good thing there is a hosted online wallet to keep your coins safe 


i'm afraid it is not possible to have a fast etn wallet (like a light wallet). Since etn its based on high privacy, every wallet needs to scan the whole blockchain with your private view key, to see if the block is relevant. It might be possible to create a new type of node that supports faster wallets but on the cost of privacy and decentralization.

this error occurs when the wallet cant parse the binary data. When we assume there is no bug in the wallet/daemon, youre only chance is to resync your blockchain. So if you delete your blockchain data, it should start from 0 and try again. good luck

To prevent somehting like this, you should always use "control + c" to close the daemon and not the "X".

If you allready have the new daemon, you could try the old one just to make sure that its not a new bug.

A offline wallet (if done correctly) is very secure, but you cant send your coins from a offline wallet without making it "online".

In short: a offline wallet never saw and will see the internet (so very secure)
online wallet: a wallet that is connected to the blockchain, so its easy to transfer money, but it's only as secure as your computer
hosted online wallet (my.electroneum.com): centralized, not (blockchain) secured, single point of failure, but if you loose your access they will able to restore it, if you loose your private keys (for a real wallet) there gone forever

if the value of a cryptocurrency is a centralized hosted app, i wouldnt give it a month of survival. You could just use paypal for this and properly have less fees. In my opinion the value of this coin is purly marketing, they manage to get good deals and heat up the masses.

it is fixed in the monero code, but they had to leave the hardcoded hash in the source to keep the blockchain alive, this makes it incompatible with other forks. It should not be hard to fix and it shouldnt not even be worth to mention, but they shoulde allready fixed it months ago. Since it had to be brought up, brings up a lot of questions and also a big loss it the trust. I know they focus on marketing, but if the technology doesnt work this is going to fail. You can't put a sticker on a pile of shit and hope people will fall for this.

im not saying the simulation is stupid, its just marketing. I say real mobile mining is stupid, because its not efficient at all.

they did not lie, because you will earn premined coins with the app. Also you can mine with almost any mobile phone out there (but its kinda stupid), so a "real" miner wouldnt make sense.

2/ A block can only be added at the end of the blockchain, so they are always mined in order, that means the dates are simply wrong. A blockchain has no time consensus, so the dates dont need to be accurate, the only "time consensus" a blockchain has is the heigt. Thats why updates will be released at a block height X and not at a time X. Im not sure how they measure the timestamp on a transaction but i asume the miner just puts his server timestamp in, which dont has to be accurate at all.

I assume you thinking about 51% attacks. With those attacks you can replace the block by mining with more then 50% hashrate, but you keep them secret. So you wouldnt see the increased difficulty anyway ,because the solved blocks would not be released to the global blockchain. After time X you will always have the longer blockchain (because you solved more blocks) wich is accepted by the global blockchain, so you would just suddenly see the end of the blockchain removed and replaced with something else. But even these added blocks will be in chronological order.

So lets say a big company which owns a lot of hashing power makes a deal with nanopool (or they get hacked by the company). You would first see a huge decrease in difficulty, because nanopool would be not releasing their blocks, but they could keep the miners in the dark about it, give them all the money they want, because its gona be reversed anyway. Then they make their scam deals and release the longer blockchain, which would be accepted globaly. Not to easy but since their is a lot of centralization with ETN mining (most of it because of lack of knowlege) it is not impossible. In the beginning of ETN mining one pool even had 97% of the hashing power.

TL;DR The timestamp is not reliable, only the block height is and its impossible to add blocks inbetween

your wallet files are in data/wallets and a wallet always consists of 3 files (thewalletfile.bin walletfile.bin.address.txt and walletfile.bin.keys), to recover your wallet you can use the seed, your keys or those binary files (with your password).


the speed of transactions has nothing to do with with the wallet, it depends on how many transactions are in the blockchain pool, also how much fee's your paying for each transaction. If you higher the fee, its more likely that a miner picks up your transaction for the next block. Since ETN is a monero fork and monero don't has the focus on a high transaction speed, this is also unlikely to change. no you can leave everything as it is and keep in mind that it uses the cli in the background, so every settings are basicly for the cli applications, and whenever you have trouble or want to change you can always fall back to the official cli, because the wallet and blockchain data is compatible.

but the mobile mining will stop at some point, because the coins are not generated!

like i said even a 8 character password with only the alphabet and digets would take over thousand years to brute force, its more likely that a keylogger gets your password instead of it to be brute forced

I just tested it with random passwords: gTcv1SU0JC, XJ8wgRtjBk, pP56IdrhhS all work for me. can you provide a password that is not working ?
The only issue on github related to this, is if you have a very long password, if you still having trouble and are willing to try, please create a new ticket on github and we bring the conversation there, because this is not the right place ;-)

im aware of an issue, when the password is too long, also some special characters are not supportet. The password dont has to be super safe, since it uses a very slow hashing algorithm and even a 8 character password would need thousands of years to brute force.

The CLI wallet is a command line interface, that means black box and text on it and you have to type commands.

if you want to hold, you should use the paper wallet, its much saver and since its on the blockchain the comunity can help and your not dependent on the etn team.
