1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: arOpenCLMAX - MAX coin OpenCL miner - Works with AMD, NVIDIA XPT on: February 08, 2014, 03:00:11 AM
Someone had suggested to me to start up 2 separate clients to get GPU usage up.  It was at 82%.  Doing the 2 clients did bump GPU usage to 94%.  Even though they both saying they're doing some ridiculous amount khps... I'm still submitting the same # of shares as I did with just 1 client going.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: arOpenCLMAX - MAX coin OpenCL miner - Works with AMD, NVIDIA XPT on: February 07, 2014, 10:41:35 PM
Gpu usage is only 88%. Any tweaking suggestions?  Tongue
Copy folder with miner and run two instances.

2 to the same -d?

Is there any sort of tweaking config we can do?

Feels like we're waiting on something that's never going to happen.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Price manipulation and market frontrunning at mcxnow.com on: September 27, 2013, 02:58:32 PM
Thank you for warning me for this scam.

This will absolutely not happen on BTC-e and Cryptsy or MtGox.

Also that they have this special chatroom I didn't know, very smart of them because where else could they draft their hideous plans?

Bullshit.  The whales does it on all of the exchanges.  It's just not as noticeable.  That and the fact the whales like doing it at mcxnow because of its lower trading fees.

And no, they don't do it in some special chat.  They probably do it via skype or any other messenger.

hp10 ubuntu x64 build has the following error everyday. Anybody has the same problem?

primecoind: checkqueue.h:171: CCheckQueueControl<T>::CCheckQueueControl(CCheckQueue<T>*) [with T = CScriptCheck]: Assertion `pqueue->nTotal == pqueue->nIdle' failed.

I'm using Ubuntu 13.04 64-bit and haven't seen this yet.

I'm still confused as to how curecoin will contribute to folding.  Will the algo be folding or what?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN]Curecoin beta pool test - user limit lifted - Lets hit the Mile Stone 1200R on: August 15, 2013, 02:27:37 PM
The problem might be that your looking at folding like you do at Hashing.  They are totally separate things.  When hashing, your rate pretty much can stay stable from now til the end of time, because your doing small calculations over and over again.  It never differs.  In folding, sometimes a single fold will take 1-2 days, If your folding a 70k workload and it takes 0.75 of a day to finish it, your days will look like 75K / 150K / 75K / 150K.  If however you get put on a different project.  Say folding for a cancer cure as opposed to folding for a cure for Malaria, the calculations will be way different, and the time it takes to complete will vary dramatically as well.  The work units are set to pretty much equal out overtime.  so in the case of a 75K / 150K flip flop your avg is 112.5K per day

thanks for the explanation. another question, is folding really different from mining, because when I'm mining my GPU fan spins really loud, but when folding it doesn't make any sound. both shows 100% usage, and the temp is also lower when folding. both have the same OC, and I don't set any GPU related thing in my cgminer.

Mining produces quite a bit more heat.  I was quite surprised when I went from folding to mining.

Yes, I am an idiot Smiley

Nope, you are just lazy: functionally it's less of a problem than idiocy, but ethically it's worse Cheesy

Just kidding, I think it's just hard to follow every thread (especially when your watchlist contains 50+ topics)

Yeah, it's really hard to follow a thread like this especially when dealing with outside issues like work/school/etc.

I feel like I'm going to be lazy asking this question since it probably has been answered somewhere in the thread, but I have two similar computers mining. Both have Phenom II processors and one is running windows 7 and the other is running ubuntu 13.04. Both computers are running hp9. The one running it in windows is getting 0.7 cpd and the Ubuntu one is getting 0.5 cpd despite the fact that they have phenom IIs with the same number of cores and the same clock speed. Could this be caused by the fact that one of these is a quad core chip (the 0.7 cpd cpu) and one is one of the 6 core ones with two cores locked (the 0.5 cpd chip)? I'm just trying to figure out what I should be doing to get the one with lower performance to match the other one.

Which chips are they?  It could be their cache sizes.

So after you give out round 1 to beta testers are you going to release early to others who donate after?

I don't think its too crazy to ask for some results before we donate.  I bet there are lots of people on the fence with donations ready once some proof of work and or results can be seen.

I wouldn't do it.  Some folks will donate to get early beta and then just share with public.  And then the public will just tear programmers apart saying it's a p.o.s.  Keep it within the "inner" circle until it's actually ready for public.

It's exactly how I've been feeling about it so far.  It's a token system and not a cryptocoin.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN]Curecoin beta pool test - sign up now - current max only 50 users for beta! on: July 26, 2013, 03:55:21 PM
Yea F@H hates my computers.

My 6950s/5850s only get 7k PPD per card now on Work Unit 8900 on Core_17.

I did try Core_16 but I don't remember my PPD.

It doesn't hate your computers, it hates your graphics cards :p AMDs are known to give less PPD than nVidia cards (hence the nVidia giveaway and not AMD).

Yea I know nVidia has the edge on this but on the other forums, according to other users Work Unit 8901 gave AMD 6950 users around 45k PPD per card on Core_17 (client-type=beta). I can't get the 8901 WU or anywhere near those PPD rates.

It's now client type advanced.  Not beta.

And folding no longer HATES AMD.  My 7970 can do 120K PPD.

Yup using the client-type=advanced tag but it just doesn't want to work. Sad

I guess I'm doing something wrong somewhere. Even my tray icon has disappeared.

How's the GPU usage?

I just wish I could get my chainspermin up.  tried sievepercentage 6 and 12, and tried roundsievepercentage 40... they did not do better than the above.

did you try 100K/10/30?

Here are the settings that yielded the highest CPM w/good to great PPS.

"roundsievepercentage" : 40,
"sievepercentage" : 8,
"sievesize" : 200000,

"roundsievepercentage" : 25,
"sievepercentage" : 10,
"sievesize" : 100000,

"roundsievepercentage" : 20,
"sievepercentage" : 8,
"sievesize" : 100000,

"roundsievepercentage" : 30,
"sievepercentage" : 10,
"sievesize" : 100000,

I did try 100k/10/30.  Same CPM but 500 less PPS.

If I don't find a block in the next 8 hours I'm changing it to 1M.  The high PPS is nice... but it seems bad luck at finding a block.

For the AMD folks... Bulldozer ONLY optimized HP8 client win 7 64

 *experimental* but works fine testnet with 8150s, 4300s,  waiting for block @ mainnet

*encrypt/backup wallet, never trust downloads on the internets... will not be held responsible, etc

How does this compare to hp8 in Linux.

So there's no mining?  You're just paying people to fold?
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [ANN]Curecoin beta pool test - sign up now - current max only 50 users for beta! on: July 24, 2013, 04:13:36 PM
I don't understand.  Is the idea to get paid to fold or is this an actual coin similar to primecoin?

I almost didn't join mcxNOW when I first seen it because it felt dungeon or underground like to me.  What persuaded me most to join was the people chit chatting.  They knew what they were talking about and there were no trolls for a very long time.  Now there is though.  Sad

Sorry i am new to all this ...
But there is one thing i dont get.
I tryed to run it with a primecoin.conf file and changed parameters like rpcuser ... rpcpassword ... gen=0 gen=1 and also with rpcport=9910 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 with server=1 and daemon=1.
I did not receive any block in earlier stages ... difficulty was past 8 to this stage ...
as i deleted the conf file and run the wallet without it i received two blocks in two hours ...
How can that be ... Luck ? I was using hp3 ...
So my question is is the conf file needed or not ??

Thx

Sounds like coincidence.

But why did you have both gen=0 and gen=1 in there?
