1  Other / Meta / Suggestion to require payment for users to rank up beyond member on: April 23, 2018, 09:22:19 AM
Taking off from diagran's suggestion:

I think if forum charges a fee per post to have your post count and activity increased and have no post count and activity increased if you are not paying a fee per post or one time fee like $200. all of the members with multiple accounts will stop posting like they are posting now. as long as posting is free and it earns them money, they will never stop.

I'm all for the forums being an open and friendly place to encourage new and old bitcoin users but the problem of spam has been getting out of hand (even after the introduction of activity and merit). What i'm proposing we discuss is the additional of a small fee that is required for users to rank up above the member rank. Many other forums implement this sort of payment system to regulate quality. This could be implemented in two (2) ways as listed below:

1. Fee be used to replace the merit system
2. Fee be used in addition to the merit system

Is this something that could be feasible? Fee could be low, subjectively enough to prove you are real. Fees could then be used to purchase better server hardware.
2  Other / Meta / Re: For forum nostalgics - how data show forum evolution on: April 23, 2018, 08:36:43 AM
I find it interesting to see that top posters like aamph posted 28,854 times since his/her account creation in 2013. That could mean he/she posted approximately 26 times DAILY. Thats a lot of time spent on the forums assuming it's not just spam posts written in 3 seconds.

I would find it interesting to hear from these top 9 on how the forum has affected their lives. Hopefully it's been profitable or fulfilling for them to do so.
3  Other / Meta / Re: Am I wrong to report these topics as "Low quality spambait topic. Read OP."? on: April 23, 2018, 07:13:12 AM
I understand the concern with locking some of the topics on your list because they are spam magnets.

Just a gentle reminder though, this is forum is a place to encourage anyone and everyone to participate and discuss bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general. By aggressively banning posts like these we risk becoming elitist jerks to newcomers and potential bitcoin users. I believe topics like these come with adoption and is something we must embrace.

My opinion is that questions whether silly or intelligent should be welcomed. An option we could consider is to move topics like these to the "beginner & help" forum. That way they won't be counted in signature campaigns (which will hopefully reduce the spam posted on them) and at the same time not be as offensive (to the poster) as getting your topic locked or deleted.
4  Other / Meta / Re: Copy Pasting Posts from websites is it ok? on: April 23, 2018, 03:03:06 AM
Sourcing it is fine. The rule indicates that the user in question is passing it off as their own. Citing a source ≠ plagiarism (unless there's improper citing).

Citing the source is one thing but copy/pasting should be assessed on a case-to-case basis.

I've seen some users simply copy pasting news articles on coindesk and pasting them here without any attempt at discussion at all. If this goes unchecked pretty soon you could have bots using forum keywords to search for online articles to copy paste here.

Hi bill, i appreciate your help with spreading the merits around. I was hoping you could review one of my posts as well:

6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Can an apw3 run 2 l3+rigs? on: April 19, 2018, 12:43:56 AM
So I know the apw3+ can handle 1600 watts on 220v, my question is can it run both l3+ miners if I use pcie splitters.  I know the numbers work but is that a bad idea?  Anybody try it?  If so can you recommend a quality spliter?

Technically, it should be able to. But i highly recommend that you not do it. PSU aren't supposed to be run at 100% of their advertised maximum load which is what you will be doing if you run 2 L3+s on a single APW3. Are you trying to save money? Because if that is your goal you will end up losing more money when your AP3 explodes. Just go and get 2 separate PSUs and not risk burning your own house down.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Being careful about how much power you run through power meters on: April 17, 2018, 08:56:59 AM
Another reason to not keep it on 24/7 is for savings. The power meter probably consumes a negligible amount but even at 1 watt per day, that is still money saved looking at the big picture (365 days a year).

thanks for waking me up in fact, the power meter could be melt and require a power consumption so far I never unplug the power meter and not aware even that device need a power.  Grin

My power meter doesen't consume electricity from the socket. It has it's own batteries.

Good for you mate, good for you. You deserve a star.
8  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Bitmain E3 Ethash Miner ASIC (Shipping:16-31 July. $800 USD) on: April 16, 2018, 09:05:57 AM
Got email from PandaMiner claiming they outperform E3  Smiley
----------------------
Dear miners:

Now PandaMiner have made the price adjustment, the cost exceed the ASIC E3. According to the comparison:

One more point, we support delivery in 7 working days, while E3 requires 3 month. Miners can gain a lot of mining profits during 3 month.

