1  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is your trading strategy? on: December 09, 2014, 05:02:45 AM
I've been running a cryptotrader algorithm with ongoing tweaking for a about 9 months - it's done me quite well considering we've dropped to a third of its starting price earlier this year.  If you haven't heard of cryptotrader and are interested in algorithmic trading - you should definitely check it out.

I've also been dollar cost averaging into the market with recurring buys twice a week since November.  Comparatively - my bot has done significantly better than my manual trades and DCA'ing.
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Which crypto trading bot you recommend me . on: August 06, 2014, 02:47:48 AM

what is okay to use trading bot? that legal?
it uses a special script or just make a trading strategy?

@Nawaytes - this is of course completely legal and through a reputable site - cryptotrader.org.   I have created a custom algorithm and have made it available for private rent/subscription.   While past backtest performance of my algorithm is quite impressive, there is always risk and uncertainty to what the future will hold.  I've kept the logic's parameters as general as possible while maintaining performance.    The bot operates on a 2 hour tick - that is, it recieves the market's open/close/high/low/volume once every 2 hours and then runs through its logic to determine market direction and momentum and places trades accordingly.   The bot considers SAR, EMA, RSI and other indicators in addition to some custom indicators I have created  to measure market supports, velocity, momentum and volume volatility etc.

I will PM you some more details.

I have also been able to increase the bot's performance considerably using a new volume monitoring implementation.  Here is a backtest for you all to consider. https://cryptotrader.org/backtests/G44WArn4rPJP9h8wF

Do you you run an account with real $$$ that runs your algorithm?

@Cryptsine - I sure do!  I currently have a handlful of customers and run it with personal funds as well.

I'll share with you here my longest running live trader - it has been running for 40+ days: https://cryptotrader.org/traders/Mzw6H9RumBXQRSqB3
- you may adjust the timeframe in the top of the chart to expand to longer timeframes if desired.

SSSA has come pretty far in the last 40 days and some nice improvements have been integrated.  Here is a backtest of the current version: https://cryptotrader.org/backtests/Ltc9m563CL5TG8GAw

its probably true, its hard to get clean software for bitcoin :/ thats sad in a way

So true..there are far too many scammers and scam sites targeting the newcommers to the market.  You really need to have your sniffers on high and do your homework.

With that said though, cryptotrader.org is a very legit service and has made great strides in the past few months.
5  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bot or not? on: June 20, 2014, 11:29:35 PM
I couldn't agree with you more hvanra.   Backtests showing eye popping gains are really just for demonstrative purposes.  In reality there is orderbook liquidity and vwap slippage that brings things back to reality.  What a 'million dollar backtest' does show, however, is consistency of performance over a wide range of market conditions.
6  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bot or not? on: June 20, 2014, 06:56:09 AM
If you are interested I have a cryptotrader.org algorithm available.  It is a personal strategy of mine that I rent out privately for a monthly rate and the total number of users (including myself) is limited.  I currently have 3 of 10 trading space open.

Here are a few backtests to show past performance - each backtest starts with $1,000 USD.
*Note:  I have hidden indicator and event plotting.  If you would like more information and additional backtests with a bit more visibility into some indicators - we can talk.

1/1/14 to Today:  $3,981.91
     https://cryptotrader.org/backtests/Qs55q2jemGHB4zvmY
11/1/13 to Today: $67,587.56
     https://cryptotrader.org/backtests/u2hcd6uPQg7nNNEDP
1/1/13 to Today: $2,830,202.84
     https://cryptotrader.org/backtests/9WxugpQLRt7dipb2G

In comparison to other strategies available for rent on CT - this strategy is held privately and the total number of users is limited.  Measures are taken to make sure funds are spread out so orders do not fall on top of one another and to minimize slippage and market impact.

I have run this bot and its many beta versions since February of this year and have seen nice BTC gains over the long downtrend we are now (fingers crossed) escaping. A couple clients have been with me since February/March and have been able to benefit as well.

If you are interested in more information or would like to consider renting one of the remaining trading spaces - you can PM me here or preferably email me at simonsaysmine [at] gmail [dot] com [simonsaysmine@gmail.com]

8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][POOL][PROFIT-SHIFT] Coinshift.com, the first profit-shifting multipool on: March 03, 2014, 01:53:37 AM
You've got my hashes!

Looking forward to seeing this pool grow - you've got the right mindset and finally created a pool that can help level out the ecosystem.  The big shift to multipools has very much negatively affected the landscape of the alts and it's only going to get worse.

[EDIT] For the record - 0% intro and a 2% is more than reasonable - especially considering the server costs these days.
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] profit switching auto-exchanging pool - middlecoin.com on: December 20, 2013, 09:36:32 PM
Pardon me for I'm new to the pool - part of the oncoming 'feasters'.

Wouldn't the famine cycle be 'normal' LTC mining converting to BTC?  At which point the only disadvantage is the high fee.

No, this mines multiple scrypt coins and converts them to BTC. It mines whatever is more profitable, so it should net more than what you would get from LTC mining.

I'm new to it but not an idiot Smiley.  I get that.

I am saying - in the "famine" cycle that jamesc760 is referring to.

Mining scrypt under the assumption you're running GPUs (safe assumption) would mean that the current 'baseline' for mining profitability is LTC.  Therefore, worst case scenario you're making LTC mining rates/MH - 3.4% OR more if there is a more profitable alt.

anyone paid with bank transfer before? this will be my first time doing so....seems complex. do i have to call them to see if they got the funds etc?

I bought my jup with this method and as long as you follow knc instructions everything will be ok.

if you've already placed the order you'll find the instructions at the bottom "PROFORMA INVOICE" you should have received via email.

Do you know how long the order will go unpaid before it is auto-canceled?

Step away for a week and the price has EXPLODED!  Pleasant pleasant surprise.  Where do you think the ceiling is?  Still time to buy in more?
18  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: ATP [Advanced Trading Platform] on: June 25, 2013, 10:54:05 PM
Great, thanks for the heads up. I don't know if i already have them or not, but if you give joesmoe @ github access to your github, i'll update the ReadMe some to help avoid some of these questions. I'm no programmer, but i can certainly pitch in for the documentation effort!

Would be good to have in the Readme. There are hints to this when reading through the original ATP and this ATP post that MtGox is the only usable exchange with the ATP as it currently stands due to making market orders.  Certainly it is not as clear as it should be.

Has anyone created a script to pull data from the .log file for graphing/trending/backtesting?

I am working on an excel sheet (I'm a lousy coder), but automating the mining from the log is too timeconsuming to bother with.
