1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bizarre RX580 problem on: January 19, 2018, 08:36:45 PM
Yup, had to RMA the card, looks like the memory died - GPU-Z showed RAM at 0GB...

Now the other Powercolor RX580 is starting to show memory errors at settings that were just fine for 6 months, oh uh. Bad batch of cards in summer when there was a big shortage (like now...)Huh
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Bizarre RX580 problem on: January 07, 2018, 01:20:41 AM
Hi all,

need some help with a strange issue with one of my RX580 cards.
The card is in a 6 GPU rig, AMD only GPUs (but different 5x0 models).
It's a Powercolor Red Dragon V2 8GB RX 580, modded bios.
It's been running just fine since August, no issues, very little memory errors, stable undervolt at 825mV, 2100 memory clock.
The suddently today, the rig starts rebooting over and over. I pinpointed the problem to this card (rig runs ok without it!) - when it starts mining in Claymore Dual 10.2, after DAG creation, it just gets about 600 million memory errors and the rig reboots.
What I tried with to no avail:
- different 8-pin power cable
- different USB cable for the riser
- put it on a riser which was previously used by on of other cards
- reduced the undervolt and memory clock
- disconnected other cards (except iGPU from where I run the monitor)
- disabled it in Device Manager
- removed the drivers with DDU and reinstalled with this card only
- flashed the bios to stock

What happened when running this card only after reinstalling the drivers is especially weird. The card - even when disabled! - seems to be running the GPU clock at 1350MHz (memory stays at 300) and is heating up, the fan eventually kicks in... while the card is supposed to be doing absolutely nothing.

Any ideas apart from putting it into another system (which I don't have at hand atm)?
The entire rig started acting weird then I reconnected the other cards - had to run DDU a couple of times, disconnect all GPUs and reconnect (+ patch drivers) them one by one as I usually do with AMD rigs. When I connected the problematic card the system got unstable again, freezing etc.

- Win10 1709
- Aug 23 Blockchain beta drivers
- Gigabyte GA-H110-D3A mobo with Mining mode bios (PCIe Gen 2, 4G Encoding on etc)
- Corsair HX1000 PSU

The closest thing to NH seems to be MiningPoolHub - there you can actually let it choose which coin it mines (most profitable one for specific algo), you just set up claymore to run an algo... also, you can set up auto exchange to BTC. Downside, no way in hell to actually know approx how much you're making per day other than check the BTC balance every day at the same time.

If you for example mine ETN, set up wallet and Cryptopia and want to convert to BTC and send BTC to where you make USD withdrawals, oh my, 34$ BTC wallet to BTC wallet fee, wtf!

75W is in GPU-Z, not wall, and with ETH-only (not dual mining).
Dual mining... <100W in GPU-Z is quite good.

Try Aug 23 drivers + this bios:
https://www.miningtweaks.com/sapphire-rx-580-nitroplus-4gb-elpida-bios/ (Elpida)

I get 30MH Eth solo mining, 29.3 with decred/lbry, 790H/s Cryptonight, all with Claymore.
My cards have Elpida memory as well.
By far the best value in a mining GPU so far!
I undervolt and overclock directly in Claymore:
-cvddc 825 -mvddc 825 -cclock 1150 -mclock 2050 -powlim 0 for ETH.

If you have a rig, i.e. several cards, set Windows virtual memory to 16 or even 32GB.
Also, try setting PCI-e to Gen1 in mobo bios, sometimes that solves some issues as well, don't ask why.

Anyone mining BTG on Minergate? I've been hashing since Friday, but the balance/reward is 0, unconfirmed balance also 0.
Stats so far:
Good shares:46,353
Blocks:0
Unconfirmed:0.00000000
Total mined:0.00000000

Pool stats say 3 blocks have been found since I started mining...
Is it normal it takes so long to get rewards??

If you want to sell hashpower and not mine altcoins, then there's no alternative.
I'm not "challenged" when it comes to setting up miners, optimizing (AMD) GPUs, bios modding, cloud mining, ... but quickly noticed that 1% there, 2% there, 2% there, conversion to BTC, network fee etc. make the entire enterprise unpredictable & extremely risky. Enter Nicehash... get paid for hashrate in BTC to external wallet, 9 cents wire to EU bank account and that's it. And Nicehash Legacy miner gives you all the options you need for undervolting, overclocking AMD cards (for claymore), eliminating even overclocking tools.
The only way to make the concept better is to offer payouts/purchases in USD/EUR!

I'm running several PowerColor RX 580 8GB Red Dragon V2 GPUs at 29.5MH/s (dual mining) at 100W GPU-Z and about 130W at wall, very stable at 825/850mV undervolt (1150/2100MHz).
9  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: My RX580 8GB PowerColor only 22,5Mh on: November 06, 2017, 10:36:47 PM
Thank for your help

Do you have Red Devil or Red Dragon?
After BIOS mod, my RX 580 8GB Red Dragon with Hynix memory does 29.5MH/s (dual mining).
Memory clock 2100, core clock 1150, power limit -20, core and memory voltage both at 850mV.
I'm using Anorak's powersave bios with 1750 straps copied to 2000, see https://anorak.tech/t/powercolor-rx-580-reddragon/5278 .

Try undervolting directly in Claymore.
Also, what finally worked for me is setting memory voltage equal to (or lower than) core voltage. When memory voltage was higher, core undervolt simply didn't work or stick.

what is the average consumption in the 580? The best I can get is 94w checked in gpuz.

I'll try to undervolt via claymore.

94W in GPU-Z is quite good for dual mining (I have 96W for one 580 and 100W for another). ETH only should be below 80W. I run my cards at 825-875mV (both memory and core).

GPU-Z reports core consumption only, total wattage will be more (card memory, fans), about 140w at the wall (depending on power supply efficiency).

I've been trying for a few hours and none of the undervolting options work. Overdriventool doesn't work. Wattman doesn't work. Afterburner beta 21/previous versions doesn't work. I've tried the Aug 23rd blockchain drivers and the latest 17.10.3 drivers.

Anyone *actually* got undervolting working on Windows 10?

My 580s now hash at a pathetic 21MH when it was previously hashing at 30MH. Power consumption with the old drivers is 650w vs 1000w+ on the DAG fix drivers.

Try undervolting directly in Claymore.
