State of Development: Week of Jan 15th, 2018

This week we created release 0.5.0. This release is focused around Oracles.

The Oracle WebSocket API is used to interact with Oracles on the blockchain (see Oracles — intended usage). The documentation for the API can be found

The release also includes:

*Refinements of the HTTP API — replacing Base64 encoding with Base58Check.
*Expansion of the HTTP API, enabling the building of apps on top of it.
*Introduction of a Docker image for the node.
*Improvements in the stability of the Testnet.

Don't have much of technical knowledge but after seeing weekly reports, it seems like the development is in full swing.

You can review this link: https://github.com/aeternity

And this link: https://www.pivotaltracker.com/n/projects/2124891

The github is where the development happens, and the pivotaltracker is what they're working on at the moment.

The launch of the mainnet should still be in q1 2018 ? Some people here writing launch will be in q2
Is there any updated statement from the team about that? Soon would be nice  Cheesy

It says Q2 on the website

So what does this coin do?

What do you think the price of AEternity be in next two year time? I am keeping my target as $100 is it too much?

Two years time? I can't even imagine... That feels like a LONG time from now. I would say that if Mainnet Q2 launches well this year, then over $100 in two years is very feasible. Ethereum went from $2 to $1000 in one year, Aeternity can do the same if not better.

Recent AE rise can be attributed to Aenews.io for spreading news about Aeternity, and also Aeternity being accepted into the largest Fiat to Cryptocurrency marketplace in China, Coinw.com

Also Gate.io

Hello everyone,

We do notice that the new strong desire of the community is exchange listings.

We have stated our position on this numerous times before - we focus on development. We want to build a valuable product that will be around for many years to come. A thriving decentralized economy with the AE at the center of it.

Please remain patient and trust in our vision & approach to realizing it.

Regards,
The AE Team

Thank you for replying! This is what we have been looking for to clear the FUD! If people are spreading false rumors or unsure of something, please do not hesitate to step in, it might not seem like much but even a short reply like this is a really helpful step in building confidence in people.

Does AE have a plan for binance? Huh Huh Huh Huh

Someone here said that Aeternity team would not be pushing to be listed on new exchanges before the launch of mainnet.

So no binance for now

If Aeternity members could explain it themselves the reason why we're not being put on Binance yet, that would at least answer some questions. Right now it's just community members talking to other community members about possible exchanges, and Aeternity team saying "They read it all" but then they don't reply to anything. Lol.

Can AE be added to both exchanges? We need AE on more exchanges, Liqui and Etherdelta is not enough. We're not on any major exchanges, Bittrex and Binance would be great.

There are almost two weeks but this time will pass very quickly and we will be in new year. Then it will not be talk of next year and the development and release of mainnet will be subject of months. I have big bet on Aetrenity's success and will keep holding until I get my targeted profit from this.
yes, i hold AE till now and never sold one coin, i am just waiting for the mainnet online, i believe this project will give us a big surprise

They should call you Mr. Iron Hands Cheesy

I agree as well, Aeternity will be huge

I know Main-net is slated to launch at Q2 in 2018 but do we know what month they are for the aiming for the launch?

The exact information is not yet available, because The test-net was not started yet. After its launch and testing, it will be possible to make more accurate information about the launch.

Aeternity testnet has already started: https://blog.aeternity.com/%C3%A6ternity-testnet-released-e8fcee3a8355

I try to send to liqui but this showed

Account you are sending from does not have enough funds. If sending tokens, you must have 0.01 ETH in your account to cover the cost of gas.

Gas prices are what it costs if you want to move tokens or ether from one address to another. Gas prices are usually very cheap like 0.000048 but I think you need a minimum 0.01 to be able to send anything around. Not my rules, you just need 0.01 ETH first if you want to move ETH or its tokens around.

Was this the reason thats why it was pending? Do i just need to deposit 0.01 or it is the transaction fee i need? Thanks

Well the error says you need 0.01 to make the transaction, so I would say that's the minimum you need, not the gas price minimum.

Also it might be pending because the network is congested right now.

Also this got buried in the last page but the testnet has been launched!!

Great news everyone!

æternity's new (re-written) testnet is now live! It employes some very basic functionalities, but it is the first important step towards mainnet release.

As usual, we have done an official announcement at the blog.

READ IT HERE

Development work is ongoing and we will keep you posted.

Bug-bounties will be announced soon!

Regards,
The AE Team

Really exciting! Great work Aeternity team!!

Hmm we need more community involvement with Aeternity. I have already made some threads to spread the message of what it's about, and I have made some artwork too. I will continue to do more of this when the test net arrives, and I hope others can take part in growing Aeternity as well, because we make up this community, we are the early adopters, we have to be the ones help to spread its message (but again I'm really waiting for the testnet to launch so I can say how awesome this project is, and once mainnet comes that's another level of spreading the message).

