1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alt coin are bleeding badly on: July 27, 2018, 04:31:08 PM
I recently put everything back into Bitcoin. It was difficult to let go of Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash, but I think it will do better invested in Bitcoin. I let go of several other alt coins but retained Monero.

Large corporations like banks have always had a large influence in the political field. As many members of this forum believe that cryptocurrencies are the future, there is a good likelihood that new crypto projects will undermine the power and high profitability of banks and political status quo. Do you think that one of the reasons cryptocurrencies have not made it mainstream yet is the result of large corporations making all in their power to keep the power to themselves?

There are many types of banks. Central banks will likely care but I don't think your run-of-the-mill private banks particularly care.

It's all rigged. Your vote doesn't count and it never did.
5  Economy / Economics / Re: Companies that are scary on: July 26, 2018, 07:45:35 PM

Of all the large companies that are now large internet players, do anyone particularly scare you in terms of how you data and track could be used? Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, …?

I get a little creeped out when my phone knows my schedule and tells me how long it will take to drive home from where I am. I know some of these notifications are coming from Google but I think some of them are from Apple as well.

I don't like it. If I want to know traffic conditions, I'll look it up myself, thank you.
6  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China believes blockhcain is the fourth industrial Revolution on: July 25, 2018, 09:15:48 PM
The Chinese are not stupid people and they understand the value of blockchain as a technology. It would be foolish not to use it

Like several other nations and many corporations, they are trying to ride the thin line between being pro-blockchain but anti-digital currency. The lines are very blurred here.

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The golden rule of the investor! on: July 18, 2018, 06:06:51 PM

What is the point:
Never invest all your capital in one project.

I also support this point.  We are not suppose to be selfish to the extent of putting all we have in one business. This is not the way to go, we need to invest in different coins.

I generally believe in this philosophy but not with cryptocurrencies. I would not have any reservations investing in only bitcoin or ethereum, especially if I only had enough capital to invest in one.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: is this true that GOOGLE will ban the ICO and crypto related ads? on: July 18, 2018, 05:47:51 PM
There is no such news like that. And i don't think google will ban ico and crypto ads. Because google is earning big money in this ads. So that they will not ban it.

Google announced and has enforced their crypto ad ban. They write about it here in their https://support.google.com/adwordspolicy/answer/2464998?hl=en&authuser=0#376 policies.

I have seen quite a few ads disapproved for being ICO-related. Google cites restricted financial products as the reason for the disapproval.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best ICO for July 2018 on: July 12, 2018, 09:02:43 PM
Name an ICO to buy for July 2018 that can be a gem later?

I've been watching You42 but have not yet invested.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it better to have many altcoins or it is enough to have few? on: July 12, 2018, 08:59:38 PM
It depends on the level of risk you are comfortable with. 80% in coins like bitcoin and ethereum can be safe. You can take a higher level of risk with the other 20 percent.

16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you even read whitepaper bro? on: March 01, 2018, 10:07:09 PM
Let be real. How many of you guys actually read the whitepaper? I read whitepaper sometimes, but reading multiple of them can be a burden and a headache. Do you guys got any tips on getting through whitepaper a little faster. It killing a lot of time. Thank.
If you really want to your investment to be worth then you have to read the whitepaper then only you can get the clear idea about that project and can avoid investing your hard earned money into a scam ICO.So I will go through the whitepaper if Inwant to make investment on that project.

I would never invest based on the whitepaper alone. I read or at least glance at whitepapers to quickly gauge my overall level of interest. Grading them them as A or B and then doing further research for the A's. I use bitcointalk search heavily and find everything I can about the ICO. Also Reddit. Google searches sometimes turn up other resources.

I think it is also crucial to read up on the team and board of advisors. Check them out thoroughly and find out what they have done previously.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bill Gates Claims “CryptoCurrencies Is A Rare Technology Directly Causing Deaths on: February 28, 2018, 06:45:26 PM
What percent of cryto does he think is used to buy fentanyl? What a bizarre statement. If this is the worst thing he can think of, cryptos couldn't possibly be that bad.

Microsoft does everything in its power to avoid corporate taxes. This is why they have offices in places like Ireland. And speaking of their Ireland offices, MS is currently involved in a Supreme Court fight over privacy rights.

19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you afraid of hackers? on: February 27, 2018, 06:36:10 PM
Yes, I do. I take as many preventative measures as possible. I think I weigh the risk the same as someone breaking into my home and stealing from me. I also don't distinguish a difference between a hacker stealing my crypto and a hacker stealing credit card or banking information online.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: KYC - Passports and documents for sale on Dark Web on: February 26, 2018, 07:46:46 PM
That's horrible news. Where did they get these passports? Did they steal them in regular day life? Or is it from a hack? I imagine a hack, because what are the chances that some random everyday person had their passport stolen and at the same time was into cryptos and was going a specific ICO.
.

Counterfeiting used to be really common but it might be a lot harder to do these days. Somewhat frightening if these are stolen passports going up for sale.
