Is the pool down? Or is the operation suspended indefinitely? Hate to see my balance burn in flames?!!
2  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: May 26, 2013, 06:34:38 PM
Well, the negatives were amusing. I suspect that what happened is the numbers got bigger than could be represented with the number type in the code. when that happens the sign bit gets changed and the number wraps around becoming negative. basically the biggest number + 1 = the most negative number. Shocked

I already PM'd Slush about my datatype overflow suggestion. He hasn't been only since. But it's nice to see others have the same idea as to what may be biting the pool.
Hopefully it can be identified soon, as that could lead to a real solution and less work for the operator repeatedly having to recalculate certain blocks.

Nice tried, but.. no. Doesn't work that way.

Whoa. Finally got through the hoops to be able to post here..

I've been observing the reward calculation and seen some weirdness too. Including the estimated reward for the current block.

Maybe it's not just a matter of databases not being updated correctly, but some data type overflow. Miscalculation seems to happen when pool score passes 4G. If some intermediates are calculated as 32-bit values, bad things can happen to the outcome.

Just hope that Slush can look into this and possibly confirm this bug that has been biting us. More or less since the move to EC2, which could explain different compilers/platforms when compared to the ovh hosted machines.

5  Other / Beginners & Help / over 4 hours on the forum but still no rights? on: May 24, 2013, 12:38:29 PM

6  Local / Nederlands (Dutch) / Re: Internet-jurist Arnoud Engelfriet blogt over Bitcoin on: May 24, 2013, 09:48:56 AM
I'm living in the netherlands and cannot speak dutch fluently enough yet, so please tolerate us using this forum even without speaking dutch.

I would say the language in this forum is Dutch, regardless your nationality or where you live. Er zijn genoeg andere plaatsen waar Engels de voertaal is, lijkt me dus goed om het hier gewoon in het Nederlands te doen. Vlaams is mij ook best, en zelfs Zuid-Afrikaans zal nog wel acceptabel zijn.

bots finding these forums and failing to post will only need very small modifications to get through to the real forums..
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which coin should I mine to start with as a beginner? on: May 23, 2013, 09:31:08 PM
I tried Litecoin with my GPU but that apparently requires some tuning at which I seem to fail. Even my CPU has higher hash rates than my 5770?!

Problem with mining is the low reward you get. Mining on new altcoins gets you much more coins, but they are useless as long as they don't take off. And how will they take off if nobody cares about yet another altcoin?

If only I started mining a few months back, when it was easy to mine... I'd be filthy rich now :-P

But why do I need to post messages? This seems a bit useless...

I can understand why you have to wait some hours before cluttering other forums..
