Would two corsair hx1000W be perfectly fine/enough for 6x RX Vega 56 ?
does hx1000W have enough pci-e connectors?

Im running one hx1000 and one rx850w for a 6 vega rig no problem. There is enough pci-e connectors, some cards will need to use the daisy chain 2x6+2pin pci-e cables for power. Im sure the hx1000w has 5 pci-e terminals and comes with 2x 8pin-6+2pin and 2x 8pin-2x6+2pin cables

Gpus are still massively overpriced in the UK too, not much 2nd hand gpus anywhere except ebay. Most are still about 50% higher than they should be. 2nd hand vegas are selling for £700.

Are you using Windows 10?  If so, what version of the OS are you using, and also what version of Nvidia CUDA are you using?

I'm using windows 10 but I haven't been able to get back into windows since my original install. I've tried every combination of video card to pci-e slot when trouble shooting. I tried 1 card at a time in each pci-e slot, all 4 cards. Then I tried all 4 cards plugging directly into the mobo in each of the 16x slots. Then I tried a known working card in each of the 16x slots.

I then tried EVERYTHING again with a different stick of ram. Same results. No display, monitor doesn't get a signal.

Have you tried a cmos reset? its a pain to reinstall windows again but ive found its usually quicker to start again from scratch than troubleshoot problems on a new build. Also if you need to change bios settings i would do it before adding multiple gpus. That seemed to be my problem, but different mobo and gpus

I've definitely heard that argument you might be right ... Mining has the initial hardware costs, plus power all year, etc... plus difficulty and block reward decreases... There's really too many variables over the course of years, but in my overly simplified math example (with tons of missing variables i'm sure), I think an argument could be made that at a certain increase in cost , mining becomes more profitable:

(let me know if I'm wrong, I'm wanting to learn and share like most everyone else here) :

-BUY/HOLD -Buy $4200 of a coin at $0.5 each, if cost per coin doesn't change I own $4200 of coin

*in 1 year at 3x cost it's $12,600 I hold ,
*in 1 year if it 5x cost it's $21,000 I hold,
*and if it's 10x cost it's $42000.  Solid.

-MINE- Spending $4200 ($2400 piece of hardware, plus $1800 in power for 1 yr /$150 a month) , and the average of coins mined daily over the year is 30 coins a day...

*in 1 year at same cost I've mined $5475 (30 coins a day, $0.5 each coin) minus cost of hardware and power = $1275 , not good
*in 1 year at 3x , mined total $16,425 - $4200 hardware / power = $12,225 , closer to buy / hold scenario
*in 1 year at 5x , mined total is $27,375 - $4200 hardware / power = $23,175 , better than buy / hold
*in 1 year at 10x, mined total is $54,750 - $4200 "" = $50,550 , $7450 more than just buy/hold

Check it out, let me know what I missed, (of course I know it can't be that simple, but I think the basic logic applies)

I think a better way of working it out would be to use an average daily profit to work out what would be more profitable rather than an arbitrary number of coins that way it could be used for multiple coins, so in this scenario for the mining option it would be $15 per day @ same cost. So anything over $11.50 per day profit better to mine than buy, and you will also have a mining rig left over at the end of the year to continue mining with. But as you said with the other variables to factor in its near impossible to predict coin prices or difficulty increases.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to get fast rich in crypto world. on: January 24, 2018, 10:04:14 AM
Getting rich in crypto is possible but not quickly, if your lucky and find coins outside the top 100 with a good team, the coin has a use and isnt just a copy of other coins already available then its more than possible. However any coin that has guaranteed returns should be avoided at all costs. Bitconnect being the example, although anyone caught up in the bitconnect scam was blinded by greed and shouldve taken the time to thin about here the 'profit' was going to come from.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Monero difficulty question on: January 04, 2018, 09:34:31 PM
Yeah minexmr is a pool. Thanks for the info I was pretty sure the hashrate shouldn't be dropping and from what I can tell the payouts are close to what the calculator predicts. I just found it strange that for months it showed the accurate speed ( average ) but now it's a good bit out
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Monero difficulty question on: January 04, 2018, 09:00:37 PM
My hashrate on xmr-stak is steady at 11.5k h/s 6x vegas but on minexmr it has been steadily decreasing for the last couple weeks. The difficulty chart shows that the difficulty has been increasing but does this explain the drop in hashrate and if it does shouldn't the hashrate on the miner be dropping too?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining altcoins in UK on: December 30, 2017, 05:28:06 PM
Hello
I want to start mining altcoins in UK.
I don't know to much about this, but i need to start with something. For now,i don't really care how much money i will make.I just want to start.
I have around £5,000 to invest.I want a system who can run from my home, easy to setup and running.
I want this system to be able to mine more the 1 altcoins.I looked around and i see they are dedicated systems for just on e coin(bitcoin,litecoin...)I don't want that.I want to have the possibility to chosse every day,if i want, what kind of altcoin to mine.
Can anyone help me with this?
Thanks

