Ok!  Thank's everybody, it really helped a ton.
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Question about Confirmations on: August 13, 2014, 02:56:28 AM
ah ok.. that clears it up a little...

what about proof of stake coins?
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Question about Confirmations on: August 13, 2014, 02:29:18 AM
I heard that miners confirm transactions.  If so, how does a proof-of-stake coin confirm if there are no miners?  Also, when a coin will hit it's hard cap (21 MIL for BTC), if everyone stopped mining at that time, will the coin die?

Thanks,
Flip

Good luck man.  Sucks that people scam, it's holding us (as a community) back.

Thanks for this, I see a lot of hard work has gone into it.

How much do you make daily?

It gets done pretty quickly.

Time is money, but you don't have to sit there and wait for it to come, do something else while you wait.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ASAP: super fast, super anonymous ASAPcoin. Launched! on: July 30, 2014, 06:34:36 PM
It looks interesting but a little unprofessional, kinda like a small project and not a "real" coin.  I'll keep tabs on it, looking forward to seeing what happens in the future.

Well, we do have moderators that are reviewing the articles.  Since we run media wiki, we can see the revision history, and we will ip ban anyone who spreads misinformation/libel.  Thank you for the constructive criticism, though.

Do you remember when you were first introduced to AltCoins.  They probably seemed quite confusing or complicated, at least until you learned about them.  Most people on this forum are very skilled with tech, and understand the concepts of Bitcoin and other CryptoCurrencies, but what about the millions of people who have heard of BitCoin, but cannot comprehend it.  Recently we have celebrated both Thanks Giving and the winter holidays.  This is a time where you get together with your family and have a good time... until the BitCoin questions are asked.

You've probably heard of this before.  Questions like "What are these BitCoin things?", "Is BitCoin used to buy drugs?", or even "I know you like these BitCoins. What are they?  Can you explain it all to me?".  If you have experienced this before, then you know how annoying it can be.  It is Good to stimulate BitCoin interest, and there wasn't a clear resource detailing all aspects of Cryptocurrencies.

Until Now.  The AltCoin Wiki is a Wiki dedicated to providing information to BitCoin beginners and enthusiasts alike.  Like most wikis, TheAltCoinWiki.com is free for anyone to edit, but we do have guidelines.  The guidelines are simple: Do not provide false information, do not be biased.  If you have criticism of a coin/service/etc. you may put it there, under a "criticism" section.

How to use WikiText?
You can get help at the official mediawiki wiki: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Formatting.  View our main wikipage for more information.

Ok.  Does anyone in the community know if this is temporary or not?  I had some YAC in my cryptsy that I was trading right when this happened.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Did Cryptsy Remove YAC? on: December 29, 2013, 12:43:53 AM
Bump?  Still not there...
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Did Cryptsy Remove YAC? on: December 28, 2013, 11:52:07 PM
I'm on cryptsy right now, and there is no YAC.  Does anyone else have this problem?
16  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Relatives' "criticism" about BTC, and other AltCoins. on: December 28, 2013, 03:12:55 AM
Sorry, when I mean making one for a niche, I meant creating one.

And yes Bono, I guess Some people were not meant to BTC
17  Other / Beginners & Help / My Relatives' "criticism" about BTC, and other AltCoins. on: December 28, 2013, 02:37:39 AM
Hey All,

Please note that these are not my criticism, they are my Relatives' and I need better answers than my own.  Well... roll the questions  Tongue!

1.  Mining AltCoins?  Isn't that illegal, like printing counterfeit money?
Please help with this one.  My explanation was that mining is just like mining in real life, and BitCoin is just virtual gold.  This brings us to the next question.

2. Bitcoin (and altcoins) are just code?  What value do they have?
Ofc I have said paper is just paper, and besides it's use in tech, gold really has no value either, it's just shiny, so there really is no difference.

The next one happened when I was talking about new AltCoins, and I was talking about making ones for a niche...
3. OMG!  Your trying to counterfeit money!
I explained that a cryptocurrency has no value except what people are willing to pay for it, like a stock.  Still they do not understand.

I just want a clear rebuttal to these points.  Thank You.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but will it work with Scrypt-Jane, such as YaCoin?
Thanks,

From what little I know dogecoin is just a joke coin, based on a meme.  It does hold some value though...
