There will be 2 Futures in the beginning.

One of them starts today December 10 on CBOE Exchange - Ticker symbol XBT

Next week on Sunday December 18 CME Exchange will start their future - Ticker Symbol BTC

2  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin price prediction 2018 on: November 04, 2017, 06:39:54 PM
To be honest my 2018 goal of 14,500$ is what i expect as a minimum what it will reach.
I think so because we have grown ~100 billion$ in the last 12 months and the whole crypto  thing is just at the beginning like the internet was in the mid 90's.
WHEN it really goes mainstream - and thats what i think it will do - 100 billion$ is nothing! (look at apple, their market cap is of close to 1000 billion$, and thats only one single company!)
So as you see im positive for the whole crypto thing, maybe another coin will be the leader in the future but i think in the next years it will be bitcoin, no matter about the fork.
Even if bitcoin2x will be bitcoin later, everyone will get the same amount he has now in bitcoin - so you cant miss it if you dont sell too early...
im really sure we will see more than 1000billion $ for the crypto market in the next  years!

I think its the wrong question when you ask like: can bitcoin increase x100 again ?
If you want to try to calculate future prices better look for the absolute increase in value.
When you ask if the value can go on growing at the same speed the answer is simply - yes it can.
Say in the last 12 months it was rising from 1000$ to 5000$, the increase in value was 4000$ in one year - and if people go on investing the same amounts of money into bitcoin it will grow another 4000$ in the next 12 months again.
IF the people go on investing like they do now- nobody knows for sure.
I think bitcoin will be REALLY MAINSTREAM in the next 2-5 Years.or call it mass adoption.
Its easy to imagine that at this point it will not only grow 4000$ a year. Maybe 10,000$ or even a lot more.

So with all this in mind, in 2025 Bitcoin will be worth between 0$ and 500,000$

...now even if this forecast comes true at least 10%, it will be very good. So why not dream? Grin Shocked Cool Roll Eyes

Yeah and if you see that Gold is only one part in a portfolio its getting even better Smiley

Take the stock market for example, its about 60,000 billion $ (only stock market , no derivatives etc.)
If we assume that in the future people will have 10% of their portfolio in bitcoin instead of stock market it would add another 6,000 billion dollar.

which is per Bitcoin 285,000 $

and then the real estate market etc.

yeah it may be a bright future for the early adopters Smiley

just playing with numbers little bit  Wink

Some say Bitcoin may be the Gold of the future.
If we assume that the future generation will more likely use Bitcoin as a store of value rather than hiding a bar of gold under their pillow what would that mean?

The amount of Gold that is used as a store of value is around 40,000 tonnes worldwide.
1 ton gold = 41,500,000 $
40,000 tonnes x 41,500,000 $ = 1,660,000,000,000     (1,660 Billion $)

divided by the total number of Bitcoin we come to

1 BTC = +79,000$
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Goldman Sachs is flirting with bitcoin trading on: October 10, 2017, 05:37:25 PM
If they set up a trading platform for margin trading or kind of cfd on bitcoin i guess they would get so much fees from traders because of getting stopped out etc.
They are not really interested in bitcoin itself, what makes it attractive to them is for sure the high volatility compared to the stock market.
at least my thoughts...
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Amazon Will Accept Bitcoin Speculation on: October 10, 2017, 05:18:47 PM
Sure this would be nice in terms of bitcoin mass adoption or as a support to BTC in general.
But lets be realistic: to do business or especially a trade business like amazon does BTC at the moment is way too volatile.
If there are 20% swings in value compared to any fiat currency in one day it would be really hard for amazon to calculate their business.
Furthermore there are other problems that are not really solved at the moment, ie the number of transactions in a given timeframe or even legal issues.
So imo its a long way for bitcoin to get there.
I say its possible and also i believe in it but it will take some time.
No need to hype yet.
