Did you access the forum via tor normally when you were using it previously? Or did you access it from your local internet connection? Even if your IP address were to change, the ISP you are using would show as being the same, along with your general location.

Being that you opened this thread years ago, it may not be unreasonable for either of these to have changed, so you may not pass this verification.

Considering the amount of time that has passed, I would strongly encourage you to create a new account. You would probably be legendary by now if you created one in 2017, or close to one.

Yes, I used Tor and I think most people here with a clue would use Tor or VPNs, because there's scammers everywhere trying to dox you/hack you/etc. IP should be pretty irrelevant, what matters most is signed BTC keys, and I still have all of my keys. I tried with the old method years ago and eventually gave up, recently I wanted to post again and so tried again. Even if im inactive I don't want my account to end up in some ICO scam or being used to promote other scams (and that is what happened as you can see on my latest posts).

Im trying to get my account back through the new method. Already sent the signatures that they requested via email. I still have all of the addresses I used with my account so I can sign all of them. My question is, I was asked to click on a link, it says:

"OK, your current IP was recorded and will be used as part of verification."

But I clicked while using Tor, so the IP changes all the time. Is there a problem with that? even my real IP changes all the time as it's dynamic. Anyway, I haven't been explained what this link is for. Im just hoping the signed BTC addresses are enough to recover the address, if that isn't enough to get an account back then I wonder who is getting their hacked accounts back.
The IP address will be used to make comparisons with your IP address logs just before the account was hacked. The IP addresses don't have to be exactly the same but it could give a clue about the difference in your location and the hacker's IP location which can help the recovery team decide on whether to start off with the process of recovery or not.

If necessary, i think you should send them another message explaining that you visited the IP verification link using Tor so that you can retry the step.

I already told them that I clicked it using Tor. Like I said before, IPs are pretty irrelevant these days. The whole point of people stacking addresses here is if something goes wrong you can recover the account. I have addresses from years ago in unedited posts, closed threads etc. I can sign all of them.

For your info, the recovery system has been changed from the previous one. You now have to follow this step in order to getting back your account. I hope you will get back your account soon.

I didn't see there's a new way to do it now... will try later.
4  Other / Meta / More than ONE YEAR waiting a reply of theymos and Cyrus to get my hacked account on: January 05, 2019, 04:08:22 AM
back.

I have given all the proof in the world that objectively I owned the account originally and I have still not received any replies on my PM or my email address that I gave them on the signed messages.

PLEASE, I need the account back for taxes, and to get back to all the people that I was talking to via PM.

One+ year. This is completely Nuts.
5  Other / Meta / Re: Caution: My Hero account has been potentially compromised on: January 05, 2019, 04:00:13 AM
This is absolutely fucking insane. I have been waiting for more than a year to get my account bank. I need it for tax stuff as well as getting in contact with people that I was sending PM's with. Please someone send this whole thread to theymos and Cyrus. STOP THE MADNESS!
6  Other / Meta / Re: Stake your Bitcoin address here on: July 12, 2018, 12:51:49 PM
Apparently not even evident cryptographic signature verification is enough proof in this forum:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2251399.0

Just don't lose your account guys.

Monthly bump.
8  Other / Meta / Re: Caution: My Hero account has been potentially compromised on: June 13, 2018, 08:10:31 PM
Maybe I can make a new record of 1 year of wait after giving all the proof needed that someone hacked my account. Unbelievable how fucked up this forum is.
9  Other / Meta / Re: Caution: My Hero account has been potentially compromised on: May 19, 2018, 03:43:19 PM
It's been 8 months and counting, still no reply from either cyrus or theymos. This is insane. C'mon guys... this must be a joke.
10  Other / Meta / Re: Caution: My Hero account has been potentially compromised on: March 09, 2018, 08:16:32 PM
It's been 6 months... this is insane.

Did you try to contact all administrators, moderators told them you are waiting so long?

I contacted cyrus and theymos as requested, and all mods have seen this thread already.
11  Other / Meta / Re: Recovery Of account for tax purposes. SERIOUS on: January 16, 2018, 02:19:15 AM
Then you will not be able to get the account back.  :/
Ohh ok mate.. I'll take your words.. glad to see you after long time.. your words held the truth back then and I think it will be the same now.
PS: Stop licking that same old boob mate I feel bad for it.. try something else..!

