1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Help with root key issues. I fear the worst. on: October 20, 2017, 05:26:42 AM
Hi,

I am very new to this so any advice is much appreciated.

TLTR: I transferred my btc from exchange to armory before installing bitcoin core. I didn't have enough memory for bitcoin core so I wiped my computer as I couldn't free up the partial download. Upon reinstalling armory, the backup root key didn't work anymore. Please help!

I am able to see a transaction has been processed using an address generated in my armory wallet
in blockchain.info however I am unable to access this
as it is a watch-only wallet.

Armory was unable to sync to bitcoin core and after the full download of
Bitcoin Core failed, I reinstalled Armory offline with the intention of
moving my BTC to a different platform as my computer is not able to run
Bitcoin Core and so will not allow me online access to Armory.
I did not get as far as accessing the private keys for this wallet as I was
waiting for Armory to come online, which it briefly did during one start up
(when I was able to use my address to sign the transaction - not asking for a private key) and failed to
do a second time, prompting me to uninstall and reinstall the program.

Upon reinstallation of Armory, I tried to restore my wallet from the paper
backup I created however despite copying the root key exactly (multiple
attempts, triple checking, restarting, etc.) I am unable to restore my
wallet. As I do not have the private keys for this I am unable to build a
full access wallet anywhere.

Is there anything I can do or have I lost access to my BTC forever?

I have tried to contact armory but the email bounced.
