Some gambling sites are currently running "give-away" promotions.

Resist the temptation and just be careful not to give it all back (and some more).

4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does transferring BTC into a wallet require downloading the entire block chain? on: July 12, 2013, 03:49:58 PM
If you just want to try your hand on BTC and have no immediate intention to "invest" hundreds or thousands of your fiat currency, I would suggest using a web wallet to test the water.

Coinbase
Blockchain
inputs.io

are just three of many available options.

Few of my friends started with the immediate installation of the official client, and straight away, got pissed off by the need to download 8 or 9 GB of "useless" date (their words) before they can even do anything. Hence my suggestion above.

Good luck, and welcome to the BTC family.
5  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Original Bitcointalk Forum Names on: July 12, 2013, 03:35:51 PM
I am selling the above usernames. These are perfect if you go by that alias. They are brand new accounts so they have no leeway for scammers. I have no real use for these so offer me any amount and I will most likely take it.

Names:
Rampage
Extreme
Support
Warrior
Phobia
Fresh
ELITE
Agent
Virus
dope
Pyro

It appears that you have just created brand new forum accounts with these names earlier today.

You are, therefore, no better than "domain squatting".

When you type start(), the console will print the value returned by the function, but my function doesn't return anything, it just start the bot. After executing start() go to "My Bets" on the site and you will see the bot betting automatically.

Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, as I said before, after I typed "start()", the console's response was "undefined", and no action appeared under "My Bets".

The console throw up "connection errors" more or less immediately after I pressed F12. This seems to be the "problem" in the first place.

Any advise on this?

Are you aware that the script in post #152 is outdated?  Just-dice uses a CSRF token now.  Search dice.js for socket.emit("bet" and perhaps you'll find the answer.

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately, I am completely useless in scripts and have no idea what you are talking about.

Can some kind soul post a up to date working script? It would be great to be able to automate the process rather than hitting the keyboard continuously (plus the occasionally mistakes, of course).

Thanks for everybody's kindness.

Hi, I tried to run a script (at post #152) but failed. Can someone help?

OS: Windows XP
Chrome

I pressed F12, then immediately face with the following error:

Quote
Port error: Could not establish connection. Receiving end does not exist.
chromeHidden.Port.dispatchOnDisconnect

and on the left hand side

Quote
extensions/miscellaneous_bindings.js:146

Regardless of the above, I pasted the script and pressed enter. I then get the following:

Quote
c
$events: Object
ackPackets: 0
acks: Object
flags: Object
json: d
name: ""
socket: d
__proto__: c

I then typed "start()", and the console returned "undefined".

I am at a lost as I have never used a script in the browser before.

Any advise would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the most reliable source for current price feeds? on: June 30, 2013, 08:06:29 AM
It really depends on what you want? Do you just need to monitor the price, or need API to do something more?

for the former, bitcoinchart gives a at-a-glance price comparison: http://bitcoincharts.com/markets/currency/USD.html (you can also change to other currencies)
11  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bad News on: June 30, 2013, 08:02:04 AM
So basically there is ZERO CORRELATION between difficulty and price. Quite at odds with the exclamations to the contrary.

I totally agree!

Glad to see that you have come to you senses.

Congratulation, and enjoy your life with the one you love!

one of my favorite: http://bitcoinrichlist.com/charts/bitcoin-distribution-by-address

this show that on 7 May, the majority (nearly 95%) of bitcoin addresses are worthless, more or less. Only around 1.5% of addresses hold any significant value (>1BTC)

If accurate, that's staggering.

I have no reason to doubt its accuracy.

According to the site's FAQ, results are obtained via https://github.com/znort987/blockparser
19  Economy / Gambling / Re: [hashdice.com] best dice bet game ever with crowedfunding on: June 26, 2013, 06:55:13 AM
Interesting!

As far as I can see, you are actually discouraging people to place bets as results will only be known (on average), every ten minutes.

I also see that you have a "block time" on the top right corner which is (I guess), your local time (GMT+8). I guess you are based (or from) China. Possible to adjust the time to something appropriate to the player, or at least (I think blockchain uses GMT)
