1  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [130PH] ckpool.org ZERO FEE SPLNS no registration mining pool US/DE/CN on: June 13, 2018, 01:44:58 PM
Hi! Trying this pool out, looks cool.   Watching the pool stats, block height just went up a couple times in the last few minutes.  Did pool find two blocks that fast?!?  Seems like I'm misreading it, I figured a 60T pool would take a long time to find a block.  Maybe got super lucky?
Block height goes up if we find a block or not (it's the height of the current network block). Yes a 60TH pool would take "forever" to find a block (which is why we mine in pools and not a solo pool of 60TH).

That being said, we did find another bock and it's 13+ again!  Cool

Wow, that was quick... Indeed we did.

Hello everyone, it's about an hour or so that I'm on this pool .. I have 1x gekkoscience 2pac

At the beginning I started with difficulty 4000 (4K) then the pool brought me "Diff 40" and finally "Diff 20" .. what difficulties can I enter for my hardware Huh?

thanks to all, greetings ultimate64

All of that is outlined in the official support thread-

I have approx 1PH. Would it be easy to configure my Avalon’s to point to this pool? I e tried to read through as much as possible, but it seems different than other pools I’ve used. (slush and NiceHash)

You won't have a problem getting on the payout list quickly and in the long run should do well with 1PH.
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Terminus R808 Miner Official Support Thread on: March 06, 2018, 01:14:42 PM
You do know that the build instructions are done entirely by typing everything (or copy-pasting) into a terminal, exactly as it's presented, right? Put in one line, hit "Enter", wait for it to do its thing and get you back to the shell prompt, and then punch in the next line. Should take minutes. Except for the "apt-get install" all the dependencies line, I've pretty much got the whole thing memorized by now.

Uhmmm. Maybe? I think I followed the directions up above by copy/pasting each command serially as you say. When I was done there was just a new command prompt, no cgminer. Does that mean I built it? How do I know if I did it correctly?

I had to open the git file it linked to and find the cgminer executable file, which I can bring up but it won't recognize the miners and I have to copy/paste everything into it to get it started (pool address, my Bitcoin address, etc.  The same stuff I use a Windows .bat file to do).

If you followed the instructions, cgminer should be living in the git/vthoang directory within your home directory. When you open up a new terminal, type " cd git/vthoang" and then to start cgminer type the run syntax "./cgminer -o (POOL INFO) -u (USERNAME) -p (PASSWORD)". Worse case if it doesn't want to work properly, recompile everything and try again. All the instructions worked like a charm for me running a few 2pacs for fun on a Pi and I literally knew nothing about Linux at the time so there is no reason it shouldn't work.

I'm sure there is a way to make it all run automatically along the lines of a .bat file but since you should not have to be starting/stopping the program all the time I never bothered to figure it out.
7  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience is now dabbling with 16nm ASICs for new designs on: February 16, 2018, 02:24:13 PM
FWIW I picked up an S3+ miner on Amazon for about $250. Even though the power/hash rate isn't that good ~.7watts/Ghs it runs well and very quiet relative to the newer miners.

Waiting for the upgrade boards too. :-)
That's a horrible price to pay for an S3. They used to sell for $70 or less on pretty much every site, and even now you can get a better deal for them on eBay. First search I looked for on eBay was a $180-190 S3 with shipping factored in. Not a great price but still lower than your $250.

It's still a quiet miner though, enjoy!

On that note, miner prices have come back down to Earth recently overall though there are still some holdouts on ebay who think $3k is a reasonable asking price for something like an Avalon 741... I sure hope people out there are not falling for it much but who knows.

It's certainly not a bad time to upgrade for all of us who buy second-hand miners and have the $$$ to do so.

I love the new page:

Thanks morktadela!

I agree. Never hurts to see how you stack up against everyone else. You never know, maybe it will lead to people upgrading their equipment to move up the list.

Would a reply be given to the email or it is just to get an estimate on the demand ?

I got an email back...

I would advise folks who are interested to email Laura (at gekkoscience dot com) so we can get a bead on market demand. Only gonna have so many of these at the start and I want to know how to divide them up.

Do you literally mean laura@gekkoscience.com? Website only mentions novak & kitten@gekkoscience.com in the "Contact Info". Forgive me, but 12+ years of memorizing military regulations makes me over-think things at times...

I look forward to putting in an order.

Ok, so officially this former "sheep" has left slushpool and is now 100% behind ckpool for the long run. It's a nice feeling to finally make the switch.
Welcome aboard!

