1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: ⚡⛏️[ANN] Giga Watt: Best Home for your Mining. Starts today! on: March 01, 2018, 09:16:26 AM

-----------------

I have questions about this token explanation (above) in order to value the token properly.

1. How much more am I making per month with one miner plus having all the needed tokens compared to someone else who has the same miner at Giga-Watt but does not have any tokens?  If the difference in profit is significant over time, then the tokens have good value. If we can get a number cruncher on here to help out with the answer it would be appreciated. At what point in time do the tokens pay for themselves?  I hope not after fifty years.....

2. I thought the hosting fee would be eliminated if you have the token, but apparently I was wrong. Please comment on this also.

Thanks,  G.P.

I have the same questions. Before the ICO was over, a calculator on the GigaWatt website answered your first question very efficiently. I think all us would appreciate having access to that calculator again, or maybe someone can replicate it. An additional question related to this, I think, is what the calculator indicated in May/June/July of 2017 when the price of BTC was about a fifth of what it is now; I'm pretty sure the cost of electricity has not increased proportionately. It would be a good idea to just verify that the returns we're getting are in line with what the calculator showed, and that the 15% fee is what's being deducted from the right amount. The more our miners and tokens earn, they more the company earns. So it's hardwired for win/win. And I trust they calculated a high-enough fee to make business sense. If all goes well, and I'm very confident it will, the price of tokens will increase and GigaWatt and token owners will all do well. I hope we can crunch some numbers through a GigaWatt calculator again.

Second question... It was my understanding as well that if you had more tokens than the equivalent power consumption of the miners you host at GigaWatt, then the cost of hosting would be completely covered. I do have more tokens than miner-power-use, but I am being charged small fees for hosting. Would appreciate an answer about this if anybody out there knows.

A third concern for me is about the possibility of the miners we purchased months ago going obsolete before they're deployed, and whether or not they'll be able to keep up with the speeds of more recent machines once they finally are deployed.

Sorry I can't answer your questions. But maybe some people who can answer, will.

2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Zclassic... to Electrum Wallet from Bittrex - Stuck? on: February 26, 2018, 09:45:22 PM
I sent ZCL from Bittrex to Zclassic Electrum Wallet version 1.04.

I've repeatedly checked that the wallet "receive" address I used was correct.

The Zclassic Explorer shows no transactions.

I sent some about an hour ago.

Some more about ten minutes ago.

Both orders show as "authorized" on Bittrex.

But nothing has arrived in the Electrum wallet. And as mentioned above, Zclassic Explorer doesn't even show that the orders have been initiated. Just says "There are no transactions involving this address."

Is the Electrum wallet working today?

I expect someone will say that "the network is congested because of the upcoming fork."

But that doesn't explain the complete absence of an acknowledgment that the transactions are in progress on the Zclassic blockchain, and possibly being confirmed, since the record for both orders does appear in Bittrex.

Conceiving, designing, and building an entire, unprecedented, highly complex technology company from scratch as you simultaneously pioneer a brand new industry is a piece of cake, right? Anybody can do it! Especially when, after you've been operating the basics for four years in total compliance with the government, government regulators show up with a sudden, surprise roadblock. Create everything, from business model to physical premises to 100% accurate payment system to user interfaces... Work non-stop for months to years. Have nothing to imitate. Build a team. Employ a lot of people. Bring money from all over the world into the U.S. and Washington State. Pay a lot of taxes to this government that takes over your business and thwarts your extremely hard work, innovation, creativity, courage, initiative. Get scathing insults from people who have never attempted to do anything very hard and will never be the first to invent something unprecedented. And think three months is a long time. (And don't understand contrarian investment strategy.)

I had the concept of "orders" and "inputs" and "outputs" -- which I now understand as data and code instructions -- mixed up with the value (bitcoin) that's being transferred from one owner to another. I was wrongly imagining output having to do with something like taking value out of something like a drawer and input having to do with something like putting it a different drawer that the receiver of the value can open.

