Really appreciate your project. Good innovation product for this year. Hope, you will start great.
Good job!
I have bind my wallet right now. Smiley

I wanted to whole hardheartedly support this coin, but a lack of posts from the dev, the utterly crazy diff, and the lack of pool software has killed this coin before it got started.

GL with it, but I doubt it will go anywhere now

Yeah, I'm about to give up too. It's just MaxCoin v2.o -- Why release something when you've yet to have it all prepared. People much rather wait an additional week to have the coin prepared, fair, and the devs not as busy.

Just read all the post about a virus.

Consensus now miner is not a virus? We've moved on from that topic?

No, it's not a virus. It's a typical false positive that follows wallets. Most people were just blowing it up to scare away the competition. Not that it's any easier for the most of us lot considering most people are using huge server farms and botnets.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RIC] Riecoin, new prime numbers POW coin, launches Feb 11, 2014 on: February 12, 2014, 02:53:58 AM
You're all idiots, the detached miner is clearly a botnet.

Proof --->> You can change the threads to anything from 1 to infinity and it will still report the same amount of knumbers/s per thread! It's just showing you bigger numbers than the built in miner so you think its better!

On what piece of crap did u generate that "proof" ? It's not true for my i7.

And how come I just found a block with that miner?
Perhaps there are multiple versions going around, care to share the link to yours?

http://sourceforge.net/projects/riecoin/files/cpuminer%20rminerd%203.0.0/rminerd_win64.zip/download
Using this exact miner:
32 threads
(images removed)
Can anyone explain this?

Don't worry dude, I've been running about 3/4s what you are running for hours and haven't even received so much as an orphan. Granted, the fun has yet to start since we are getting through the really high difficulty starting phase. Once we hit blocks 1k+ we should start seeing something, hopefully. My fear is there are a few botnets hogging up all the fun.

In Regards to the Cloud mining:

I'm having some troubles getting it through, but before I ask any questions, I'll clear some things up for other fellow linux babies. OP's post isn't entirely cut and paste, so here are some things I learned.

First off, to create the new user, you don't copy and paste: adduser USERNAMEYOUCHOSE sudo

Instead you first must run "Sudo adduser <whatever user name>"

Then follow it up with: sudo adduser USERNAMEYOUCHOSE sudo

Now, where I am stuck.

When I get to the complile/install section it calls for running: make -f makefile.unix
For some reason I get an error stating: bash: make: command not found

Any suggestions to get past this step?

miner@Miner1:~/riecoin/src/riecoin/src$ make -f makefile.unix
bash: make: command not found

Sorry for the confusion!!

Maybe you missed this line?
Code:
sudo apt-get install -y git make g++ build-essential libminiupnpc-dev

Hey man, thanks for the response. Seems like it got me a step further, but now after I run the make command, it biulds for a while then abrubtly ends on:

g++: internal compiler error: Killed (program cc1plus)
Please submit a full bug report,
with preprocessed source if appropriate.
See <file:///usr/share/doc/gcc-4.7/README.Bugs> for instructions.
make: *** [obj/main.o] Error 4

Effectively ending the whole process. I really hope this doesn't end up like another MaxCoin where all the Unix users who understand the technical complexity straight from the terminal aren't the only ones getting all the coins. I'll just sit tight and wait for a Windows build and run it off my 8 core i7

Soon as BTC hit Reddit, all this shit happened. It may have hit Reddit TO GAME it. The increase in popularity, since it hit Reddit, is crazy. I am attributing this entirely to that as well. Fucking 8 to 18. God damnit I should have invested.
9  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Why BTC hasn't and wont hit the mainstream: on: May 27, 2011, 10:04:19 AM
The whole system is nerd freindly only.

Seriously, if we want to go mainstream, there has to be some sort of user friendly program that can manage everything in a way our grandmother can understand it. Until then, BTC will be used for money laundering and illegal transactions until then.

My paraphrased thoughts.
10  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has bitcoin spurred your interest in technology/economics? on: May 27, 2011, 12:10:30 AM
I'm actually kind of bummed. When I first got into BTC over a year or two ago, I had well over 100 coins. It was at a time when the coins had a value of a fraction of a cent. Since then things have really taken off, and you can buy more than just books with bitcoins, but they have actual value (primarily for people trying to money launder, but that's a whole other story).

