Maybe its worth updating the title page of this thread? To show the new roadmap, website etc?

We think it is very promosing project, with great and usefull for community goals. So we decide to revive token and offer new roadmap + whitepaper. WHITEPAPER OF JSCHAIN JavaScript Token is a token that was launched with the purpose of forming a community of JavaScript programmers, with a platform where they can sell the codes in exchange for the token. Actuality for today JAVASCRIPTCHAIN (JSChain) is: - Developing not only JSChain blockchain itself from the start, but the whole new blockchain platform for programmers on JavaScript — including smart-contracts, virtual machine, mining in browser and implementing javascriptchain tokens in advertisments and other virtual values on web applications market that are using JavaScript, which is now the most popular programming language and this gives the largest sales market in history
- Smart-contracts on JavaScript
- SHA 512 cryptography, which means the most powerfull security, never used in blockchain before
- Mining algorithm — new JSChain miner for browsers includes:
- Easy integration
- Best commission on market
- Automatic payouts
- Flexible tuning of mining power(CPU load)
- Mining on smartphones and tablets(in browser or in native applications on Electron or React Native)
- Turning on/off from control panel
- Escape from blocking
- PoW/PoS/PoT mining
- Monetizing users on web-site or plugin by javascripttoken for getting JSChain coin
- In perspective, developing browsers on the basis of JSChain, because executing JavaScript in JSChain makes it decentralized JavaScript engine
JavaScript Token audience - Miners. It doesn't really matter for them which coin or token to mine, what matters is the rate of return
- Investors who need safe tool with high market liquidity and volatility
Current blockchain problems If Bitcoin was completely anonimous, miners were decentralized and weren“t be united in pools, transactions count in seconds was rising in proportion to blockchain load, there would be no problems. The system that would be the most close to this ideal (preferably with guaranteed proof of security and real decentralization of power) has the biggest chance of success. And JSChain is our proposition for solving those problems! More advantages of JSChain: - Atomic transactions between blockchains like ALTCOIN EXCHANGE
- Access for Bitcoin and Ethereum smart-contracts
- Sharding like it is in Ethereum( Liquidity Network, Casper, Raiden, Zk-SNARK and Zk-STARK, Plasma), scalable autonomic smart-contracts and system of many layers like it is in CARDANO blockchain of third generation
- End of Q4 2017:Web site
- Q1 2018:JavaScript Chain testnet and development
- Q2 2018:Decentralized Blockchain and mining in browser
- Q3 2018:Implementing the best practices: raiden and casper from ethereum, multiclet and mining solution web app & mobile app
- Q4 2018:Sharding, beta release of the merchant API, web app & mobile app
- Q1 2019:Virtual machine
- Q2 2019:Smart-contracts on JavaScript Chain
- Q3-Q4 2019:Scaling performance and global integration
This is an awesome idea. Well done guys New website's lookin good

Happy Christmas guys & gals. A thought for 8bit community going into 2018: John McAfee recently tweeted about the value of privacy coins https://twitter.com/officialmcafee/status/941003398215761922tl;dr - they have the greatest future/potential. Bodes well for 8bit with the upcoming implementation of PIVX codebase including private send and zerocoin protocol Bring on 2018 for 8bit...

sup guys ??
i have two instances of the 8bit wallet running one for staking and one masternode (different data dirs).
i decided to make a second masternode but when i try to start the third instance i get the following error "Unable to bind 0.0.0.0:18888 on this computer. 8bit is probably already running. Failed to linsten on any port. use -listen=0 if you want this."
If i put -listen=0 the third instance is running without problems. However i dunno what this command (-listen) does and for the masternode you have to have it at 1.
Any suggestions? There are people running 5 - 10 mns at one machine. How you managed to do it after the second (wallet) instance ??
THANKS IN ADVANCE !!
hey Pon13, are you using a different port number for each masternode instance? You can edit the port number for each masternode in the 8bit.conf file. The following line: masternodeaddr=0.0.0.0:9999 << this port number needs to be different for each MN *also in the .conf file for each masternode you can use the line: port=9999 << different for each MN

I tried to build masternode, took sources from here: https://github.com/8bit-dev/8bitBut in order to get it running I had to actually edit sources and call dead code that is responsible for reading masternode.conf. Is it supposed to be like that, or I am missing something? Hello Yes there are some unusual parts to current codebase, there is currently a major 8bit upgrade under development and soon to be launched. New wallets, new features etc. If you've got any suggestions or pull requests in the meantime though, I'm sure the community would be happy with the input.