Thanks very much for your patience with the weirdness of my questions.

Thank you. I will strive to increase my understanding a tad.

Clarification regarding this concept: "The inputs are a list indicating exactly which previously unspent outputs are being spent." is immensely illuminating!

Danny, et al., I'm hoping you'll be willing to respond continue this dialog...

What's the different between the private key and the signature?

What does the digital signature consist of? Where did it come from?

Danny says the "private key allows you to provide a digital signature that meets the requirements of specific transaction outputs in order to be allowed to use them as transaction inputs."

Provide a digital signature... to the blockchain, right?

Transactions technically consist of input orders, and output orders?

Why did you say "specific" in "specific transaction outputs"? Do some transaction outputs not require digital signatures?

An example of a complete transaction is one successfully-executed output order plus the successfully-executed input order that the output order triggers?

Neither order will be executed unless a full set of requirements are met? Orders for transactions, such as an output and input order, are carried out only per certain requirements?

One requirement is typically valid order data (such as the currency, the amount...)?
Another is a valid private key?
Another is the digital signature associated with the private key?
Another is confirmation that the private key and digital signature match each other?

Output requirement is
Output requirements are
Output requirements include (a) a valid digital signature and?? the signature must be (b) validly coupled with its private key?

If output requirements are met, the requirements can then be used to try to clear a transaction input?

Thank you!

When you own bitcoin, what you own is a key that gives you access to a bitcoin credit on the bitcoin blockchain that’s assigned to your private key. The key allows you to transfer some or all of your credit directly to another key.

When it's turned into fiat, what does the blockchain record? Not that ownership is transferred to a different private key. Does it record an ID of the exchange that converts the currency?
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / "The action can't be completed because the file is open in ixcoin.exe" on: March 02, 2014, 08:17:45 PM
I keep getting a message that says a folder is open.

Finally narrowed it down to one file, and it is ixcoin.exe.

I'm unable to delete it. When I try to delete or move the ixcoin.exe file, I get a message that says: "The action can't be completed because the file is open in ixcoin.exe"

I've rebooted and then attempted to immediately do this before doing anything else.

Can anybody tell me a way to delete this file?

12  Other / Beginners & Help / Bitcoin Gift Card - how to redeem? on: November 21, 2013, 06:26:55 AM
I have a five-BTCs gift card.

It's a gogo brand.

I haven't been able to redeem it...

The web site provides almost no information.
gogocoin is the name in the web address.

I'm afraid to scratch off the stuff and
wave it in front of my computer's camera.
Not sure it'll work.

What's supposed to happen?

Thanks for any help!

13  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin Businesses and Developers, Let's Get Started! on: November 20, 2013, 06:30:33 AM
I'm the creator of a little gift product. It's a perfect bedtime story or consolation for someone who's grieving the loss of a pet.

It will be an app (possibly with personalization capability, e.g. name of cat and cat's owner), an ebook, an MP3, and a printed book possibly with a CD.

The MP3 is now for sale online for dollars or BC. The other products will be ready for sale soon.

I'm using Coinbase.

Would love to get a whole BC for any one of these products, but that seems too good to be true.

Not sure how to charge fractions of a BC... Does everybody use MicroBitCoins? What do merchants need to know about that, and where's a good place to find out?

Thanks for any advice!

Is it OK to plug your business and the stuff you sell on the forum?

Thx.
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Hours to "catch up" and process transaction history? on: May 29, 2013, 07:46:40 PM

Hi all,

Newbie trying to get started. How long does it typically take to install the wallet? After six hours, it was about 66% done on a reasonably fast wireless connection (signal strength "Excellent").

Is this typical?

Didn't find a thread about this, so am posting.

Links to helpful newbie threads also appreciated. Looking for something like a checklist of things to do, and a compilation of info about keeping a wallet safe.

Knew for a long time this was coming; can't believe it took me so long to discover it. Glad to be here.

Thanks.