But now, it is extremely hard to mine, and the pools just don't come close to paying out like they used to. I feel like just two weeks ago was the last time BTC was actually profitable, and it is just compounding to be more and more difficult to get the sweet sweet sticky coin. Sigh, how I only wish I didn't procrastinate on getting back on this train and I could have actually made a decent profit and got tons of 5830s to boot.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Just got back into Bitcoin mining - I'm not receiving pool payments on: May 27, 2011, 12:05:25 AM
Essentially I decided to get back in recently since the price of a coin is no longer fractions of a cent when I used to mine (My 150 coin wallet no longer exists. Stupid me.)

So I am all set up with BTCmine pool and so far got a total of .22 payout, but have yet to actually recieve it. I put in my address properly, double/triple checked that it was okay, but when I fire up Bitcoin it still says I have 0.00 wallet and no received payments. Is this normal? Maybe I am not being patient enough?
12  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Is mining even worth it now? on: May 26, 2011, 06:28:43 PM
Yeah, I'm only getting a combined 200Mhs, which apparently isn't much these days. I remember a year ago, I was getting several a night. It's crazy how things have compounded so greatly. Shit, if I came back a month ago, like I planned I would be making so much more. Literally right now is the peak in my opinion.
13  Bitcoin / Mining / Is mining even worth it now? on: May 26, 2011, 06:15:30 PM
I just made .2 BTC in the past 16 hours running off my two 4850s. WTH? Granted I havent actually mined for a good year now, but is it really this bad now? I can't imagine 1 BTC every 2 days being worth it after all the electricity being used.
14  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: 2x5830 or 5850 on: May 26, 2011, 05:37:11 AM
I have a question. How long do you think it would take before those cards pay off?
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A quick question regarding wallets on: May 26, 2011, 05:33:57 AM
Hey, I also use spider oak but never figured out how to get it to back up my wallet automatically. Since my wallet is in AppData it simply just wont let me add any files from there.
16  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Having difficulty setting up a pool miner. Any advance is great! on: May 26, 2011, 05:24:50 AM
No no. I want to use one on the list lol. If you are familiar with BTCmine you make an account for yourself, then you create miner accounts. So for example I have 3 accounts for my two GPU's and CPU. The problem is, I can't log in visa-vi the GUI because it asks for UN/PW but never gives the ability to select which miner you want to use nor will my standard account UN and PW log in. because apparently they are wrong.

I guess I am stuck with command line ones, but reallly want a GUI set up for the ease of throwing it up when I am not gaming and how it saves everything.
17  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Having difficulty setting up a pool miner. Any advance is great! on: May 26, 2011, 05:13:01 AM
Hey, thanks for the response! Here is some context:
http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/9831/guiminrprobles.png

I can get a command line based one working just not the GUI working because I can't do exactly what you said earlier, there is no place for me to put in the required information. No where. This is all I get... Maybe something in the flags?
18  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Having difficulty setting up a pool miner. Any advance is great! on: May 26, 2011, 04:37:31 AM
Hey, thanks for the help. Getting closer in the right direction. SO I did this:
server=1
rpcuser=duffmanhb
rpcpassword=XXXXX
rpcallowip=*
rpcport=8332

In a Bitcoin.conf file I had to create. *Sigh*

What on earth am I doing wrong? Also, in the GUIminer, when it asks for UN and PW, they are referring to, not the account UN and PW but the accounts miner UN and PW. Correct?

Thanks again, these forums are great and every one is so helpful.

P.S. kjj: This is what my problem is, I'm trying to join a pool, BTCmine and get mining in the pool. The problem is I cant get it configured properly because all the information on the internet is very vague and unspecific in these regards.
19  Bitcoin / Mining / Having difficulty setting up a pool miner. Any advance is great! on: May 26, 2011, 04:15:34 AM
 I am actually trying to get my mining going for the BTCmine using the GUIminer but, like everything related to BTC, there isn't really any guides on getting set up. For example: GUI asks for my Username and Pass for BTCmine but it always says wrong UN/PW. It also has no fields to specify which miner to use and it's pass. Ive tried every combo and just cant get it. Does this make any sense?

Any way some one could point me to an area that could help?
