Unless you have lots of capital and balls of steel, I strongly recommend against shorting bitcoin.
I would have to agree unless you have very tight stops in place...and even then a stop doesn't protect you if the price gaps up. There is an old adage about never attempting to catch a falling knife (buying during a collapse); the same can be said about trying to stop a rocket (shorting during a bubble). (...) The blockchain could become 1000x smaller making it possible to run full nodes in low-power devices. I mean, that would be something.
Could someone explain in simple terms why that would compress the blockchain? I see how it could hide amounts and identity, but the only effect I see on the blockchain would be to make it larger. I must be missing something obvious.  |

in the past we've seen a gap of as little as 50c between bitstamp and gox, so i expect this time won't be different, although stretched out over a longer timespan due to bitstamps lower volume
