From what I've noticed, this is a good thing. The movement is regulation and control, sure, but it's also more about setting out some certainty about the rules that businesses (including banks) can operate in. Without that, support from legal financial organisations is always going to be paranoid. Anyone that has seen exchanges like Intersango jump from bank account to bank account, or just try to get a startup loan, knows this kind of state move is needed to make Bitcoin legally-plausible.

Love buried treasure ideas like Masquerade and Perplex City, so hope this does well. Keeping an eye on the thread, wondering whether to cash in a Casascius in exchange..

What's the best way to convert from GBP <-> SLG? Thinking of seeing if anyone will take it here in Brighton for freelance jobs, etc.

Can confirm on spacedrop - "Sterlingcoin Spacedrop cannot be accessed via proxy." message in Firefox from UK, but no problem getting to it when going through a Japanese proxy in same browser.
|
|
|
Do bear in mind that option 2 means that people with more than one person in a household who wish to use the Spacedrop will not be able to do so.
Unless they have smartphones on a data contract More likely to hit issues with workplaces, Universities, etc, I'd have thought...

Watching this with interest, great to see some altcoin activity in Brighton - will get something up on http://bitcoinbrighton.com/ . Flawless are doing great things with Bitcoin here, good to see them getting involved. For some reason I get a message "Proxy access not allowed" when going to http://spacedrop.sterlingcoin.org.uk/ - any ideas? Running laetst Firefox. Also is there any reward for a kid born on the launch day? ;-)

Oddly/coincidentally, sentence 51 of chapter 7 ties in with the riddle that the hatter sets ("Why is a raven like a writing desk?"):
If my counting's right:
48: “Have you guessed the riddle yet?” the Hatter said, turning to Alice again. 49/ 50: “No, I give it up,” Alice replied. “What’s the answer?” 51: ”I haven’t the slightest idea,” said the Hatter.
The answer to the riddle itself isn't in the book, but Lewis Carroll came up with an answer later: "Because it can produce a few notes, tho they are very flat; and it is never put with the wrong end in front!"
(Or "nevar" backwords, in other words.)
But can't get anything from that to open the zip file. No idea if I'm on the right track or not.

Chapter Seven – A Mad Tea-Party: Alice becomes a guest at a "mad" tea party along with the March Hare, the Hatter, and a very tired Dormouse who falls asleep frequently, only to be violently woken up moments later by the March Hare and the Hatter. The characters give Alice many riddles and stories, including the famous 'Why is a raven like a writing desk?'. The Hatter reveals that they have tea all day because Time has punished him by eternally standing still at 6 pm (tea time). Alice becomes insulted and tired of being bombarded with riddles and she leaves claiming that it was the stupidest tea party that she had ever been to.
Does anybody have the original book?
Can you check word number 51?
I get "talking" as the 51st word in this chapter, but no jot opening the zip with it.

Wow, finally catching/caught up with this thread - good going.
Did I miss something? What was the bitly link in the end? I worked out up-up-down-down = bit. Don't get where the rest of the URL comes from though.

A couple of random thoughts: There are 26 parts divided by orange dots before the blue dot (1 part is empty though). I thought this might relate to letters of the alphabet, but some parts are the same, so doubtful it's a direct key. If red and green do represent bits, and each part isn't a set length, it's not clear why you'd start (or end, depending on direction) with a 0 bit in some cases only. Suspect they represent something else, like direction? I'm assuming the dots run right-to-left, not top-to-bottom... Could the red/yellow/blue colours relate to the colours in the Darkwallet logo's triangle? [Edit: The red/yellow/green/blue prism spectrum also turns up in the logo for the related Darkmarket project, e.g. http://www.wired.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Screen-Shot-2014-04-22-at-4.45.06-PM.png]