I really like this website made by a community member: http://www.aenews.io/

We need more sites like that one. I think Aeternity intentionally does not want to put itself up on any big exchanges yet because they do not have a test net or mainnet launch yet. All of this stuff is upcoming. This is the most outstanding project being worked on in the blockchain space, and we are very lucky that the main developers and team are giving constant updates on the project. Seriously, most ICOs barely give any updates on anything.

I have been keeping a close eye on the Github here: https://github.com/aeternity
And the PivotalTracker here: https://www.pivotaltracker.com/n/projects/2124891

Both of those links are public and was posted in one of their blog posts. They show and track how Aeternity is doing, and what kinds of development goals they have.

Do your part and spread the message in your own way. Tell people about Aeternity, make Aeternity merchandise (like shirts and stuff) and sell them for AE. Work on an AE project.

Do your freaking part if you want Aeternity to thrive as much as the team working on it does.
16  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin cash on: December 01, 2017, 03:59:43 AM
I really once hated Bitcoin Cash at one point including Roger Ver and Jihan Wu, and I wanted to get rid of my BCH right away. Good freaking thing I didn't get the wallet thing to work and put it off for several months or else I would've sold the BCH that I had for a really cheap regretful price, now that the price has gone up by a lot, I'm holding my BCH and acquiring some more. It's an awesome coin, feels like a second chance to get Bitcoin for cheap again.
I'm not a big fan of Roger Ver either (like the most people here), but all I care really is the coin price. I got into BCH after the 'civil war' few weeks back when it was around 1000$ and I don't regret it. Should any similar attack happen again, I'll be sleeping well with some BCH in the bag. Will be HODLing and possibly buying more if some dips come. I agree with the narrative this might be a 2nd chance to get into the Bitcoin train, since I missed the Core Train when the prices were really cheap. BCH has tripled during the past month and won't be long until it's 2000$.

Pretty much the only thing I will be spending my money on once BitStamp and other exchanges start to offer BCH / USD pairs as BTC is currently way too expensive for me to put any money in. I have already made a killing by buying BTC back in 2013, but it's 2017 now and I don't have enough money to buy BTC at $10k.

What's better, $1k for an entire Bitcoin Cash (it is a fork but has a competitive market and it's an entire coin) or $1k for 0.1 Bitcoin, where you basically missed the train already? I think it's more rational to buy BCH especially if they're both claiming to be the Bitcoin and both have good arguments on either side.
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][LSK] Lisk | Blockchain Application Platform for JavaScript Developers on: November 27, 2017, 07:13:00 AM
LISK is a shitty ass coin, I have over 100 LISK and I hate this shit.

I hate that you have to type in the entire passphrase to use the wallet. I hate how there are no updates. I hate how terrible the team is and how slow progress is going. I hate how dumb the supporters are because all they say is "LISK IS GONNA BE THE BEST" which they have been saying for several years but can't see its flaws because they are so deluded having supported vaporware for several years.

I hate how the voting delegate system is absolute garbage. I hate how unfairly the coins are distributed and how the super rich get richer. Everyone outside the top 10 wallet holders is basically a pawn as they hold a majority of the coins.

I hate LISK soooooo much. It's such a terrible ass coin but I still have some because I know idiots will buy them.

Bought 5000 tokens on etherdelta..
is there an option to do staking or run nodes .. where we earn additional coins

Hey looks like you can make ae from running an oracle and feeding it data for smart contracts to draw from. This is from the whitepaper:

"æternity is the only blockchain where users can make money by creating oracles for different data feeds and we expect a thriving oracle ecosystem to develop quickly. In the future even AIs might be able to create oracles for profit."

https://github.com/aeternity/aeternity-reimagined/blob/master/oracles.md

I wonder if an Oracle can generate new datas. I'm kinda unfamiliar with this tech so, let's say I feed it with some text, will it be able to predict more text, like a sort of decentralized A.I model ?

Oracles just let you access external data not on the blockchain. Like let's say you want to get the name of the first google.com search result for a certain query, you use an oracle to find the name of that search result since it lies outside the blockchain.

I doubt it will go even near to Neo etherum is far away to reach, They have made hype before ICO Godfather of Etherum after ICO lots of Issue with Management, Full development structure change, Promised to mine on Mobile for mass market adoption everything changed.

this coin could surpass ethereum

You got that wrong. Mobile phone mining is for a more decentralized network (and it is still happening). This combined with John Tromp's Cuckoo Cycle algo should prevent the network from being held hostage by mining cartels and the like. Mass adoption is driven by web browser integration, a mobile first approach and a bunch of æapps at mainnet launch or soon after.

Check out the team page. Aeternity have recently hired some absolute guns and have been making massive progress in a short amount of time.

I can see AE being in the top 10 by 4th quarter 2018 #Moon-Soon

I saw that. They hired around 10 new Erlang developers? I'm just looking at their pictures and age, these guys are not to be fucked with. They looked experienced and hardened in code as fuck. Good stuff going on here.
