Dear community,

it's obvious that governments are eavesdropping on us by data retention resulting in mass surveillance.
Hence I'd like to encourage all of you to check out PGP.

This thread will serve those of you who are struggling with PGP as a playground to test it out and to get familiar with it.

So this is how it works:

I'll post my public PGP key below, you'll use it to encrypt a message which you can post here in this thread, afterwards I'll post if you've succeeded or not by answering.

Let's get started!

2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What happens if Mt. Gox suddenly goes away? on: May 17, 2013, 09:17:59 PM
I think face to face transactions would benefit from Mt. Gox's fall / shutdown.

So no one uses the good old Bitcoin QT wallet anymore huh?

I do, which I also put in encrypted TrueCrypt containers.

Time will tell, if governments shut down Mt. Gox etc.
For instance check the Bitcoin24 case.
I think that LocalBitcoins is a great site, especially the possibility to have face to face transactions without 3rd parties who might fuck you buy forcing you to pay their exorbitant charges.
In addition to that, it's better for your privacy etc., since you're not required to ID yourself.

I do not trust services where I could store my wallet in the "cloud" / online / call it whatever you like.
I prefer a simple setup which requires some USB sticks and TrueCrypt.

I have an increased uneasiness regarding the massive money printing (devaluation) of world currencies.  Never before in history has there been a currency war on this scale.  I believe that any responsible person who cares about safeguarding their investments should be looking for opportunities.  Bitcoin represents one of those possibilities as we as a host of others that I originally was not concerned about but which have proven more interesting as I have learned more.  I've decided to participate in this experiment by mining bitcoin myself and I have invested in a couple of the ASICs.  To date, I still do not own a single Satoshi (after researching for several months) but am waiting patientlly for my ASICs to arrive.

Thanks.

+1, that are certainly some valid points which should lead to an increased interest in Bitcoin.
In addition to that, in my opinion it's no one's fucking business where or for what I spent my money, therefore Bicoin comes in handy.
7  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: SILK ROAD GENERAL FEES/ NOT SELLER ACCOUNTS on: May 16, 2013, 10:04:53 PM
Do you know this Silk Road alternatives:

BlackMarket Reloaded
Atlantis

"If you can't innovate, you just imitate."

Depending on the value of Bitcoin it's approx. 400ish € for a seller's account.
Anyway, as mentioned above as a buyer you don't pay fees, well, except the seller charges extra for postage etc., but I wouldn't consider this as fees.
As a vendor you don't have to pay fees, as long as you set up your account correctly, but on the other hand the clients would have to pay them, it's the so called "pre-commission".

What made me come to Bitcoin? I guess it's the idea behind it.
Fuck banks, governments, law enforcement etc.
