In case anyone did not see this, Newegg has the arctic freezer 7 for $17.99 shipped in USA with promo code EMCPCWP47 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835186134.

Good price, but limit 5 per customer. Only enough for one board.
2  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 09, 2014, 12:30:46 PM
I am going to try the waters with converting 4 x-1 units into 3 technobit boards.  Wish me luck!

Brother I am with ya. I am swapping 2 x3's as we speak. I had to get a loan for the $13k conversion to 200 chips. But then, I bought 4th/s and they made it 6th/s and now with the chips and additional money, its 25 th/s. This seems good to me.. am I wrong?

200 chips is 20 TH/s, not 25. I hope that doesn't douse your campfire.

Actually around 22 - 24 TH/s depends on the luck.

From Black Arrow, maybe, but these MartoMinersTM are doing a pretty steady 400 GH/s. I haven't seen one go higher. Can anyone refute this?
They go up to 120 per chip but the power consumption is going up Wink
I like MartoMiners TM BTW Smiley

Good to know. Thanks.

The question is how much could these completed (or just populated board) miners be sold for, in say six weeks?

I'm gonna say $300 a piece, without coolers or PSU. Does this seem about right?
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 08, 2014, 04:28:46 PM
After MIR price is only useful if you are buying a couple since almost no MIR will let you get a rebate for 12 units. You'd probably be better off (and get a much better supply) if you bought four of Sidehack's DPS-2000B boards with cables for $366 along with four PSUs off eBay for $120, and ran four boards off each one.

Good point. Looks like those boards aren't available yet? Here's the link to the pre-order for those that want to investigate.

I was going to post this in the group buy thread, but bobsag3 locked it. I hope this is helpful for those thinking about exchanging for bare chips.

Fisrt of all, paying for assembly with chips is a pretty good deal. You're getting a value of $69.75  per chip from Technobit. Much better than the $35 or $25 others are offering. Who are the vultures?

Assuming 1 X3, that's 100 chips. You end up with 12 boards, with four chips left over. 8 chips per board - that's 4 in the board, and 4 for payment.
So a grand total of 4.8 TH consuming ~4800 W.

Additional costs include coolers for each mounted chip, so in this case 48 coolers. Any socket 1150 cooler will work, but it needs to dissipate 100W. Also you'll need ATX PSUs to power them. In my opinion, I'd go with 12 500W units rather than powering multiple units with one PSU. The 1000W+ PSUs get proportionally more expensive. 500W units are much more common and cheaper per watt. YMMV.

So I found some 100W coolers for $10 a pop. If you want beefier ones, you'll pay as much as $25 a pop. So between $500 and $1200 for coolers.
I also found a well reviewed 500W PSU on sale for $25 after MIR. But you can easily find them for $50. So between $300 and $600 for PSUs.

So let's take a middlish price and say $1200 in additional out of pocket expense for 12 boards, or $100 per board to get them running. Plus you still have 4 chips which you could have mounted on a 13th board for $279.

So you would end up with 5.2 gh/s for an extra $1600. That's about 60% more hashing power. Is it worth it, or is it throwing good money after bad? You decide for yourself.
8  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $0.49/GH/s on: July 08, 2014, 06:59:39 AM
After running some numbers, I am willing to pay $25 per chip.  If you have chips on the way or in hand and are interested in getting out of the game, please let me know.  Will buy in packs of 8.  Due to the length it may take to get these onto boards and actually hashing, that is the best price I can give at this time.

I think most everyone would be willing to pay 25 bucks per chip. After assembly that's somewhere south of $1 per GH/S.

8 chips for a 4 chip board. = $200
and 150 bucks for coolers and PSU and controller.

$350 for 400-480 GH/S.

Not a bad deal.

Yea, but look at the uncertainties.  It is 2 to 4 weeks to get them put onto the boards once Technobit gets them.  It could take a week or more to get Technobit the chips, plus time to mail back, setup, and get everything running.  You are probably looking at miners 3 to 6 weeks down the road, and who knows what the environment would be like.  I am hesitant at $25 ea, and I probably won't take many at that price before dropping down to $20 or below.

