1  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance stops GBP deposits in the UK - Where to buy Bitcoin in UK now? on: May 22, 2023, 09:04:36 AM
Thanks all! I have tried CoinBase but the fees tend to be a bit higher on there, trying to find the cheapest way to get my Bitcoin. Will look at CoinCorner too

Binance has always been my go to platform to buy Bitcoin in the UK with lower fees and a good level of trust. However today they have stopped allowing GBP deposits and I'm I don't know anywhere else that can offer the same level of service as Binance. Can anyone recommend an alternative?

Yes it is quite annoying, like most things in life there isn't really a way to make free money, but mining comes close if you can get it to be efficient

Thanks, this is helpful.

I actually have two wallet word phrases written down, one of 17 words and one of 18 and i'm unsure which it is so trying them both.

Have tried the 18 word phrase with BIP39 in electrum with no joy so maybe it is the other one, but that would have to be a blockchain info phrase so maybe it isn't' that one either.

For Multibit Classic I would have had to export private keys when I still had the laptop, which I didn't.

Thinking I may have exhausted all possibilities, unless anyone has any other suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

I believe I have tried exactly this and it didn't work so I may be doing it wrong.

Can you restore a Multibit Classic Wallet in the same was and would that use the same m/0' derivation path?

Does a Multibit Wallet HAVE to be restored in electrum, or can I use a different wallet?

I've still got the transaction number on a receipt, can I search the blockchain for this transaction?

A few years ago I bought some BTC from a Bitcoin ATM but inadvertently sent it to a Multibit wallet on laptop that had been stolen. It wasn’t much money at the time so I cursed my mistake and moved on but would like to try and recover that wallet now.

I’ve seen Multibit has since stopped being supported. Will it be possible to recover this wallet? I’ve got the private key and a code word phase about 17 or 18 words long.

I’ve tried to restore through electrum wallet but think perhaps it might pre-date the BIP 32 seeds it asks for as I set up the original wallet in 2014.

Are there any other up to date wallets I can use to try and recover?