I mine in the UK was lucky enough to get some vegas when the were first released and am looking to build another miner sometime soon so have been looking at what cards to go with. First choice is AMD or NVIDIA, from my experience to get best performance from AMD cards BIOS modding is usually required whereas NVIDIA cards are good with a bit of tuning so if bios modding isnt your thing then i would go for NVIDIA ( Vegas would still be first choice for me for profitibilty even without bios modding for Monero anyway ). NVIDIA cards are also more profitable over many different algos whereas AMD cards are better for specific coins. With a £5000 budget you could build a miner with any 6 GPUs you like, although maybe possible to build 2 miners one with AMD RX570/580 and the other with 1060 6gb/1070. Be aware tho that the cards i mentioned before will have the least resale value if the time ever come to sell up. A rig with 1080s is likely to be profitable for much longer than rx5xx/gtx1060 and easier to sell. Personally i would stick to 6 cards max per rig to avoid unnecessary headaches and minimise downtime ( first time round anyway ).

Forget it, electricity in the UK is expensive, do not waste your time, use the money to buy the altcoins you want, that way will be many times more profitable, the alt coins are rising many times more than any mining you will ever do and in the end you will see you did the right thing. Buy and hold.

^^This is true in my case, holding wouldve made 10x what i have from mining. Electricity isnt too big an issue though 13p/KWH is manageable
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Onda D1800 and 6x Vega56: Windows barely working on: December 22, 2017, 11:54:49 AM
Out of curiosity, is it possible to install Windows 10 Pro and running it without registering it, just like you can with the home version?

Yeah in currently running one machine still not registered with no issues so far, been running for a couple months now.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Onda D1800 and 6x Vega56: Windows barely working on: December 22, 2017, 10:39:20 AM
I have this problem occasionally too, with the Pro BTC Mb. When this happens the only way I've found to fix it is to use the AMD driver uninstall tool and install them again. Using blockchain drivers windows 10 6x VGA rig
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining on Win 10 Monero and XMR on: December 19, 2017, 08:21:17 PM
Hi Guys,
Building my mining rig for monero.
I will be using XMR for mining.

Silly question but has anyone bought Win 10 license on ebay etc.
They sell for like $25 and I am not sure if I should buy one from Ebay.

I know the regular license cost like $100 from MS and authorized seller.

Please let me know.

Thanks

I've bought windows 10 from 3rd party sellers before for about £20 but not from eBay. I've also bought older versions from 3rd party sellers before and never had any issues.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: December 18, 2017, 08:20:07 PM
How the hell are we going to be able to supply power to a rack of these, no PSU has enough PCIe power connectors to feed six of these cards!? It's getting ridiculous... Sad
the only hope is that it will work with 2 power connectors instead of 3.

I've read that only 2 connectors are needed to run the custom Vegas the 3rd is only needed for overclocking.

13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 GPU Vega CryptoNight Mining Build - Will this work? on: December 15, 2017, 02:02:23 AM
Im running a vega rig and only run 3x vegas per gpu on 850W psus. If you plan to mod the cards to run @180W then you should be ok. My Vega 56s run around 220W mining without modding the cards using blockchain drivers. Personally id keep the 8gb RAM i had issues getting cards to mine at full speeds without it but others have managed it.

Celeron CPU works fine on for me but id agree if you can get an i3 or better for a few extra bucks i found it saves a fair bit of time resetting the miner and wattman when needed.

What kind of frame do you plan to use? My first one was a open DIY with good spacing but when i built one using a bought frame the cards run 20% hotter without some extra fans cos they are a bit closer together.

Hey everyone !

I'm facing a problem with a, ASUS Z270-P mobo, and a SAPPHIRE VEGA 64 graphic card. I've been following closely this tutorial : http://vega.miningguides.com/ and yet, after 2 days of countless installs, BIOS settings, DDU abusing, I just can't get it working. Like not even got close to it.

