Economy / Digital goods / One Domain Name: IBTOKIN.com on: November 02, 2017, 07:27:10 PM
IBTokin' token  Grin. Recently purchased as a possible name for something I am up to. Nothing there but the name. As domain names go, it is worth a nice amount. Insofar as tokens or alt-currencies, probably more. Anyway, I am new to this board, so if interested feel free to drop a line. This does not mean I will sell it - just entertaining the idea. It can still serve a very good purpose for me as a "pointer" as I finish programming 5 cannabis related sites (hope to have 3 up by end of Nov.)
