1  Economy / Speculation / Re: The reason why I'm invested in Bitcoin. on: July 08, 2013, 05:10:46 AM
Selling all my BTC first thing in the morning..
2  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: PSA - Dwolla even worse than Paypal for accepting payments on: July 08, 2013, 02:20:51 AM
I say that Dwolla is even worse than Paypal, becuase at least Paypal gives you some recourse and tries to figure out who is at fault when there's a problem.

Wrong.. When you get PayPalFucked, you get no recourse either.. They got me for over $5k.. and only after valid, written threats of legal action did they do anything..  I refuse to use Paypal again.. After reading this i'm thinking twice now about Dwolla..

But.. why can an exchange like CampBX use Dwolla for selling BTC, but not you or me?
3  Economy / Service Discussion / Big Selloff = CampBX down? on: July 05, 2013, 07:48:02 PM
Does CampBX always go down when things get exciting?   Angry
4  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is it a total scam? The "5 Bitcoin Independence Day Raffle !" on: July 04, 2013, 04:59:04 PM
I hate to be a wet blanket, but ".5 btc bode rdeem@mtgox.com" looks like a description (of the key file?) ending in an email address, which, obviously will end in .com ... many Windows computers may confuse this to be an old "MS DOS" COM executable file..
if you forward the message/file to me I will take a look.. I'm on a Mac so I'm not worried about your silly virii & trojans.. (although i will still be careful  Roll Eyes  )
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The general population is insanely ignorant about Bitcoin - and here's proof. on: July 03, 2013, 08:43:45 PM
of course they are ignorant/don't understand/are frightened of it.. it's new, it's 'techy' and it's radically different from anything we've ever had before.. what did you expect?
I remember when I tried to explain to someone about P2P music sharing back in 1998 or so.. he said something like:
...every cassette tape you put into your tape-deck actually exists. You could trade that cassette with someone and for an 8-track, that you could then take to the music-store and exchange for a vinyl album if you wish.  That p2p/digital music doesnt exist anywhere and could vanish instantly. It will never catch on...

7  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BitMinter says 0Mhps ... Why? on: July 01, 2013, 06:37:33 PM
"low"? or "no hashrate" ?
The Java client on each machine shows 60-75Mhps..  so I would not expect to see "0" on the website.. or, am I misunderstanding what I should be seeing?
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: More Evidence Paypal (eBay) hates Bitcoin on: July 01, 2013, 04:57:50 PM
eBay and Paypal are a den of thieves and liars..
9  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BitMinter says 0Mhps ... Why? on: July 01, 2013, 02:18:36 PM
I'm not sure this is the issue since i'm not getting question marks, and i'm seeing the 0mhps with a fresh login...
10  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Best hardware for $200-$300 ? on: July 01, 2013, 03:54:19 AM
probably go back to your Cave dwellings they are tons of information you couldn't bother to read.

Hey thanks for that very thoughtful and helpful tidbit of knowledge.. I have read through much here in the forum, and since I clearly have more of a social life than you, I don't understand it all (because I'm out having a life and such..).  Thus, I came here to ask the helpful group for help and advice.. Others have risen to the occasion.. You have failed miserably..  But it was entertaining so for that, I thank you..

11  Bitcoin / Hardware / Best hardware for $200-$300 ? on: July 01, 2013, 02:37:16 AM
I'm just getting into BTC and mining, and figured I could plunk down a few hundred$$ of my hobby money on a ASIC (or other) hardware solution.  I was all ready to throw all of my money at Butterfly Labs, but I dont really feel like waiting a year.. I'm also not to keen on what I'm reading about their quality of customer support..
So, what other all-in-one solutions are out there in the sub $500 range?  And no, i am not interested in building my own PC based kludge..
12  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of the Real Bitcoin Economy on: July 01, 2013, 02:32:47 AM
I am new to Bitcoin so I feel uniquely qualified to add my 02uBTC.
Until the use of Bitcoin is as fast and easy as something like Paypal, it cannot catch on with 'regular' people.  Right now it is just too confusing, difficult and slow.

Paypal! That gave me a good laugh.

If you login to your Paypal account through a VPN, you account is AUTOMATICALLY locked for 24 hours +. Every time.

Paypal doesn't have 2 factor authentication, and they can and do freeze your account at any time for arbitrary reasons.

Paypal isn't the standard of excellence, they serve as an example of how NOT to run a payment system.

Don't get me wrong Mr Froggy.. I hate paypal.. Paypal tried to screw me out of $5k a few years back and only gave it back after threats of legal action.. I now refuse to use paypal.
My reference was "fast and easy as something like Paypal" - as in, fast and easy for grandma to setup and start using..  Read it again and you may notice that nobody said anything about a standard of exellence or how to run a payment system.. Not sure where you dreamt that up from.. But.. Yah..
13  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BitMinter says 0Mhps ... Why? on: July 01, 2013, 02:26:08 AM
Thank you..  I'm not seeing the question marks though..
So, even if the website session times out, the java client is still hashing right? Huh

Make it easy so anyone can use it (as I mentioned earlier)..
Get the porn industry to adopt it...
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: State of the Real Bitcoin Economy on: June 30, 2013, 05:47:19 PM
Right now it is just too confusing, difficult and slow.

Can't agree with that - I pay for my VPS using Bitcoin - takes only seconds and is easier than any other way I've ever done a payment over the internet (and costs me no intermediate fees).

How long did it take you to figure out that you could do that?
How long/confusing was it to fund your wallet?
How much research did it take for you to find/configure your wallet?
How long would it take for you to explain all of this to grandma, and Suzy in accounting? And would they be able to have it all setup, and be buying things in 10 minutes.. Like with PayPal?
