1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Claymore's ZCash/BTG GPU Miner v12.6 (Windows/Linux) on: February 01, 2018, 01:21:22 AM
Did some searching and haven't found anything.   Anyone have problems with more than 10 cards using 12.6.   Past 10 it seems to randomly drop a card from hashing and the card that's dropped changes each time the software is restarted.   I've tested this setup with Claymore ETH and Dual and all cards work successfully, but ZEC only allows 10 cards.  Anything past that seems to pull zero hash.

A little more info.  Win 10 Pro, 11 cards total.  7 Sapphire 580 Pulse, 3 Sapphire 580 Nitro, 1 XFX 580.  All 8GB cards.  All BIOS modded, and OCd as well.  Again no issues when running Claymore ETH and DUAL.

So I tried a few more tests.  I can load 10 cards in ZEC, but the 11th fails each time so I thought maybe I could load 10 in ZEC and 1 using ETH/DUAL.  That also fails.  10 will load but the 11th I get a DAG creation error.  It's almost like there's a limit of 10 set somewhere.   However if I try straight ETH/DUAL mining 11 cards work fine.

I'm pretty confused

OK figured it out.  I had the VM in Win set to 16GB but apparently that wasn't enough.   Upped it to 20GB, and now all cards load on start.  Hope this helps someone else if they get the same error.

Is it possible to delay all mining until DAG generation completes?  I have a GPU that's pretty touchy and if the mining starts before it's DAG is generated the GPU will never come up.  This causes the app to restart and sometimes crash.   I've used the serial options and tried to slow it down but that doesn't prevent the mining from starting before DAG generation on all cards.  Just a thought.

Thanks!

see the documentation:

-gser   this setting can improve stability on multi-GPU systems if miner hangs during startup. It serializes GPUs initalization routines. Use "-gser 1" to serailize some of routines and "-gser 2" to serialize all routines.
Using values higher than 2 allows you also to set custom delay between DAG generation on GPUs, for example, "-gser 5" means same as "-gser 2" and also adds 3sec delay between DAG generation (can be useful for buggy drivers and/or weak PSU).
Default value is "0" (no serialization, fast initialization).

i would recomment starting with -gser 3 to serialize it with 3 sec. delay.

if that doesnt help you can also try it with -lidag 2, which sets the intensity lower when DAG creation

Thanks for the response.   I've already tried the queuing options for serializing the startup including 'gser' and 'lidag'.  It's not that the card crashes during the DAG generation, but when mining starts before the DAG generation is completed.    The 'gser' option works to serialize the start, but it doesn't stop mining from starting before DAG is complete.

Any other thoughts?

Any chance you can put it out on Mega.nz or Google drive?  The VirusTotal link won't let you download.
5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ccminer 2.2.2 - opensource - GPL (tpruvot) on: November 22, 2017, 05:28:01 AM
I am a micro miner, one GPU card in my desktop computer, and no programmer, just an "end consumer".  I am using the precompiled windows 64 version of ccminer 2.2.2 from GitHub.  The miner works, but I am unable to increase the intensity level when scrypt mining.  No matter what intensity I set in the command line using the -i function, no matter where in the command line I put the -i function, and even though it initially assigns more threads, it then reverts to a different (?default) intensity a few lines down. My gpu doesn't even warm up, and the hash rate is low.  Rather than overclocking my GPU, I would prefer to increase the intensity so that it works harder.  How do I get it to actually run with the intensity settings I want? This is what I see:

D:\ccminer-x64-2.2.2-cuda9>ccminer-x64 -a scrypt -o stratum+tcp://us.multipool.us:XXX -u theXXX.1 -p XXX -i 14.99

I XXX'd out the actual pool, worker name, password, but you can see where I attempted to set the intensity to 14.99 in the command line, was assigned extra threads, then lower down the intensity was changed to 12.0313 with only a fraction of the threads.  I have also tried with setting the T levels myself in advance, so that the auto-tuning does not occur, same result. Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

Did you ever find a resolution on this?  I'm running into the same issue with 2.2.2.   -i flag doesn't seem to hold and you can't shut off autotune in the Windows version.

Agreed totally.  Coinmine.pl is far better than the default and you can mine OC.