Price: $2508 per unit(PSU and shipping cost included)
Model:PandaMiner B3 Pro
GPU: AMD RX 470*8 cards
Delivery: 7 working days
Limited amount: 1000 units

Do not buy panda miners. They didn't tell you about the HIGHER power consumption.

That panda miner consumes about 1300W while bitmain's E3 consumes only 800W (and maybe even less when it is actually shipped). There is no logic at all in buying more expensive hardware that earns less money.

Sent you a PM.
10  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Its over guys on: March 31, 2018, 04:54:13 AM
Its far from over gentlemen. Its all about holding. All your loses are simply paper losses anyway. You never really lose until you sell.

Don't get eaten by the whales. Its far from over.
11  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Market stabilized? on: March 29, 2018, 10:47:11 PM
The market is far from being stabilized. It is a well-known fact that cryptocurrencies are extremely volatile.

I would wait for a few more years before even any sense of stability could be considered.
12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: My Portofolio for a X 20 min in 1 year on: March 29, 2018, 02:53:33 AM
I would sell all of those shitcoins and simply buy BITCOIN and ETHEREUM.

Can you explain why you bought those other coins? All of those are copy of the BIG 2.
13  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Twitter confirms restrictions for cryptocurrency ICOs ads on: March 29, 2018, 01:23:06 AM
This is OLD news. No need to keep spreading FUD about crypto. You are probably here because you have invested some. Help increase the value of OUR crypto and stop spreading FUD. This doesn't matter and does not affect development at all. Be part of the solution not the problem.
14  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase support the ERC20 token ! on: March 28, 2018, 01:35:12 AM
Is there even any shred of evidence that this is true? Do you even know what an ERC20 token is?

There are far too many shitty ETH tokens out there for this to ever be officially supported by coinbase.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: buying GPUs in Asia for US on: March 27, 2018, 07:35:31 AM
Sharing information based on experience, that article is outdated. GPUs prices in Asia have already gone up.

3 months ago you i got a few VEGAs at around $450 USD. Looking at local prices now, they're going at around $800 per piece. Buying in bulk doesn't help as well because most of the incoming units are already allocated. The fact that we're in such a dump right now might help tho, I can imagine that some buyers have called of their orders. Don't see why you would invest in some many GPUs at this point in time anyway.
16  Economy / Services / Re: ⭐️ PROFESSIONAL Ethereum TOKEN CREATION Service ⭐️ FREE Vouch Available! 🔥🔥🔥 on: March 15, 2018, 12:08:14 AM
Do you also verify token source?
I'm particularly interested in having official links on etherscan.

One of the comments on this imgur set:

Don't pay any attention to him. But your house could probably do better with more windows on the side and a roof that extends past the walls. You know, like a normal house roof.
18  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [fastminer] v1.0 released -- FREE ETH miner on: March 12, 2018, 03:09:12 AM
Why would i use this over claymore or phoenix?

Just because its "free" that doesn't mean its better and you haven't posted anything indicating this is better than what already exists.
In my opinion your incompetence with this thread post probably reflects your incompetence with miner's code.
19  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ethereum wallet on: December 26, 2017, 02:57:56 AM
just to get it right, you would recommend me not to use the https://www.ethereum.org/ wallet but the myetherwallet.com wallet?

The wallets in ethereum.org are downloadable wallets. On the other hand, myetherwallet is an online wallet you can use to receive and send ethereum. The nice thing is that you can even use it to transfer your wallet's "private keys" (your wallet password) into other wallets in the future.

Good job getting into Ethereum. You will surely earn a lot when its value rises.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: will the price of bch exceed the btc price? on: December 22, 2017, 03:18:54 AM
I can confidently say NO, NEVER.

The essence of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is that everything is DECENTRALIZED. With a coin like Bitcoin Cash which is being manipulated by shady people like Roger Ver or Jihan Wu, it is like you are buying their currency where the value will be dictated by what they do.

Would you trust your life savings on a business man who is in it for his own profit? Uh, NO, NEVER.
