1  Economy / Auctions / Re: 5 Block Erupter USB Starting Bid 1.75 BTC! per miner Ends 6/29/13 11AM CST on: June 25, 2013, 06:20:42 PM
Seeing as how AsicMiner dropped the price of USB miners after my auction started and bids were received, I would be willing to end the auction if no current bidders object. This would save the winning bidder many bitcoin (at my expense). I would be willing to lower the winning bid of 5 @ 1.90 by Bigdaddyaz to 5 @ 1.25 if he still wants them. Just can't in good faith hold the high bidder so far to a bid of 5 @ 1.90 . If you placed a bid in this auction, please let me know your thoughts. Thanks.

Are you resetting the auction to an opening price of 1.25 each with an opening bid by Bigdaddyaz if he desires it, or is the auction now closed with Bigdaddyaz being permitted to complete the auction with the reset price?
2  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin → Paypal - [Buying Bitcoins] - [www.BTC2PayPal.com] on: June 23, 2013, 10:01:08 PM
Starting a business to exchange Bitcoin with PayPal by only accepting irreversible transactions and only offering reversible ones does seem very suspect. It is always better to have multiple options for using your Bitcoins, which can only make the Bitcoin ecosystem stronger, and I hope that this is legitimate.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What is dumping all about? on: June 17, 2013, 05:03:12 AM
The value (or price) of a currency is very similar to other things in markets. If the demand for an item (in this case, Bitcoin) exceeds the supply, the price of it will rise. Alternatively, if the supply exceeds demand, the price drops. The term dumping is used to describe a situation where 1 or more parties who hold a large quantity of the item place it on the market, greatly increasing the supply and driving the price downward. The only way for the price to rise again is for there to be an increase in the demand.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Will bitcoin remain number 1? on: June 17, 2013, 04:43:20 AM
Bitcoin will most likely remain the most prevalent coin globally especially due to its existing acceptance. Most other coins were created to solve a specific perceived problem (or problems) with the properties of Bitcoin. It is quite possible, on the other hand, that other coins will become more prevalent in certain markets where the specific properties they provide are more valuable.
5  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Linux Ubuntu the most secure OS to store you BTC on? on: June 16, 2013, 07:32:31 PM
Its more secure than windows but you also have the ability to really screw things up if you start tweaking, which is a major temptation for some.
This is incredibly true. Security is far more about your choices than your tools. You can use the most secure tool in the world, but use it wrong and it will be useless (e.g. using the password "123"). There are several techniques I have seen talked about here and on other sites. I would recommend you look at this thread and at the Armory Wallet for offline wallets.