Yeah, also we can always introduce feature flags for smelly stuff like zerocoin implementation and enable them once they mature. Win-win
Nice, this makes sense. Sounds like a good approach
|
|
|
Ok, sure. Which version of PIVX are you looking for?
v3.0 and higher they have been experiencing a lot of problems. After the implementation of zerocoin protocol.
v2.3.1 and earlier were a lot more stable
Bah, recently I jumped into v3 and I more and more convinced we should proceed with the newer version. v2 is abandoned and no longer maintained (last commit almost 3 months ago). Anyone against? This sounds good. v3 running a lot better now with constant upgrades. Also having 8bit with zerocoin features would be very cool

would there hypothetically be a way to run multiple mns over tor in such a manner as each node is assigned a different ip, even though on same system?
Possibly by using different control ports for tor (one for each MN). Would need to test this out though

Most important thing from my perspective is that more people should stake & run masternodes, this will improve the distribution and network security. Having whales on board is good from price perspective, but with insecure network this price will quickly fall.
Question about this: Suppose someone runs a few mns and 1 staking wallet. Is the network more secure as the amount of 8bit increases in that staking wallet, or is it simply based on whether a staking wallet is running/not? ie is a staking wallet with 10 8bit in it as healthy for the network as a staking wallet with 10K 8bit, or is volume significant in this regard? A key factor for security in staking is distribution (number of stakers) So: 20 users with 10coins staking each is better than 1 user with 200coins staking.

I've rethunked my initial statement about the new mns requiring more 8bit to run than 112 (which is current amount). I have to say I kind of dig having a lot of mns running at once it makes things interesting... how many will each mn require in new release? If it goes up to 1000 or something I only can run 1 :-S also, Will new 8bitd require 500 mb RAM still :-) ? That would be cool because I'm overflowing with it at this point.
This is still open question (current proposal of collateral is 1024 coins). There are two concurrent objectives: - security: cheap masternode means people will not stake what introduces a security issue for the network - fair distribution: expensive masternodes means only small group of people will collect great rewards However, it can be also balanced using block reward and MN/stake reward ratio (block reward - current proposal 1 coin [current value: 1.2], MN reward - 0.80 [current value: 0.88]). As we can see, inflation will be slightly reduced, though MN will be still much more profitable than staking. This effect is currently mitigated because of no MN payment enforcement, however, with a new code base those payments will be enforced and MN profitability will be stunning. What is not cool from network security perspective. Therefore - I keep this topic open and and I am looking forward for your (not only r8st) feedback. Some comparisons that perhaps are relevant (networks running well): PIVX - 1440 PIVX per day inflation : 90% block rewards seesaw algorithm stakers/masternodes : 10% developers Transfercoin - 9% inflation rate in coins : 50% stakers : 50% masternodes Both these networks have had reasonable stability. The ratio of stakers to masternodes seems to balance organically as the networks grow. For 8Bit, if MN rewards are high (~80% of block reward). This will likely result in high investment in masternodes >> price of the coin will go way up >> price of masternode will become too expensive for most people >> more people will begin staking coins. So probably at that point the distribution of stakers will increase and as a result network security will increase. @8-bit-party Does this provide relevant feedback or are you looking for something more specific? Also this is just some initial thoughts, I may be missing something. Please point out flaws if they are there.

I'm a coder and can help out with this coin if you need it.
Let's take up a quick challenge - please build your own pivx win64 executable using cross-compilation on ubuntu 16/17. The incoming release is forked from it, so if you are able to do it then, for sure, it's obvious we need you on board. Ok, sure. Which version of PIVX are you looking for? v3.0 and higher they have been experiencing a lot of problems. After the implementation of zerocoin protocol. v2.3.1 and earlier were a lot more stable

8-bit-party, can you get a github repo and slack or discord channel going?
I'm a coder and can help out with this coin if you need it.
There is already a slack: go8bit.slack.com But with slack you have to invite people with email now, probably because of all the spam in last months thanks for the link yes it is saying invite required, do you know who is admin of the group? can they send out an invite?

Guys, Devs, somebody please give last snapshot of working cryptopia chain, thank you.
It will be 30 minutes or so before fully uploaded, but here's a link (no permissions changes req'd): Current through yesterday, Nov. 2 2017. https://1drv.ms/f/s!AruK78uahXMyiutsTOCATdP-BKJBbw^^^^ @stasson4ik

It's a long time to go to this thread for watching Dev's action but I feel sorry for this coin because it's not listed on the bittrex exchange anymore. I used to trade 8bit coin on this exchange and it was quite interesting at that time . Why didn't Dev try to keep it on the bittrex ? it's a very good exchange which it can attract many big investors to join.
With a few upgrades and some community involvement this can be added on to many more exchanges, possibly including bittrex again. Moon time if that happens