So what are you going to do about it? will you still try to cash it out?
12  Other / Meta / Re: Recovery Of account for tax purposes. SERIOUS on: January 16, 2018, 02:12:19 AM
Hi Mods,
I was quite active on this forum between 2014-2015.. my account username is rohnearner..! In that one and half year alone I made around 2-3BTC from this forum (Really thankful it changed everything).
But eventually I got kicked out for some reasons that I can understand. Now after around 3 years I'm in a position where I want to cashout my BTC and I might need that account to show the actual source..? I know its hard to recover accounts but if its possible pls let me know how..? I'm not even in control of that bitcoin address associated but I do control the email address though.
Recovering my account might send out a bad message but if I don't get the account back I'll have to create some story, My CA suggested me to get back the account if possible, and here I'm giving it a shot it really would short out a lot of trouble..?

why would recovering your bctalk account can help your tax matter?
if you want to prove your earning from bctalk sig campaign, prove you owned address 14RxL36Jk
https://www.blocktrail.com/BTC/address/14RxL36JkhuYkF2636x39YkWLwpkaFEmHH/links
in case your 14RxL36Jk... address is a deposit address on an exchange or for some reason you can't sign message with it,
but from the look of history on that btc address, it doesn't seem to be an exchange... more likely personal wallet
you should just point out where you get paid and the money trails leading to your btc address which you want to cashout
then you can prove the ownership by signed message of that btc that you used to cash out

Well... it's normal that he wants to have control of the account. How do you know what tax authorities are going to request once you cash out 3 BTC worth of signature campaign earnings? what if they want you to prove you have access to your account too?

Do they even know how verification of bitcoin addressess work?

Has anyone cashed out a decent amount earned in here in the forums? what did the taxmen request? how did it go? I would like how the process looks like it looks like a mess, trying to get together every single payment ever since I've been around here is not going to be easy.. so I wonder what they specifically ask for.

And OP, I have been waiting for 3 MONTHS and I provided a bunch of signed addresses, and I still have no reply from neither Cyrus or theymos.... trying to recover your account in this forum is insanely slow, desperation kicks in since you start thinking you will never get it back, even with all the proof in the world.

Oh yeah, and don't get me started if you traded a bit... how are you supposed to prove to authorities that some of your BTC went into an exchange and then back to your account if you can't verify the address because in exchanges you don't control the private keys? you could still access your exchange account... but what if the exchange is dead? this has happened a lot of people, and I wonder what they did when they wanted to cash out these BTC to buy something of relevance like real estate, which you are going to be requested all the evidence in the world that the origin of the money is licit.

14  Other / Meta / Re: My account is HACKED - What should I do to retrieve it? *PROOF INSIDE* on: December 17, 2017, 05:27:03 PM
How long should this take until a mod or admin will help me? Should I expect a help at all or not?

I have been waiting since October 09, sent PM to Cyrus and theymos, I have signed several addresses, still no reply. The recovery process is a complete broken clusterfuck from planet hell.
15  Other / Meta / Re: how to recover old account? on: December 17, 2017, 05:19:40 PM
Read and follow the sticky in Meta.

But what's the point if even if you sign every address ever, send PMs and wait for months, you still get no replies back?

You can do nothing and have 0% chance of account recovery or follow the guidelines and have 20% chance. Choice is yours.

Then theymos should hire extra people as a full time job to look at everyone's case. Hell i'll do it for a minimum wage payday if you want. Just got to verify signatures, takes me 2 minutes per account or less.

Look at the posts after October 08:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=381190;sa=showPosts

Why im supposed to sit here with a "20%" chance to recover my account, after delivering extensive cryptographic proof and after the day I get hacked, some guy starts spamming his ICO thing? This is completely insane.
16  Other / Meta / Re: Caution: My Hero account has been potentially compromised on: December 17, 2017, 05:16:48 PM
And still no PM's. Im supposed to get a PM, or I get an email to the requested email address?
17  Other / Meta / Re: Are admins completely inactive or this is just me ? (Account Recovery) on: December 17, 2017, 05:15:46 PM
Cyrus successfully recovered my account. I'm back Smiley

Congratulations. Did you receive a PM or something? I still haven't received anything.

It sucks that im stuck here watching how some idiot spammed his ICO:

Look at the posts after October 08... I mean cmon guys, this is insane.
18  Other / Meta / Re: Are admins completely inactive or this is just me ? (Account Recovery) on: December 12, 2017, 08:19:10 PM
Theymos said he unlocked it.

Looks like you can make it happen. Could you tell theymos to look at my case? Given that I have been waiting 1 month more than OP, and given all the addresses I provided, I would like to get it back as well.

indeed, the best way is to letting it go dude, the moderator will recover your account if you can prove that account is yours. if you couldnt verified, then absolutely your account get locked forever. something need to remember that Moderators are rarely recover any account. just make new account then forget about your lost account.!

Yeah, let's forget about an account where you've put years of your time on, making connections, talking to people, and just lose all of your PM history, even if you can provide all the proof needed to recover it as requested. Honestly fuck off.

Also OP, I sent my PM to Cyrus on October 09 and another PM to theymos on November 24, I have signed all of the addresses that I posted with my account:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2251399.msg25108856#msg25108856

Yet im still waiting. I have no idea if they have even checked my case or not. So here I am, watching some jackass spam their ICO shit with my account when im obviously manselr. This feels like a god damn joke at this point. Why do they have an account recovery process if they ignore it? Specially when I've signed not one, but 4 signatures on locked threads from different years confirming I own all of these keys. This is a nightmare.
