People say China banned exchanges in September ... yet several Chinese exchanges are operational. What is the truth ?
2  Economy / Economics / Who would buy a CME future at 500 K ? on: December 18, 2017, 04:54:35 PM
I watched the Richard Heart / Tone video yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbhqGaQJHuE

So they are saying to long a BTC contract you need 35K USD whereas to short it you need 500K USD. Doesn't CME need to balance shorters / longers otherwise where will the money come from to pay all the longers ?
3  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How are crypto exchanges able to send Bitcoin with such low fees ? on: December 10, 2017, 07:47:38 PM
When an exchange sends payments, they send them in bulk.  They send one transaction with several outputs.

The size for a typical Bitcoin transaction with one input and one output is about 226 bytes.  Transaction fees are based on the number of bytes that your transaction takes up on the blockchain (what you're basically paying for is space on the blockchain).

IIRC, each output only adds 34 bytes to the transaction, so if an exchange sends to many people at once, the transaction fee decreases relative to the number of people that they're sending to.

Hmm interesting. Didn't think of that.
4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / How are crypto exchanges able to send Bitcoin with such low fees ? on: December 10, 2017, 07:11:18 PM
Hi Guys,

I am interested how are crypto exchanges able to send Bitcoin at such low and fixed fees ? I am posting this in "Technical" as I would prefer an answer from a technical person Smiley .

Basically are these exchanges running local mining operations and then sending all transactions to that local mining farm ? How is this one done technically ?

Or is it something else ?

5  Economy / Economics / How much liquidity do you need , to run a crypto exchange ? on: December 01, 2017, 08:06:31 PM
How much cash do I need to run a crypto exchange. Coinbase has gotten multiples of 100s millions in FIAT VC funding. So they can cover withdraws.

But what if you are a small startup ( maybe ICO ) who wants to provide exchange services. If lots of people start withdrawing FIAT from you ... you can't keep up, unless you are taking as much FIAT deposits as they are being withdrawn ... any thoughts ?
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MicroMoney] The New Global Crypto Economy on: October 24, 2017, 08:44:51 PM
I don't understand what benefits does holding the token bring ?

it will grow in value with the implementation of the roadmap. you can read more about the token in the whitepaper

The only way a value of something can raise is if the token brings benefits to the holders. I cannot find anywhere a list of benefits that your token brings. You cannot summarize it easily either.  I see no point in buying this token.

8  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Price movement notification group ? on: October 23, 2017, 05:18:15 PM
Aren't you considering an app or website to give you alerts when the price crosses the threshold you have set? If you are, you might check Blockfolio - this is a mobile app (Bitcointalk thread, Website) or CoinWink - this is a website that alerts through email or SMS (Bitcointalk thread, Website). CryptoPing (Bitcointalk thread, Website) - a telegram bot seems to be good too

It am looking for more sophisticated monitoring, MACD, live persons.
9  Economy / Service Discussion / Price movement notification group ? on: October 23, 2017, 09:47:47 AM
Looking to join a group where people monitor 24/7 on rotation , and sms/ping others when there is sudden movement ...
