1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [Cast XMR] high speed XMR/CryptoNight miner for RX Vega GPUs (2 KHash/s) on: November 05, 2017, 06:00:29 PM
I have an issue when comparing hash rates reported from cast-xmr and the hashrates I see at the pool (supportxmr).

My benchmark rig is made of 4xVega56 flashed to 64 cards.

The hashrates for the rig shown by cast-xmr are 7870h/s, constant (i.e. no drops or anything). It's very stable within 40h/s.

However, the real hash rate reported by the pool (supportxmr) are lower than expected. I get 7250h/s. This is about 7.8% lower than reported by cast.

If we take into account:

-) 1.5% dev fee: 118,05 h/s
-) Rejected errors from old jobs (2%): 155 h/s

The total is 273h/s or 3.4%

I'm missing a total of 620H/s (7.8%!). That is another 347h/s  4.4% and is a relevant number.

I have no errors or disconnects. I've been chatting with the maintainers of supportxmr and they sustain that the 24hr period shall fall within 0.1-0.2% of the expected hash rate but mostly never beyond 1%. We're talking 4.4% here.

I'd like to ask if anybody is experiencing something similar, or do your real hash rates (from pools) actually match the reported cast-xmr rates?

thanks.

Try using something like xmr-stak-amd and test it on their pool and see if you get the same variance, if so it's because it's hard to calculate real hash rate since the server doesn't know your hash rate until you submit 1 share, you can be unlucky and not find like 2 in a row and only 1 etc all that will influence it.

It's just the new coin electroneum or whatever, since it uses cryptonight too and the only way to get them right now is mining until the ICO coins are released.

Any chance of adding cast xmr or xmr-stak-amd for cryptonight?
They're more optimized for vega so would be a good boost.
Thanks!
We are well aware.
Until the version before last, it was only supporting Vega. Latest experimental version is more robust, supporting also rx480.
We have our finger on the pulse, and will add it when ready  Smiley

Thank you, looking forward to it to migrate to your service.

Thanks once again.

Ok Tried --opengl 1  that didnt work.  Im using the basic config "cast_xmr -S [pool server] -u [username or wallet address]"

Thanks anyway

--opencl 1, but not --opengl 1
Yep tried that one also earlier when I was reading  gandalph's "how to" on his website.   Still something missing.  Ill try later tonight to get it running.

apologies about that, keep mixing opengl/cl up. The only other thing I did was to change the default word to a number eg 20000, 50000 etc

What do you mean with changing to 20000/50000? What did you change?

Cheers.

Also the version is working pretty well!

Mining monero there with 1 vega 56 atm, here's hoping for some new blocks!

Good to have you aboard Smiley
What is your hashrate? We have tested the Vega 56 to 1700 H/sec.

Right now 2000-2005h/s with 1148 mem speed at 885mv on the mem and 1408/905mv on the gpu clock (Using cast xmr)

Waiting for killawatt to compare 1100 mem to 1148 in consumption to see if it's worth it, otherwise was getting 1970h/s with 1100 mem clock.

Also on my card i had to change soc to 1200 to be able to overclock memory higher than 1100.
how to overclock the memory above 1100?

Check this thread http://www.overclock.net/t/1633446/preliminary-view-of-amd-vega-bios

why overclock
with 1100 work good and satble
2005h avergae

Is that with 56 or 64?

With 56 with the 110@900mv it didn't hit 2k for me, was more like 1970ish. And with the soc overclock i can even run 1148 at 885mv instead of 900.
With more than 200Watt you can reach more than 2000H/s.
With 1408-1100@905mV my V56 can mine 1970H/s with 165 Watt

Yeah i'm running at 1408-1148@905mv (with 885mv on memory instead of 900) so the power usage should be around the same i guess?

Waiting for my killawatt Sad

I'm having problems with the script. The manual disable/enable works fine.

output of script:
C:\Users\monero\Desktop>devcon.exe disable "PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_687F"

C:\Users\monero\Desktop>timeout /t 5

Obviously it found 4 Cards but was not able to disable it?
I'm on build 1703 and I downloaded devcon.exe the following way:

Thanks for your awesome contribution Mythic

I have two 3-card vega 56 rigs. All cards are the sapphire ones. Short side story, bought these 14 days ago from newegg for $520 and today I see that they are going for $420 on their eBay site and $470 on their main site. So I call them up to see if they do a price match but they would only do 50% of the $470, telling me some bogus bullcrap that they can only do 50% of the $470 price. So just warning yall when dealing with newegg.

Anyways I been reading up on this thread, the one from reddit, and the other vega thread. Using the latest cast XMR is giving me around 5650  hashrate total for my 3 cards(vs 5500 on XMRstak), on both my rigs. Im getting around 590w of power for each rig which puts my cards at around 170w. This is all on stock everything with me only using the settings recommended for wattman (hbm on, intensity -4%, core 950-905, fan 3000-4900, PL -20%). And so far 0 rejected shares on both rigs mining for at least an hour on the new version.

So overall im pretty happy but i'm wondering if i can push there cards to 2050? I think I read I have to put the memclock to at least 1050 which i know most if not all my cards cant do. I would also like to shave off some power which I think should be doable with a little work. I haven't messed with the cards bios but doesnt seem to be all that difficult to do.

Not sure if 2050 is possible per card, atm i have my memory at 1148 and got like 2004/2005 hashrate.

Which reg mod are you using? The one from reddit monero guide?

Also on my card i had to change soc to 1200 to be able to overclock memory higher than 1100.
