Nice 1, how much would you ask for it, if you were selling?
What else do you guys have?
BUMP
2  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Vanitygen Split key generation ? on: August 28, 2019, 12:23:42 PM
So what do you guys think what's is the value of this address? that is if we disregard the pk issue

Hard to say, that depends on your negotiation skill and the vanity address itself. I never see anyone attempt to sell vanity address with such length.

But if you don't mind some prediction with regression. Then with with data from bitcoinvanitygen.com and http://www.xuru.org/rt/TOC.asp (for regression tools) :
  • 7 char prefix - 0.0039 BTC
  • 8 char prefix - 0.0179 BTC
  • 9 char prefix - 0.0499 BTC

With linear regression we'd get y = 0.023 x - 0.1601 or 0.2309 BTC
With polynomial regression (degree 2), we'd get y = 0.009 x^2 - 0.121 x + 0.4099 or 0.9539 BTC

But since you already know the private key, then the value of the vanity address for others is 0BTC.
thanks  Grin
Today I tried creating some cool addresses, 8-9-10 prefix long, got 0 results ...
seems harder then I thought

I have really really powerful processor, but still after some research I see that i was very lucky to find prefix that long. $20 seems super cheap now, tell me what to do guys, I am not really an expert

Since you are in possession of the private key, the address isn't worth anything anymore to other people.

There is simply no way for them to be sure you won't use that private key to steal funds / sign messages in their name.

Btw.. a really really powerful processor would not be enough to generate a 17 char prefix within a year Wink
It wouldn't even be possible within your lifetime.

A 12 char prefix with a high end graphic card would take roughly 117.000 years on average. I really doubt you found a 17 char long with a 'really powerful processor'  Smiley
Listen buddy if we are going to talk to one another like that, this thread is leading nowhere.
I asked for an advice and all you do is trying to discredit me.
As I already said: "I have really really powerful processor, but still after some research I see that i was very lucky to find prefix that long", no reason to be so salty

I created it while I was mining, 17 long prefix.

you do know that the hash algorithm used in mining (which is double SHA256) has nothing to do with the hash algorithm used in generating an address (which is RIPEMD160 of SHA256), right?
even if it was an altcoin mining, none of them use HASH160 algorithm for mining! in other words hashes that you compute during mining are not the same algorithm, nor same value nor even the same length.
Yeah sorry for confusing you, mining is totally unrelated I was just refferring to that period in  time.

I have very awesome vanity address and some guy on another forum is offering me $20 for it,
I created it while I was mining, 17 long prefix.
it would be a pretty cheap address if you sell a 17 chars prefix vanity address for only $20
please tell us the address, and/or post it in Rare address hall of fame
if it is real word(s), you will be the owner of the known longest real-word prefix vanity address
and you need to sign a message with the address to prove you have its private key
Did not realize 17 char is so rare, how much is it worth?
I am avoiding sharing the address here because the buyer told me that if he sees it  anywhere online he will not buy. Now I am curious... Huh

I created it while I was mining, 17 long prefix.
Anyway without being able to secure it it's worthless I don't care about the $, I am sorry about the address
thx anyway boys

So if you already have the address generated it's too late?
shit that's what I thought Sad
ok thanks! I'll just use it as my own

You can still create different vanity addresses with the same prefix. If you are looking for generating a vanity address on your own, here is Step-by-Step Guide by 1miau or you can ask that guy to follow these instructions given by LoyceV in his Giveaway Thread

Quote
Instructions
I can just create an address, and send you the private key. This means you have to trust me, my computer, my cat, both our email clients, and by definition it can no longer be used for cold storage. So let's not. Instead, use split key:
Step 1: Goto https://www.bitaddress.org/ move your mouse/type in the field until it shows 100% and wait a second.
Step 1.5: Optional but highly recommended. Download the page, verify the download and run it locally*.
Step 2: Click Vanity Wallet click the Generate button next to Generate your "Step1 Key Pair"
Step 3: Reply to this thread with your public key and the prefix for your address. Save the private key somewhere safe. You will need it later when I generated your partial private key. Also, let me know if your preferred prefix is case sensitive, or any case is okay (the latter is much faster)
Step 4: Once you received your partial private key, go back to bitaddress.org and click on Vanity Wallet.
Step 5: Go to step 2 Calculate your vanity wallet. In the first field put the private key you saved and in the second field put the partial private key I gave you. Click Add and Calculate Vanity Wallet
Step 6: Copy the Vanity Private Key (WIF) and import it into your preferred wallet.
Credits to shorena for most of these instructions!
If something doesn't work as expected, have a look at this example.

Bro it would take me a year to generate it again Sad
Seems like I am f***ed

Hi guys! I couldn't find the answer anywhere, sorry if I failed to see it somehow...

I have very awesome vanity address and some guy on another forum is offering me $20 for it, I have only the address and private key, how can I sell it to him securely, he obviously can't just trust some random online person...

Huh

Thanks in advance