I read somewhere that these particular mobos are pretty difficult to get running. I've only used H81, so far, and as all seems to point to this very part of the machine, I was wondering if anyone had troubles with it, and could share his experience [and eventually the solution]

+ Mobo BIOS up-to-date [but read somewhere, once, it had to be downgraded to earlier versions]

+ BIOS Setup :

-----DMI Max Link Speed -> Gen2/Gen3
-----PCIEX16_1 link speed -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----PCI Express Configuration -> Gen 2/Gen3
-----Enabled(above 4G)

+ Fresh W10 install [UEFI]

+ Blockchain driver - Inevitably fails with BSOD atikmpag.sys issue [both W7 and W10] before finishing

Any help ?

I have the same motherboard running 4x vega64s and 2 Vega 56. Had a few problems to start off. In the end I had to reset the CMOS jumper and start again. Don't know if it makes a difference but I updated and changed the's the settings in bios before adding any GPUs second time round. First time I had the GPUs installed and had problems installing drivers
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I think I'm dumb, how the heck is this motherboard mounted? on: December 05, 2017, 05:46:17 PM
Looking at it closer I think there is a piece of wood covering the bottom of the frame in the pictures. Look at the bottom right side where the inside frame should be looks covered by the wood in the top picture.

I've been using minexmr since I started mining monero never had any issues with the site
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Cast XMR] high speed XMR/CryptoNight miner for RX Vega GPUs (2 KHash/s) on: November 23, 2017, 10:29:32 AM
hi
ive got a multiple card rig with one vega 56 in it anyway of telling the miner to only use  the vega card

 many thanks

Use the -G command to select the Vega only, -G 0/1/2/3 depending on what number the miner gives to the cards. So run the miner with all cards to figure out what what one is the Vega then select that one alone.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 22, 2017, 12:40:34 PM
Question for anyone pushing over 1950h/s with the Vega 64s. How stable are your card clocks in Wattman while.mining? Also could bouncing clocks damage the card/reduce life of card. I feel that if the clocks hold steady mining when using standard settings then it should be the same when over/underclock get but this might not be true.

The best settings I've found to keep stable clocks are 1100/1100 core 1025 mem -10% power temp 62 max. Reducing power any more causes bouncing clocks as does increasing mem. No Bois mod cards using 215w each.

On a different point I've found that setting core clocks manually at 1100/1100 or even 1200/1200 let's the cards run much cooler than using the % slider to a similar level.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Any word on amd vega hash rates? on: November 21, 2017, 10:30:49 AM
I'd start by dialling back the overclocking on all cards to 1080 and see if they all hold at that, then one by one increase them to see if they hold 1100. Personally I prefer running all cards a little below the max, mixed opinions on this but for 24/7 running I don't think it's wise to push the cards especially reference Vegas with the pissy drivers and high temps.

For me card temps weren't related to the GPU COMPUTE ERROR, as long as the cards were clocked stable high temps only reduced mining speed in my experience.

Angry

Hey everyone, i am new to this forum. Out of 6, one of my vega 64, when installed BC driver and after running PP registry, went full throttle on fan speed, and windows error shows up showing gpu temp overload and my system hangs. Its just with one card, no matter what i do, on normal driver it works fine, but on BC driver its creating this problem. Is my GPU faulty, should i return it ?. Please help

Start by dialling back the overclock/undervolt in that card. Not all cards can hold the same speeds/voltages. One of mine always runs 10% slower than the rest. I change the tach lights to blue on the weaker card/s that way when new drivers are installed or different mining software used and the order gets messed up you can track the weaker card easily

I still can't reach the power draw of 130w for vega 56 like hellae

The reg mod for the flashed vega 56 is causing gpu core to run at 1410mhz and even if I reduce it to 1210mhz it still draws 977w at load for 4 cards. Idle is about 130+w.
I'm using the common setup of g4400, 4 Gb ram.

Another thing is, i can't change the hbcc ram level at all. The slider is Greyed out and stays at 97xx mb.

You will need 8gb of ram to activate hbcc using Wattman. I've heard it can be done by disabling each card in device manager then activating again but I haven't tried thisywelf as I had bought an extra 4gb before that fix was found. Still not attempted the reg mod for the power consumption yet. Currently running 4x Vega 64s at 900W 1950h/s per card
