1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Innosilicon releases A9 Zmaster 50ksol/s Equihash miner at 620W on: October 25, 2018, 02:16:57 PM
Does anybody know if we need to upgrade our miners for the Zcash sapling fork? I am still on one of the good pieces of firmware but if I am unable to mine Zcash that will be an issue. (I mine NiceHash anyway but it is possible that I could be mining Zcash) So does anyone know if a firmware update is required? Also as for the memory problem Y'all remember when I was talking about HiveOS on these ASIC's? I talked with the Dev and he has implemented a reboot cron timer on it, for either the ASIC or the Miner software. https://github.com/minershive/hiveos-asic You can see how to enable the reboot command down below. They also have a bulk tool installation. Do keep in mind it does take a while to install on the ASIC (About 4-5 minutes) and once you have all of your ASIC's on Hive you can initiate the command all at once for all of your ASIC's. They will all appear as offline but come back after about 15 minutes but they will keep mining and after that is done you have no need to worry about the memory leak error as it will reboot the ASIC every 24 hours. I have not had a problem with the memory leak since I initiated this command. I recommend that y'all do the same.

Another part of the reason we are not making that much right now is largely due to the reduction in price. Difficulty really hasn't been that bad with with ZEC being at $120 as opposed to $150 that is where it is really hurting us.

EDIT: Also, does anyone happen to know if they fixed the memory leak issue yet? I have yet to upgrade to the latest firmware as some people had issues with it.

Not fixed, and still goes offline frequently and has to be powered off/on again. Very bad.

Damn, that really sucks, check out HiveOS This ASIC is supported with the latest release, I'm working with the dev to get an issue fixed, when the ASIC crashes Hive is unable to remount, he says it will be fixed in the next release, I am seeing if he is able to add a auto reboot timer into hive that will reboot the ASIC totally after like 12 hours, still recommend you check it out, I use it for all of my GPU rigs as well. Still wish Innosilicon would fix this issue.

Has anyone gotten confirmation of their september batch shipping? I'm waiting on 6 "free" models from one order and 15 "free" models from another order. Just curious if anyone else has gotten anything. It's kinda crucial that these things go on soon. What's interesting is the spikes of difficulty still. I think the difficulty will increase btu there is also more than one equihash algorithm. If all these asics coming out disperse across the different coins difficulty will only be marginally highly as opposed to everyone going to Zcash or Horizen. Just hope we don't get burned with these asics, I have confidence that if people disperse we will all be fine.

I managed to update half of my miners with the new firmware. The other half has still the 6th of July version.
With the new firmware I get only 45kSols in Factory mode. Performace+ mode gives me 53kSols. With the 6th of July firmware I am getting 53kSols on any Perfomance settings. I set them to performance, just for the better feeling. Benefit of the old firmware is the faster ramping up to full speed.

So 6th of July compared to the recent firmware seems to be superior in my opinion, except if the new firmware shows less rejects on long term. I will see. Also we will see if they fixed the memory bug.

I'd be very curious to see if this fixes the memory leak issue. Interested to hear your results.

Testing this on one of our A9's with PLL at 1400 and VID at 175 looks like it is doing about 2-3k more sols than before at times (still jumping around a bit) but time will tell how much better it is, imo it seems slightly better, but if you put that into perspective if you have a lot of these it can make a big difference! So far seems pretty stable!
