When the last BTC is mined around 2140, what happens to the whole ecosystem? I mean, there won't be anymore incentives for the miners to verify and confirm transactions, right? The only reason miners confirm the transactions in the whole BTC ecosystem is to be rewarded with more BTC. No more BTC reward, no confirmations. Thoughts?

I was just wondering if we could apply the decentralized aspects of bitcoin to fix the stagnation of American politics. Instead of having Senators and Representatives, can't we just vote for laws and amendments? Just get rid off the middleman? With technology and the internet why do we need representatives to represent us? Our democracy will be based on consensus, just like our beloved bitcoin.  Just a thought.
