2  Other / Off-topic / Cryptsy Facing Lawsuit on: October 24, 2014, 10:10:50 AM
Nah, guy alleges 'cryptsy' stole bitcoins from his account. Looks like he didn't have 2FA enabled, someone hacked his account and withdrew 240 btc or something like that. He's upset. The complaint is pretty 'meh'. I'm not sure why they didn't allege a claim for negligence but they've got an argument of fraud... Its pretty weak...

Bonus: If you send more than $1,000 in a day she'll need to come over to "ask you a few questions" (for AML/KYC purposes, of course).

It's opportunistic. Japan is searching for new economical opportunities. They thought about becoming a Bitcoin paradise, and they'll probably do it then. Good thing I'm living in Tokyo Wink.

6  Bitcoin / Press / [2014-10-24] Saxo Bank Event Panel: Block Chain Intriguing, Bitcoin a Fad on: October 24, 2014, 09:07:17 AM
https://www.coindesk.com/saxo-bank-event-panel-block-chain-intriguing-bitcoin-fad/

Bitcoin was labelled a "fad" yet also "interesting" in a panel discussion at Saxo Bank's Trading Debates event in central London yesterday.

Held in the British Library, the event was attended by more than 300 people from the world of traditional finance, including bankers, traders and other financial services professionals.

The panel discussion Fintech Boom – An Opportunity or a Threat for Financial Services? was moderated by Anna Irrera, trading and technology reporter at Financial News.

Panellist Javier Tordable, senior vice president at German derivatives exchange Eurex Exchange, tentatively labelled bitcoin a "fad" before clarifying he doesn't think much of it as an alternative currency, but believes in it as a method of storing and sharing data.
7  Bitcoin / Press / [2014-10-24] Payments Veterans Discuss Bitcoin vs Apple Pay at NY Law Conference on: October 24, 2014, 09:03:18 AM
http://www.coindesk.com/payments-veterans-apple-pay-bitcoin/

A common perspective that emerged is that while Apple Pay is not exactly innovative, it will encourage mainstream consumers to embrace mobile payments – a step that needs to take place if bitcoin will ever be more broadly adopted as a currency.

“I don’t think it’s ultimately going to be that transformative from a fees perspective or that it has the same transformative opportunities as bitcoin,” Binick said. “It’s just another player in the value chain rather than eliminating folks from the value chain.”

Almost $1.5m of bitcoins formerly held by cryptocurrency exchange Moolah have gone missing, after the exchange declared bankruptcy. The cash is believed to be in the personal wallet of the company’s founder and chief executive, Alex Green, who has not been heard from since Moolah went bust.

In the last public communication from Green on 19 October, he revealed that he was previously known as Ryan Kennedy until a name change by deed poll “in an attempt to start my life over and have some peace”.

As Kennedy, he had gained notoriety among communities including British fans of anime Japanese cartoons, as well as bitcoin investors, for a series of failed business ventures including Flirble, a web hosting service that ran for two months and Lemon, a bitcoin mining firm that shut down in 2013.

As alerted in an update following publication of yesterday’s analysis, bearish pressure has pulled the Bitcoin price into a deeper correction. The advance is on hold pending ongoing price correction. Most markets including Gold and equities are engaged in sudden counter-trend price movement – a condition that seems temporary.
