1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Assign sgminer to specific gpu on: December 14, 2017, 09:07:21 AM
This is an even more elegant solution then using two config files. Nice! I will give it a try! My only concern is that the two GPU's are different (a RX580 and a R9 270X). The raw intensity and worksize variables might cause problems. I'm currently using 1000 and 8 as values for raw intensity and worksize for the RX580 gpu. This works fine. Since the 270x is an older card these values need to be adjusted. What kind of values would you recommend?
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Assign sgminer to specific gpu on: December 13, 2017, 10:36:29 AM
Hi all,

i've been mining with SGMiner 5.5.5 for a short time now and everything works well enough. Now i'm looking to place a second gpu into my system, but i want that gpu to mine to a different wallet (same algo). Why? Simple: one device belongs to me and the second one to someone else. Power cost offsets investing into a new platform, so power consumption is not a issue.

I have found a device "switch" wich you can add to the config file, but i'm wondering if this will work. It looks like this:

"profiles":
    [
        {
            "name": "xmr",
            "algorithm": "cryptonight",
            "rawintensity": "1000",
            "worksize": "8",
            "gpu-threads": "1"
            "devices": "0 or 1"

The last line should specify which device should be used. In the first config file I would use "0" and in a second file I would use "1". Is this the correct why to approach this or is there another way?
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Single GPU wattage (RX580) on: November 13, 2017, 12:22:47 PM
I recently started mining. I have one GPU (RX580) doing hashes and I've tweaked the mem timings (0:1750/0:2000) and raised the mem clock. Result: 800H/s. I have not modded the voltages to undervolt my GPU/Mem, since I don't know what this will do to gaming performance. This is important to me because I don't only mine on this machine.

At the moment my system draws a total of around 210 watts when mining (there are no other processes running). Is this a number to be expected or can I lower this by undervolting? I don't want to decrease my gaming performance though.

Any thoughts anyone?

Hello, using xmr-stak-amd-notls with Radeon 7950 and it periodically stops to mine and freezes.
My GPU is NOT overclocked.
Is there possibility to fix that?

I haven't got any experience with the notls version. Have you tried the tls version? You might want to post your config settings. Maybe some sees something in there that might help. One of the problems I had was the "platform_index" setting. With AMD cards this has to be set to "1".

I have modded my gpu bios, adjusted the mem clock and now i'm running just a hair under 800H/s. Sadly I don't see any option in the Gigabyte Aorus software to adjust the voltages to decrease wattage. Currently the gpu is drawing about 100 watts. I also played around with the intensity and worksize setting but all resulted in lower hash rates. All in all these results aren't that bad I think.

Hi,

i'm using xmr-stak-amd to mine electroneum with my gpu. Everything is running smoothly and now i'm looking for ways to tweak my performance. One is of course modding the bios of my gpu card. But i'd also like to look at de config file. Most of it is pretty straightforward, but i'm looking for more information on two variables: intensity and worksize. This is what the config file says:

*  intensity    - Number of parallel GPU threads (nothing to do with CPU threads)
*  worksize    - Number of local GPU threads (nothing to do with CPU threads)

How do I interpret these variables? How do they relate to each other and the hardware specs of my gpu (RX580)? I currently run these on default values (1000 and Cool.

Thanks!
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Simple rig challenge (Single GPU) on: November 07, 2017, 02:49:31 PM
Hi all,

for most people an elaborate mining rig is too expensive. In addition most people don't have a comprehensive grasp on this subject/how to tweak the hell out of your hardware...So why not build an every man's rig, just like Ford did with cars?  Grin

Thats why I have the following challenge: what components would you use to build a single gpu mining rig for 24/7 operation? The following groundrules apply:

- Keep build cost to a minimum (how cheap can you build?  Grin)
- Keep operational cost to a minimum (how much would your rig cost annually in terms of electricity?)
- Minimum probable hash rate of 500H/s (to keep mining interesting  Wink)
- No flashing of GPU card (factory OC's are allowed)
- You can use any and all components currently available on the market

I hope to see some very creative builds. Share your build according to the following guidelines:

1. Specify hardware (motherboard, cpu, ram, hd, power supply and gpu)
2. Specify OS (any and all are allowed)
3. Specify mining software/coins you would mine
4. Specify probable hash rate/yield

I wonder what kind of creative/exotic builds people can come up with?
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Hash Rate RX580 (single card) on: November 05, 2017, 05:36:43 PM
Hi all,

I just got into mining cryptocurrency for educational purposes. I'm using my personal rig to do some mining. Currently i'm using xmr-stak-amd for gpu based mining. My system is as followed:

- i5 4790K @ 4.3Ghz
- 16Gb Ram
- Gigabyte Aorus RX 580 XTR (8Gb), running @ 1.425Ghz (gpu clock) / 2Ghz (mem clock)

I've seen a lot of rigs using multiple graphics cards but what kind of hash rates should I expect on my single card rig? Currently i'm getting around 625H/s. Is that within range? I don't intend to flash/adapt my card as i'm just trying to get a "feel" on how mining works and what kind of results to expect with an average system.

In the mining software i've left everything on default: intensity 1000, worksize 8.

Any kind of help is appreciated!
