I know for certain Bitcoin has not gained 57 million users around this time period, so it is not that they are migrating to Bitcoin, I feel as if they are fed up of Paypal's greedy system.
Oh by the way, there is no way to figure out how many Bitcoin users there are, but you can look at trends in price value (graphs) to get a rough estimate

I'm planning to run 30 usb miners with the PiMiner, could I hook up 3 of these 10 port USB hubs (RPi non-compatible) to say 1 D-link hub that is compatible for the RPi? Will this work? Unforch, not likely. USB 1.1 devices, like the Erupters, don't work through USB3 hubs on the Pi. sucks. I wanted to use one as well. So my best bet would to use link multiple USB 2.0 hubs but I'm hardly seeing compatible 10-port on that list with enough amps to use all 10-ports. Correct me if I'm wrong but each USB miner uses .5a, right? |

It may be a 'Pi' specific thing. I am thinking it is more of a Rasperian thing, under Arch in MinePeon they run fine, I downloaded Rasperian last night and everything went wonkey like you guys are experiencing. Neil @Neil , Do you have jaycar in NZ , http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=XC4946 I hope this hub works on the pi 5Volt/3A USB2.0  (wrong Quote sorry) According to the specs, this hub will handle up to 3A, so at most it'll be able to run just 6 ports with these USB miners. Correct? 0.5a per miner? |

The kids arrived today:  Thanks BTCGuild and ASICMINER! What brand of USB hub is that and the fan? BTW is the fan quiet? I'm building the Adafruit PiMiner and looking for compatible USB hubs and a quiet fan for my setup. |

Has anyone have a list of USB hub that's compatible with the RPi.
The ones on the first post are all NOT compatible...looking for at least 10 ports, currently building a Raspberry Pi Miner from Adafruit.

Hopefully I can place order for ASICMINER USB MINERS by the end of this week. This is ultimately up to ASICMINER/friedcat having inventory back in stock. Once friedcat allows orders to be placed, I will be ready with this group buy to get the ball rolling  Thanks for the reply...I'll be selling some stocks and get some BTC. BTW what colors are these miners? |

Thanks for the replies guys, looking into BTCQuick & Coinbase...but giving my login for my bank account is a no-go for me.
Hopefully I can get some BC before the GB ends!
BTW what is the average fee % for these exchanges...BTCQuick is 4% from a BA and 7.5% from a CC.
And is it common to pay a "membership" fee to use their service?
Coinbase is probably the best, but not the quickest. They charge a small (1% I think) fee plus a small bank fee. Just checked, for 1 BTC ($90.23) they charge $.90 Coinbase fee & $.15 Bank fee. That's it. But, once you're verified, it'll take a week to arrive. Cashing it out is about 2x as fast, however. Thanks man, Coinbase does has the lowest fees but not as fast...I guess I'll have to wait until the next GB. |

Read post #1 & #2...Not sure if I'm reading it right but seems like you're getting a designer to create a board for these BFL chips?
So GB is for chips but there's a potential of a working board for these chips.
And you suggest 8-16 chips because that's what the board will req.?
Yes, there are hardware guys working on BFL boards. not all are doing it because of me, I'm not so special! LOL, there are lots of independent folks who are working on them. 8-16 suggestion is based on what BFL has produced with their own boards... but I'm guessing PCBs that accept 1 chip may be produced as well. Do we know how much the boards will cost? |
