1  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitstamp - wanted to withdraw money and was hit with these weird KYC questions on: January 09, 2014, 08:16:12 PM
It's even worse than that: after I answered all those questions, they asked for records relating to the purchase of those bitcoins. MtGox doesn't have records from 2011, and BitInstant isn't even operating anymore!!

I'm not sure what kind of records they'd want for in-person trades with people I haven't spoken to since.
2  Economy / Services / Re: BTCWarn.com: Get an Email or SMS when the BTC price changes quickly! Free! on: December 02, 2013, 10:10:59 PM
Looks like a great site!  Will you be spamming anything OTHER than the actual prices change?

Of course not! But if I'm lying, it's super-easy to unsubscribe! =)
3  Economy / Services / BTCWarn.com: Get an Email or SMS when the BTC price changes quickly! Free! on: August 23, 2013, 03:03:28 AM
Hey guys!
Just another BitCoin nerd here! Wanted to show off this service I made: http://btcwarn.com

I built it because I didn't feel like always watching BitCoin prices, but I wanted to know if there was anything interesting going on with them.

Basically, you just input a phone number (US only at the moment) or email address and tell it, say, "Text me immediately when the price of BitCoin moves more than 10% within 48 hours!" and it'll do that. It checks BitCoin prices once a minute so it's super-fast and can contact people more-or-less instantly when a price shift does happen.

I've been working on it for a while, and I'm pretty excited about how it's going. Would love to hear what you guys think, though! Smiley

Oh yeah, and it's free! Forever!
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mailchimp is unfriendly to bitcoin on: July 05, 2013, 07:44:22 PM
Sorry to revive an old thread, but it looks like this is still happening: https://medium.com/surveillance-state/19a5db211e47

That guy mentioned BitCoin on a mailchimp list, and got blocked.
5  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CaptchaCoin.com - Get paid bitcoins for solving captchas! on: July 01, 2013, 05:16:49 AM
Pretty interesting! I tried it for a few minutes and I have some reservations about the % success rate. I swear I got all those captchas right, but its only showing a 32% success rate. Not encouraging!
6  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Butterfly Labs refusing refunds? on: July 01, 2013, 04:52:39 AM
Didn't some people actually manage to get refunds, while others can't? I wonder what the difference is.

Someone should organize a torch-and-pitchfork meetup at their headquarters. Smiley
7  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Butterflylabs Huge SCAM on: July 01, 2013, 04:50:21 AM
Guess I'm one of the lucky ones -- I never actually bought their stuff, though I strongly considered it! The company just didn't pass the smell test imho. If you've got a product ready to go, there's no need to engage in this pre-order crap. If you've got a solid business plan to build a product, getting real investment money is easy enough.

What I didn't want is to become an investor without knowing it.
8  Other / Beginners & Help / BTCWarn.com -- Get a text message instantly, if the price of BitCoin moves! on: July 01, 2013, 04:47:11 AM
So I made this thing: http://btcwarn.com

You give it a phone number of email, and tell it "Text Me immediately if the price of bitcoin moves more than X% in Y hours" (default: 10% in 24 hours) and you'll immediately get notified of major price shifts.

It's free, and you won't have to watch the price like a hawk (if you don't want to!)
