I think the altcoins are what bitcoin needs because if everyone was mining bitcoin the difficulty would increase like crazy. Also the whole fun of mining would be gone. These altcoins are fun to mine because on low hardware you could mine several coins a day. Personally i think besides litecoin, that yacoin has a good chance because of the CPU-only mining. But only time will tell.
