1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I don’t like the term “crypto” on: May 02, 2024, 07:36:53 AM
If Satoshi would've named it CryptoCoin instead of bitcoin, we wouldn't be having this discussion.  Satoshi is wise in so many ways.

About this locked account reminds me of the incident of my account being locked which I am now using.
Because I forgot the password then I reset it using a secret question, but after that the account was locked.

Hi taufik123,
My account predates the implementation of secret questions, it seems, so I was unable to request a password reset using secret question.
I did send email as you show to request for recovery help.
I will wait for a reply.

Thank You for giving me details on your case and good outcome.

I don't know if that account is so important to you, it's a member account. You can move your current account to member with update discussions if you wish.
I suggest that the reason why your account wasn't recovered for you is that I looks like a scam account. Take a look at your signature and see what's in it.

If I don't return your test transfer, it must be having issues still.

uchegod-21 I've followed the process to request recovery of my original account.

Being able to write from my original account is important to me because bitcointalk is where all began and it has my contributions to this forum since 2013, small as they may have been, they are important to me.

I take exception to how quick you accuse my account of being a "scam account".  In early bitcoin days, members often posted our bitcoin addresses in the signature looking for tips & donations with clever/playful messages.  I don't recall anyone from those days complaining about my signature or the content I posted with allegations of staging a scam.  It's sarcasm/joke and I'm openly warning coins sent won't be returned, not quite how scammers operate. Should a moderator request it, I'd happily reword it. When I regain access, I may also include my lightning address.

The process for "forgot password" is not successful.  The account seems to be locked.

As suggested by Haznik above, I have sent a request for account help to the email and process described here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

It says if the account was hacked or other issues, to send to that email node.  My account was not hacked.  Instead, my understanding is there was some sitewide issue, and bitcointalk required all affected users to proactively do something to recover their account, and there was a time-limit to completing this.  At the time I was not active on this site and missed the window.

I wrote using the email used in my dominicus account and included a signed message linked to the bitcoin account listed on my last (unedited) post.

I'm hopeful this time I will be able come back and post with my legacy bitcointalk account.

Look at the bottom left of this page, right below this my comment (if it is still the most recent one when you see this). You should see 'move topic' and 'lock topic'. Click to move and then search for Meta.

Thank You, I found the link on bottom left.  Meta is in the "Other" section. I tried the link to move, yet 'Meta' is not listed in the pull-down menu of options to move to.  Only its child sub-sections "New forum software" and "Bitcoin Wiki".

I appreciate the replies.

I don't know how I can "move" my initial post to the Meta discussion section.  Do you mean start a brand new post with the same inquiry in the Meta section, or is that note intended for moderators?

My original username is dominicus

Hazink shared the link on how to recover the account, maybe try redoing the account recovery process again
OK, I will try this again.

I took time off from bitcoin (and bitcointalk.org) 2015-2016, and later got distracted chatting bitcoin on Reddit. When I tried to log back into my bitcointalk account ~2017, my credentials did not work and I was not able to request a password reset.

My email has not changed since then.

Thank You all for the replies!  I'm really hopeful to post again here using my legacy account.

I'm hopeful I can get an admin to help me unlock my original bitcointalk account.
My account was locked after a hacking event in bitcointalk several years ago.  I missed the window to reset the password for my account, and by the time I returned to bitcointalk I learned I was locked out.
I created this new account in 2017 to be able to communicate with bitcointalk admins.
Late 2017 I emailed Theymos, and later also followed an authentication process sending private bitcointalk message from this account to Cyrus where I included an bitcoin-encrypted message that included the bitcoin address included in my postings, yet I never received a reply from Cyrus.

I'm hopeful an admin can direct me on how I can regain access to my original account I created 2013.

Just try for a few times. After 4 tries my LTC went through.

I must've tried 30 times to withdraw while I waited on their cust srvc phone line....after exactly 2hr on hold, an automated voice came on "we won't be able to assist you..." and dropped the call.
But hey! it's an improvement over MtGox, in the sense they have a phone to call and the elevator music won't make you puke.... glad to read others are getting their coins out.

Edit: signed out of GDAX, back in, and tried the withdrawal shortly after logging in...went through.

Hi Guys.

Are any or all of you NOT using google authenticator app on your phone? Trying to figure out if that's a common theme in this thread. I am having the same problem with no google authenticator app. Trying to see if installing it fixes it.

I'm having the same issues "You've reached the maximum number of sends per hour", when I haven't done any withdrawals ever.  Neither lack of 2FA, nor ETH is the common thread, since I'm trying to withdraw airdropped BCH.
