which exchange is next

coinbase, bittrex?

who are the thieves

The folks over at Coinbase can already be considered as thieves. The amount of apparently 'lost' wire transfers to coinbase that I've seen on reddit this year already and last year as well is disturbing. Some are still pending since october/november-ish and still nothing to this day. No support from coinbase whatsoever. How are these guys still in business after everything that has happened?

also under investigation for cryptsy hack and their own investigation to recent insider trading

Cant afford a decent support team despite over $1b in revenue last year.

Just turn off “Listen for Hey Siri”

That just stops Siri from loading up, doesn't stop listening though

After all, I find it really strange that all I need to do is have a conversation in the same room as my Iphone and all of a sudden, the google adds match what I was discussing. Apple denies this, but it seems to have happened to me way too often to be a coincidence.

Are you serious? Holy crap. I know those in-home smart devices like Amazon Echo and Google Home are for sure doing it. Which is why I will never own such a device. Just never heard of an instance where phone is capturing voice like that off-calls. Wouldn't surprise me though. A scary invasion of privacy and personal security.

Yes, I have had a conversation with my partner about a local restaurant we enjoy. No google search on any device. No recent posts on social media about the restaurant. Suddenly, up pops the ad on Facebook for this restaurant. (Not a national franchise.) May be a feature of the Facebook app though. But if a Facebook app can do it, not sure what would prevent any other app from doing it as well. Or even the firmware of your Iphone.

You're Iphone is always listening, that's how Siri hears the keyword. Apps don't need to be running to listen due to background services and its constantly connected to the web.

OMG. Apparently every time you move a BTC off Coinbase to your wallet, that counts as a sell event.

God Fucking Damnit !

right?

these dinosaur nation states are so far behind the technology it really is laughable, just keep it in crypto and wait them out, this empire is near it's sell by date

How can this be classed as a sell event?

Surely you don't actually own the bitcoin until you transfer them to your own wallet in which you hold the private keys or its just like moving from a bank account to a savings account

That eventually brought me to this forum which Ive been reading in the little spare time I have which prompted me to take some of the extra money now in my wallet and experiment a little trading some Alt Coins.

Then came the ups and downs of this weekend, which with the help of this forum has been like an accelerated learning course.

That is a path to success. read and learn. What is most important is to store your coins securely.  $1000 is not something huge, but as I see your approach I can predict it will grow fast. Sooner or latter you should buy yourself a Hardware wallet.

I know its not a life changing amount but its enough to encourage me to delve a bit deeper and learn more about Bitcoin and cryptocurrency overall.
The way I see it is a small gain is much better than a huge loss.

Thanks for the advice on a hardwallet, I will look into this. I know that wallet security is the most important part of crypto and I keep my funds in a desktop wallet and have a paperwallet in a locked safe place and have some alt available to further test the trading exchanges.

Hi All

I invested a very small amount (£100) into Bitcoin about month ago after hearing a conversation about it on a building site. I read up a little and decided to make my initial deposit and continued to watch videos and read as much as I could.

That eventually brought me to this forum which Ive been reading in the little spare time I have which prompted me to take some of the extra money now in my wallet and experiment a little trading some Alt Coins.

Then came the ups and downs of this weekend, which with the help of this forum has been like an accelerated learning course.

Together with staying out of the mainstream press and reading insightful and knowledgeable posts here I have managed to turn that money on the exchange into a decent profit.

I now have healthy wallet (over £1000 bitcoin) and also have some funds saved up in Monero, Dash, Ethereum and Litecoin.

Id like to thank everybody in here, without finding this forum I'm 100% sure I would have panicked during the weekend and ended up staring at an empty wallet today.

Its been an eventful weekend that's for sure.

Thank you again
