This is still fun to mine every now and then; loving lky.scryptmining.com pool!

Adjusted profitability is the profitability adjusted for what I anticipate will be stales (as compared to the base currency). From some testing, faster block coins have more stales, so this is an attempt to smooth this out.
Hey sal, how exactly is profitability adjusted? I assume there's no way to determine the actual % stales in a network right? So do you just have some sort of formula based on network hashrate, block targets etc.? Also, is the adjustment 'factor' static for each currency, or will it also adjust to increases in hashrate for example?

hmm DGC hasn't been able to break 0.0004 BTC for a while now, hoping it does get back up there.

Will have to see the actual fees that will be charged for this, and whether it's scalable to larger volumes.

Please read the post again, all the questions have been answered in the post.

Y'all should come on down to the DigitalCoin IRC channel and check out the IRC enabled wallet bot Clapyohands has set up. It's pretty sleek. As a special promotion, I'll be giving out 5 DGC to everyone who sets one up today!
If I'm away from the chat, query me and I'll send you your DGC when I get back on. (I go by threestar on IRC)
Server: irc.freenode.net Channel: #digitalcoin
Type "!wallet help" for assistance in setting up your IRC wallet
Hope to see y'all there!
Edit: Clapyohands has decided to match the promotion, so it's now 10 Free DGC for setting up an IRC wallet!
Works great!!! Awesome job guys! +1 here, working smoothly!

is it worth solo mining DGC with 540kh/s?
Yes, I think so. I have double that and do fine mining solo. On avg how many blocks do you find a day? More or less than 7?

Are there any cons to allowing this? It would provide a bit more incentive to mine DGC and give a little extra return for miners right?

WDC won the forum vote by a very small margin. Yet on the Vircurex shareholder vote WDC gets 95% of the downvotes? Either something went wrong with the votes or this is not a representative voting system.
I own a large amount of both coins.
Well, one obvious thing to point out is that forum members are not all Vircurex shareholders... For all we know, those that voted on the forum could be an entirely different set of people to the Vircurex shareholders that voted. That is obvious but with respect not relevant to anything. If you poll 600 people in a presidental election and the results are roughly 300 vs 300, and then you poll 600 different people and the results are 570 vs 30 then something is up. If each voter has an equal count in the voting process the chance of that occurring mathematically is extremely slim ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampling_(statistics) if you are unfamiliar with the math behind these concepts). I'm not familiar with how the Vircurex voting process was carried out, if it is true that votes were weighted according to the number of shares the voter has then that could potentially explain it. For example if someone has 90% of the shares and voted no against WDC then that is going to massively affect the vote count. But that doesn't seem very fair to me... It is relevant, because unlike your presidential election scenario, one vote here is not necessarily equal to one shareholder's vote. Like you said, as an extreme example, if one shareholder holds 90% of the shares, then the shareholder vote should have pretty much no resemblance to the forum vote. Also, the two sample spaces you're using are different. Vircurex shareholders can be likened to votes in one particular state in USA, while these alt forums could be likened to another completely different state. You wouldn't expect votes in both states to be more or less equal would you? One state would traditionally favour one party in most cases. Note that one vote here isn't necessarily a 'fair' vote either; people could easily create duplicate accounts and vote more than once. Not saying that this occurred necessarily, but just pointing out it's possible, and that your presidential election comparison is flawed too in that respect.

Can anyone please tell me if this is a bug? Just opened my DGC client and saw that it is trying to sync. It shows that there are 268k blocks remaining on the sync, but it shows all my latest transactions (as of a couple days ago) as confirmed. Also, it says the last block received was generated 18 seconds ago.
Just restart your client. Your funds are safe. Sometimes there's some other coin's chain conflicting I think although I didn't see that error for few days already. I guess the network is getting stronger. Thanks for the confirmation. Did it and now everything looks fine! Just wasn't sure if that was something I should worry about or not; figured something may be corrupted and with cryptos, I've learned (reading posts) that the smallest mistake can make you lose everything, :p. This has been happening to me every single time I leave my wallet open in the background. Just have to keep restarting it when it pops up again... more a nuisance than anything else.

price offered .09 BTC(About 10 USD)
Haha, so your willing to pay 1/40th of the current market price. 10,000 DGC is like 4 BTC at the current market price. haha, dick! i should have known how much backlash i would recieve from the GLD community for backing out and moving to DGC. anywho, the reason the price is so high is its a common negotiating tactic. you start outrageous and meet in the middle somewhere in order to get a good deal I'll sell you 10,000 DGC for 0.09BTC... each Otherwise, there's an active exchange on cryptsy, so why would your negotiating tactic have any effect at all?

Couldn't your argument be used for essentially every other alt coin, since they are all valued lower than bitcoin, so they all have a potential for greater percentage gains AND losses?

An amount (0.5% of total coins) has been created by us to act as the basis for this service. A small amount of these coins may be used for giveaways and bounties, as the community sees fit.
What do you mean by this? So you will already have 1.25m coins from the getgo to provide this 'service'?
