Gold in general is no better. The value of gold is nothing more than a result of a global consensus - at the moment everyone agrees to consider gold a measure of value, simply because this measure is in some form or another necessary. If we assume a utopian situation, that tomorrow everyone agrees that gold is not such a measure, then it will be good only for the production of quality wires and trinkets.
The btc is gaining momentum for exactly the same reason - the global consensus towards the btc is constantly being strengthened. In this case, unlike gold, the cue-ball is not only a measure of value, but also a settlement system, and gold is not a competitor for this parameter.
I think gold can't be replaced, is something likely attached to fiat as bitcoin is too. People who need to spend things end up getting fiat. |

i do this question because i´ve read in this website issues with bitcoin, slow mining process, high fees, etc. and i´ve read too good reviews of some altcoins, ethereum (smart contracts), ripple (for transfers between banks), dash and nem. these altcoins called 2.0. could bitcoin become just in future virtual gold reserved to companies and rich people?
Maybe if ethereum have the same success in the next couple of years I don't see it happening any time soon. |

I understand the tech (enough)
However, it is ridiculous that a hard fork like BCH happens and overnight they are able to create another 21 million coins based on (similar principles to bitcoin).
Every hard fork dilutes the bitcoin value (indirectly)
How does the community solve this problem ?