I have been on the fence for a while but recent conversations on here have swayed me. It just feels like the right thing to do from multiple standpoints. Now I just need to continue upgrading my miners once prices are a bit more reasonable on ebay/other places.

@sabre_labs
Welcome aboard.

I can't speak for anyone else, but I can assure you that I'm not going anywhere. I'm emotionally invested in seeing this pool succeed.

Great to hear that. Looking forward to hitting the next block with you guys. If the current rate persists hopefully we can do a monthly block party. Just curious what was the pool hashrate when we hit the last 3 blocks? Just trying to do some forward projections based on past and current difficulty.

Maybe half of what it is now... I know when I starting pointing some of sidehack's 2pacs here it was sitting at only 500-600T and would jump to 1-2P every now and then. That was only a few months ago, seems like a lot has happened since then. My hope is a block every few weeks now that things seem to be rolling.

I'm moving all my Antminer's here within the next few days after the next payment from slushpool and staying for multiple reasons. Hopefully more will continue to follow.

I remember having the same issue with my pi setting up my second's 2pacs.  It was very frustrating.  The slub debug fix in the command line fixed the issue, The thing was the file would delete itself if I ever changed the input from hdmi/LCD. Hopefully, this info will help.

Had the same issue with my 2pacs and a Pi and the slub debug fix solved the problem. Running 24/7 no issues since then. That could be part of the solution but with computers, who knows...
16  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: January 20, 2018, 02:15:54 AM
So I just purchased my first 2Pac miner, plugged it in and...nothing.  The LED on the back of the miner is green and the OS recognizes the device but it will not work with cgminer or BGMiner.

The 1st thing I tried was purchasing a couple of powered hubs, both with output over 2.1a per port, and then I bought a HighRock cable.  Still nothing!  :-(

When running cgminer->USB management->L
Bus 1 Device 10 ID: 10c4:ea60 GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Bitcoin Miner inactive.

Some specifics:
OS: Linux Mint 18.3 Cinnamon(3.6.7) 64 bit(fresh install)
CGMiner: v 4.10.8(fresh compile)
cmd line: ./cgminer -o {stuff} -u {myuserid} -p {gibberish} --gekko-2pac-freq 150

Any suggestions on things that I should try?

Thanks in advance!

You followed the instructions contained on the first post, right?
17  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Who likes pod miners? on: January 16, 2018, 02:12:20 AM
Forgive me if this was already stated, but will these be standalone units or will they need a controller like a Raspberry Pi? Doesn't change my opinion just don't remember specifically reading it.

Thanks

I'll take at least one maybe two at whatever you feel is reasonable. I'm always willing to support an independent developer.
19  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: January 03, 2018, 06:56:51 PM
I have an AnkerUSB 3.0 SuperSpeed 10-Port Hub  - so far unable to get it working with the RSPI 3 - wondering if anyone has used this hub?

Thanks

Is the hub not working with the RSPI3, or do you mean a 2Pac miner in the hub doesn't work with the RSPI3?

Looks like the number 10 port on your hub allows the most power. Have you tried that one? Have you tried plugging one 2Pac directly into the RSPI3? If so, does that work?

I thought I remember reading somewhere on here that you don't want to use Anker hubs with a Pi/2pac setup... Might want to dig a bit on that.
20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience 2Pac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: December 31, 2017, 06:16:27 PM
Hi, folks
Yes I am a newbie mining excited with a GPU in my beaten up Pavilion.  It's been so fun to hear coin dropping sound whenever my lazy digging accepted as "prof of works".  So here I am joined the forum for mother of layman's asic revolution; Gekkoscience from Sidehack, Great works!

I got all the plan laid out to seriously mud myself and the first challenge is to get Gekko 2PACs to start and here is what I took from reading the board:

"2Pac sticks are $30 apiece for any quantity. For the sake of simplicity, I'll charge a flat $10 on shipping for all US orders. If you're interested in purchasing, PM me here or email sales@gekkoscience.com with quantity, shipping address and desired payment method."

This was posted 2016 and I wonder if it is still correct.
If it is not, can anyone guide me to submit order of small quantity US shipping?

I didn't want to bother Sidehack directly for he must be one of the busiest person on earth these days.
Thanks to all in advance.

Maybe if you PM sidehack and get on the list for "seconds" sticks, but as of right now I am not aware of any place to get them for anywhere near the original price. There is a link to the thread where he talks about the seconds in his sig block if I remember correctly.