Dude, you have balls of steel. Trying to influence the market value of these chips in such an obvious way. I know you've got your twisted little heart set on sinking the company and making the enigineers cry, but you're taking it too far. Now maybe your price is a fair street price, but tell me why you suddenly want anything to do with a BA product after the amount of vitriol you've spewed in their direction?

It's about making money/BTC.......same as,why would anyone buy anything from Avalon  Roll Eyes

I get it, but I got the impression that ANY price was too high for Mr. James Stuart. It just plays out to me as either a two-faced money grab, or a sabotage attempt.
9  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [KINDA GB] Minion ASIC to technobit Aseembly on: July 08, 2014, 06:38:33 AM
I believe this cooler would work. It says it maxes at 100 watts, but should work with an additional fan? $10 ea. = $40 per board, $480 for 12.
This ATX PSU is on sale for $25 after rebate. But barring this, you can find a 500 watt PSU for $50 easily, equaling $600 for 12 boards.
Also, Black Arrow prices the chips at $69 each. So does Technobit, valuing 4 chips at €205 = $279. Fire sale prices may be appropriate, but only you can make yourself lose money.

I like how BA hasn't bothered to lower the price of their miners even as other manufacturers drop their prices and release new miners. $373 for 100gh was barely a good deal back in December. I sense it's just another way of them manipulating their compensation. I just can't see anyone buying those in the last month thinking it's a good deal. Maybe that's why they don't want to talk compensation, they probably haven't had any more money roll in since they got people to pre-order their compensation power supplies.

No money coming in means no money to build compensation units. If they lower the price to get more people to buy in then their compensation numbers go up even higher as they promised to send extra hashing power if they lowered the price.

Yep. Despite all the accusations, I don't see a scam. I see a company that severely underestimated the scale of this project. They made certain promises that I'm sure they intended to keep, but now they're just f'ed. If they lower the price to encourage new money, they'll have to extend that savings to orders placed in November, thereby canceling out the new money. If they allocate all their resources to a fair compensation for existing customers, they have no product to sell to new customers. It's a catch 22, and everyone's left holding the bag.

Who knows what tomorrow's update will tell us about X3 though.
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Observer Effect (over $1000 by 16-30 June) on: June 13, 2014, 05:52:54 AM

I actually adjusted the days at which the peaks occurred for the April and November bubbles (by 3 days at most) because then even the flash crashes on the run-up lined up! If we are where I think we are, we are just experiencing the small dip before the rally (which was coincidentally related to SR for the last run-up as well).

That's one helluva coincidence! If I were a conspiracy theorist (which I'm not), I'd say that the FBI timed it on purpose. So that, ummm, .... I dunno why. But someday someone will figure it out and they'll make a movie about it starring Nicholas Cage entitled "National Treasure 18" and at the end, they will dig up the QR code with all of Satoshi's bitcoins out from under the United States Federal Reserve Building in Washington, DC.

EDIT: and it will turn out that Satoshi Nakamoto is none other than Ben Franklin who foresaw the Internet in 1770's, invented bitcoin, etched the QR code on the back of the Constitution for safekeeping, and instructed the Illuminati to unleash bitcoin and save the world when it needed it most.

A bitcoin saved is a bitcoin earned. That movie sounds amazing!

BTC:  Peak of $18,000 before finding a stable bottom ~$9,000.  Ends the year over $10,000.  This may not happen until April 2015, i.e. I'm off by 4 months.
Why?  India.

+1 that your tiers are about 50x too high.  Rethink your prices in millibits.
The way crowdfunding works is by getting a ton of people on board for a low price.  Look at the Humble Bundle for a different model.  The latest bundle has sold over 160,000 copies so far at an average prie of $4.41.  That's over $700,000, and they accept bitcoin too.  It seems that you are looking down your nose at piddly little sums, but those small amounts add up.  I doubt you'll get 160,000 pledges through this forum though.  That's why Kickstarter is the place to be - traffic.  But very few people are going to toss their bitcoin around because the price is so volatile.  It's not play money.

Here's what I've got so far.  This is just a rough draft to see what your thoughts are.

I'm having trouble seeing how that sun-bird thing will integrate into this style.  It could work on the certificate, where the circle is, but that engraving style takes MUCH work.
Here are some examples of that engraving style that I've done.  It's not the type of work I do on spec though.  I'd have to have a guarantee to spend the time on it.

Let me know if you're interested in seeing more.
