1  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 24, 2018, 08:23:05 PM
Still profitable to mine with S9?

I shut down my S9 becos the power bill is a killer...

Shut down my S9's as well a week ago.
Currently one S9 mining generating - $0.44/day loss
 Undecided

Only reason my 3 are still hashing is that I finally got my solar turned on 2 weeks ago.

Anybody come across this issue? When AM switches my ASICS over to Slush pool, I don’t get full hashing power. Often 75% or less. I have to manually restart the miners in AM and they come back full. They always read as if they are hashing correct in AM, but not on my Slush dashboard. Other pools work fine when AM switches me over to them

"Bitminter now has version-rolling ASICBoost support on all mining servers.

This means your DragonMint miners, and other future ASICBoost miners, will run full speed on Bitminter.

A big thanks to philipma1957 for helping with testing - it is much appreciated!

I believe we are the fourth pool to add this. It is still not supported by most pools."

Waiting for the S9 hack for this!

So far there is no indication that there is a better chip coming out. There are only rumors of improved models to be underway.

BTC-ASIC is located in the same city with close contacts to the manufacturer and so far the S9 with the 16nm technology is the best. Available at our shop:

http://b-asic.io/product/antminer-s9/

Great time for buyers! Dont miss it  Wink

lol and why would anyone pay those ridiculous prices?
6  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: March 23, 2018, 03:36:54 PM
Guys, I am confused  Huh

Antminer S9 14 TH/s batch is already sold out...like in 1 day.

What I don't get is why the demand is so high  Undecided

Look:

1) BTC is currently trading $8500
2) Antminer S9 14 TH/s price with APW3++ is $1864. With delivery costs and taxes that's about $2000
3) Antminer S9 currently produces about 0.001 BTC per day. That's 0,03 BTC per month. Taking into account difficulty growth Antminer S9 will produce during its life 0,03 BTC * (1 + Monthly difficulty growth) / Monthly difficulty growth (since its infinitely decreasing geometric progression)
4) Average monthly difficulty growth
- in 2017 was 17%
- in 1Q 2018 is 23%
5) So with let's say 18% monthly difficulty growth Antminer S9 will produce 0,03 BTC * (1 + 18%) / 18% = 0,197 BTC during its life
6) But now for the cost of equipment ($2000) you can buy $2000 / $8500 = 0,235 BTC

So you can get 0,235 BTC now or buy ASIC and get 0,197 BTC in like 2-3 years.

Whats the point? Why are people buying Mining equipment now?

Maybe I am wrong somewhere?

I don't account for transactions conformation fee. Is it large? How much in fees you get for one Antminer S9?

Per     Pool Fee           Est. Rewards   Rev. BTC   Rev. $   Cost            Profit

Month 0.000000   0.031014           0.031014   $259.15   $98.64    $160.51
Year     0.000000   0.377333           0.377333   $3,153.00   $1,200.12    $1,952.88

With 2k USD today you can buy 0.23770460 BTC and sell is when it raises with 1,952.88 usd so that you can be happy you got more than miners will ever do for an year Smiley

Because you are not taking into account the resale value of the miner. While it is going down a little every day, IT IS NOT 0.

So I’ve been pretty pissed about paying $2750 for my 3rd S9 when my 1st 2 we’re only $1415 each. But I have now realized that not only does she average over 14 th/s, but IS SUPER QUIET! I’m reading 62 dB right next to her while my others come in around 82db on average. Anyone else see these results? The new k e has the Sunon fan not the Yate Loons.

That cant be right. 62 DB is still pretty noisy but I believe your DB meter isnt properly calibrated. By right, when u put machines together, the noise amplifies itself to become louder.

Just retested. Same meter, without moving it. Just measured about 84-85 with old S9’s and 68 on the new. Had the meter 6 inches at most from intake fans. Miners are side by side by side and I measured 1 at a time. It is extremely notably quieter and running great.

Did any of you receive 1a 13Th miner instead of 13.5 for march batch?
one of the S9s is running at 600 frequency instead of 620sh - 630sh and averaging at 13040

My April S9 avgerages 13.99

Picked up my Feb batch S9 from UPS yesterday and they forgot to charge me for the customs fees. That's a $110 win in my book!

Is it just me? or is SHA256 doing amazingly well right now? Awesomeminer is showing $152/day on an Antminer S9
Not that I'm complaining, just want to make sure its not some API bug
Awesomeminer also shows me $152/day.
Must be a bug, because I'm mining on zpool from 3 hrs and the results are not as I would get $152/day.

It's back to correct estimates now

When was your order date?

Back in JAN, Shipping Feb End but was shipped early

My Feb 21-28 batch arrives tomorrow

Same for me - AM just switched over to Zpool showing $157 a day on each S9. Must be a bug I can't be this lucky lol

As I mentioned in the post above, the network hashrate has doubled in the last 2 months, and it is growing even faster now, much faster. So how long do you think an S9 will remain profitable for?
Just do the math!

What if the price of BTC will be $30k be the end of the year? Means the $400 I made from machine this month will be $2k? "Do the math!" lol

Yep, but under that scenario you're still better investing the money you pay for a miner directly into bitcoin now, if all you're banking on is BTC value to go up.
In a year's time you'll be left with more BTC (valued at $30k),

You do the math, how much BTC can you buy now for the price of a miner? Will it make that much BTC this year? The answer should be obvious.

This is like trying to convince an options trader to just buy the underlying stock because the options MAY expire worthless. What you fail to grasp is that yes, we know the S9 will eventually become worthless. HOWEVER, that is only if we decide to hold them long enough that they are impossible to sell. I for one plan on selling them before that. I will mine with them long after a new model is out though, yet still be able to sell them. Will I get less than I paid? Probably. But it will still be more than 0 which negates any and all ROI calculations in my opinion.

Even more importantly, again just like in options trading, my downside is limited to my investment in hardware. My upside is potentially limitless by mining and hodl'ing. My upside is exponentially greater by mining than it is buying btc outright. And I will still own hardware with a value.

but my point is that I will receive my Ant miners in next few days and there is a massive demand in my City and people are willing to 5K  each, If I were to sell them now for 5K each and buy BTC since it's low and hold for a long time, I think I would profit more then actually mining..

Everyone's situation is different. Maybe keep some and sell some to hedge your bets.

Alright, my friend decided he wanted to sell the shrouds rather than put the file up on Thingverse. For those waiting for the file, sorry I have to respect my friend's wishes Sad

I will post a for sale link in the marketplace

Link?  I am interested in the 6"

20  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: January 31, 2018, 04:02:41 AM

I bristle every time someone suggests Bitmain uses the miners then sells them as new. Every one of mine have been new, if they were run for 30-60 days as urban legend says there'd be some sort of evidence. My urban-legend/theory is that people are buying from re-sellers and that is where this came from.

I couldn't agree more. There is no way my miners had been used before for anything more than QC testing, and I would be amazed if that even happened
