1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: CoinMKT and DEA agent Carl Mark Force on: July 03, 2015, 04:59:08 PM
Since when does a non us exchange performs criminal record searches on its users ?

They are or at least were a Santa Monica California based exchange that was more recently taken over by ANX BTC out of Hong Kong.
I am quite sure the ANX takeover occurred quite a while after the incident with Agent Force.

Also I remember reading that the background checks were illegal, therefore they were NOT supposed to be doing them, because in most cases you need to get informed consent from whomever you plan to do a criminal background check legally, something that Agent Force would have no trouble doing without consent given his position with the DEA.

i found this thread on bitcointalk: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=315440.0
maybe you can ask the OP, or in that thread.

but you can not find a bitcoin address just by having the 8 first characters, that is for sure.

Quote
The 8-character code you see on the outside of the coin is the first eight characters of the Bitcoin address assigned specifically to that coin.  You can verify the coin's balance on Block Explorer.  There is a mathematical relationship between the Bitcoin address and the private key inside the coin. The digital bitcoin is actually located on the public "block chain" stored on the internet, but it is completely inaccessible to anyone unless the private key from the coin is loaded into a Bitcoin wallet.
