Hi Alain:

Sorry to hear you are also having problems. Since posting the original post I've received messages from several other people in the same situation. I am starting up a 'group' to explore our options for getting in touch with Jered and/or Tradehill and seeking legal counsel.

I've sent you a PM so you can join our efforts.

Anyone else who has not been able to recover funds from Jered Kenna and/or Tradehill then please PM me.

If anyone knows of legal counsel familiar with bitcoin, asset recovery, liens, etc then PM me please.

Thanks

In the US the decision of who pays for which utilities is agreed upon by the tenant and landlord and spelled out in the lease agreement.

In most cases the decision is based on how the unit is metered. If each unit has a separate meter then usually the tenant pays the bill. If there is one meter for multiple units then the owner pays the bill.

Regardless of the meter, in some cases the owner may choose to pay the bill and re-bill the tenant. In some jurisdictions, the utility provider may be able to impose a lien on a property if the bill goes unpaid. This is very common for water / sewage service. The issue is if the tenant doesn't pay the bill, then the utility then places a lien on the property. Some jurisdictions have strict rent control laws and so the tenant could go for years without paying the bill and the lien could be quite large.

Think about what you are trying to do. You are trying to monetize your access to free electricity.

Why not buy / rent adjacent building and feed the free power into the meter of the 2nd unit and collect money from your power agency? Basically setup something akin to a solar grid tie system, except you dont need the solar panels Smiley

Or why not start a business that is very sensitive to power pricing, like metal or glass recycling. Or maybe gas cylinder filling (hydrogen, co2, etc)... once you buy a compressor then the majority of the business expenses are covered by the free power.

Ok I just tried to post the transaction manually. I first did the suggested "decode" and that seemed to work, I dont understand the details of the JSON-like out, but there weren't any errors.

After posting the transaction, the website returned:

An outpoint is already spent [(97675055, 1), (97435242, 0), (97475290, 0), (97480163, 0), (97381466, 0), (97409916, 1), (97420573, 0)]

Looks like MtGox tried to double spend ?

Wow thanks what a great resource.

I found my transaction on the page. Confirmed that a transaction fee is paid (0.0005) and there aren't any 'flags' associated with the transaction.

When I click on the transaction ID, another page opens w/ the blockchain explorer. Unfortunately the explorer says the transaction ID is not found. I tried a few other transactions and they show up in the explorer, with high queues positions.

Most of the 'old' transactions on the page are also showing up in the blockchain explorer, while mine is not. Should I be concerned?

Going on 24 hours and the transfer of BTC to my wallet has not happened. I checked the blockchain for the address given to MtGox for the transfer and there hasn't been any activity.

Sent 2 service requests so far and haven't received a response.

Worst part is the BTC were IMMEDIATELY removed from my MtGox account... and they havent been sent to me yet.

I also paid the fee... going on 12 hours now.

When was the last time anyone sent btc out of mtgox and received confirmation? How long did it take?

I sent some BTC out about 8 hours ago, still no sight of them. Both my client and blockchain explorer show no transaction for the address used, but BTC already deducted from my mtgox account.

So no way to get fiat or BTC out of MtGox? Is Mtgox really a one-way street?

Anyone experiencing delays withdrawing BTC from mtgox (i.e. sending BTC to another wallet)... ?

15  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: getting USD out of mt gox.... best approach on: November 09, 2013, 06:46:21 PM
Also, thanks for the various comments about taxes. Unfortunately, I haven't made anything so it would be sad to see some artificial gain calculated when transferring BTC from one exchange to another. I have some USD in my MtGox account from a long time ago and want to get those funds back. A few years ago when I put the money into the account, it was straightforward to get the USD back out. Times have changed and now it seems MtGox makes it very difficult to back out funds.

Again thank you all for the suggestions, and of course additional suggestions are appreciated.

18  Economy / Service Discussion / getting USD out of mt gox.... best approach on: November 09, 2013, 07:40:02 AM
Hi,

I have some USD in my account at MtGox. I would like to get the USD into my hands, either cash or deposited in my US bank account.

From the MtGox website, it is not clear if they are still doing international wire transfers. If they are, anyone have recent experience that they can share?

I would also consider converting the USD to BTC and then transferring out to another vendor, then BTC->USD and finally USD->me. This method has two problems, 1 the current instability in BTC/USD exchange rate, and 2 the associated conversion fees.

Are there any other options? Does the MtGox redeem code system still exist? is that safe to trade?

If there are approaches best suited for different dollar amounts, then please include approx what amount is appropriate for the given method. I.e fixed based fees better for high value, percent fees better for low value.

And, lets say I go ahead and convert some of the USD to BTC. Then what is my best option for obtaining USD (in my bank/hands)? localbitcoin? bitcoin brokers?

Thanks.

Can you post the email address for the person you've communicated with?
I have tried Jered's email, Ryan's email, the 'info', 'claim' and 'support' emails without any success.
