1  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Give me advice pls! (Online shop) on: October 27, 2017, 07:37:34 AM
Hi there,

I want to launch my own online shop which will accept bitcoin as payment but I can't decide what to sell   Smiley

Please post here what would you buy for bitcoins? Watches, video games, food ?

Thanks!

The best way and easiest way is selling online game cards like steam wallets for dota2 or garena shells for league of legends because it was the main stream right now for gamers and this games are very popular.
If you want to buy anything online, then there is not a big deal in it. You can simply visit any famous online shopping store like that of amazon, eBay etc. you can even buy the things by paying with your bitcoin instead of paper money.

On the other hand, if you are planning for launching an online shop, then you have to work really hard as there are already so many shops and it is very much difficult to compete with them.

There are number of online shopping stores available.

Are you referring to all online shopping stores? or just Bitcoin only online shopping stores? If Bitcoin only, could you kindly post the links for such sites. -Thank you

Does anyone know of retailers which sell goods/services for crypto only with no option of payment made in fiat?

Could this represent a good business model for a small store with an online only presence?

There must be some holding alts who are fustrated by the lack of options in terms items they can spend their coins on. While there are many options for bitcoin, for the most part alts are neglected and there isn't a huge market where they can be utilized without first having to convert to btc.

Could support for ripple, eth, bcc, doge, ltc, dash and other alts be a good foundation upon which to build a small business?

 Huh

I strongly believe in Bitcoin only stores, but do believe they are a bit premature. Here's why:

Bitcoin must first become a true medium of exchange(or currency). At the moment, because of its volatility, it is treated more as a commodity.

Commodity currencies have proven better time and time again, but due to greed and practicality, Fiat money is king. Now, Bitcoin has solved the traditional problems commodity currencies have faced, like scarcity, divisibility, convenience, etc.

BUT, here's the good news:

According to Austrian Economics, a commodity that comes into general use as a medium of exchange is money. The concept of a "medium of exchange" is precise. But when exactly comes a medium of exchange into "common" or "general" use is not strictly definable.

So it is definitely the future. At what point it happens, and how it happens remains to be seen.
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: What is the blockchain technology? on: October 26, 2017, 05:04:48 AM
I believe I have a decent understanding of how Bitcoin works, but sometimes when I read news I stumble upon "the blockchain technology" - blockchain for banks, blockchain for medical records, blockchain for real estate and so on. From my understanding, most of them are private blockchains (correct me if I'm wrong), but when I tried to find some info on how those private blockchains work, I didn't get much. So, I have some questions:

1. How do they work? How blocks are organized?  Are there any miners? Are they at least slightly more decentralized than traditional solutions?

2. Why blockchain? Does it solve any problems? Is this more efficient than traditional solutions? Are there any benefits for customers?

Blockchain works for Bitcoin and other Cryptos simply because it is a secure and irrefutable way to record data. In Bitcoins case, it's the recording of p2p transactions right? So, when it comes to the future of "blockchain technology", entrepreneurs and alike are trying to figure out what other data can be stored on a blockchain, because it is secure and irrefutable.

So naturally, the sensitive and often scattered health records come to mind. Also, I have heard ideas of the government replacing physical SS cards and blockchain could be a great replacement. Everyone would have their own "Blockchain SS!" Isn't that awesome?
