1  Bitcoin / Mining support / CGMiner/Block Erupter Problem on: July 28, 2013, 10:49:22 PM
I recently picked up a few USB Block Erupters and they've been working great until the past few days. It seems that randomly CGMiner shows their hashrate in ph/s when they should be mh/s and when this happens the overall accepted shares amount freezes even though CGMiner also tells me each Block Erupter is still accepting shares. No hardware errors come up, and things keep running like they would normally except I know that it's not really mining because I checked my wallet and the shares that CGMiner says each USB is mining doesn't come up. I have to keep restarting CGMiner to get the Block Erupters back to their normal hashrate and to get the amount of overall accepted shares to go up again. The weird thing is my average hashrate still stays the same when this happens. What do I do?
2  Other / Beginners & Help / How to get an Ambric AM2040 FPGA Working? on: July 12, 2013, 11:24:51 PM
How do I set up my Ambric AM2040 FPGA board for bitcoin mining? I can't seem to get it to work. Here's a wiki link for the board: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambric
3  Other / Beginners & Help / Best/Cheapest 3rd Party Builder? on: July 09, 2013, 03:49:25 AM
I'm wondering what the best and cheapest solution is for 3rd party mining rig builders? It doesn't even have to be a company, just a single person would be fine I have a budget to spend on a rig.
4  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BFL Miner Delays? on: July 09, 2013, 03:17:33 AM
Yes there are very long delays.  I ordered with a friend in July of 2012, and we just got our 5GH Jalepenos this past week.  I have placed orders in March and June of 2013, and they are still listed as processing.  They must have a huge backlog.
In their defense, I work in Semiconductors also, and all their issues getting their products to market seem very very legitimate.  I've personally seen any and all of the same issues in my 10+ years of working in semiconductors.  Products are very very seldom released on first silicon.  First silicon is almost always simply for debugging, and samples, and seldom ever reaches the end consumer, let alone the customer.

That said, i'm very happy with the Jalepeno I have. It's been cruising along with cgminer 3.3.1 on ubuntu 13.04 for a few days and i'm pleased as heck with it.  It's been stable and much easier to manage than any of the last 9 months of GPU mining I"ve been trying.

You'll have to wait if you order now that is for sure, as I'm sure their backlog volume went up enormously during the bitcoin peaks earlier this year.

Good luck!

Well that sucks to hear. Are there any other ways to obtain these? I've tried ebay but the prices are WAY higher than normal and are still just pre-orders.

Are there still BFL miner delays when you order? One of my friends told me he's been waiting months to get his and I'm reluctant to order until its within 30 days.
6  Bitcoin / Mining support / How To Setup a BFL Mining Chip? on: July 07, 2013, 04:09:35 AM
I've purchased a BFL mining chip and now I would like to set it up into a mining rig. Are there any tutorials for how to set it up?

Can someone just explain to me how to set up this "board" and make a whole mining rig with that chip. It's something that interests me so I just wanna know how its done. I read on the forum about BFL and I don't know how to build one.

Do you just use it like a standard processor and build a computer around it or do is there somewhere you can plug it in?
No.

You have to build a board to use it.

How do I do that? Is there a good video tutorial out there?

I'm wondering how you use this product? Link: https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage-subproducts/65nm-asic-bitcoin-mining-chip.html Do you just use it like a standard processor and build a computer around it or do is there somewhere you can plug it in? I'm not that computer savvy so I'm confused about why you can order this.
10  Other / Beginners & Help / Just Starting Out Funds? on: July 03, 2013, 03:53:23 PM
Is there a way to not have to invest over 3k for a decent mining rig? Like maybe a way to just start out mining to make a very small profit and eventually work my way up to one of the bitcoin miners from butterfly labs or build my own 3k mining rig? My computer currently is built for gaming and has an nVidia card which I have learned really sucks at mining. What can I do?
11  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does Coinbase Work? on: July 03, 2013, 03:37:38 AM
I've done a few transactions, no problems at all.   Only gripe is it takes about 4 days or so, and their prices lag behind the exchanges quite a bit.   They have an API though, I set up an alert for when their buy or sell hits what I want.

So you don't get the money that it states on the site?
12  Other / Beginners & Help / Does Coinbase Work? on: July 03, 2013, 03:04:28 AM
I was thinking about using coinbase to sell bitcoins, and I was wondering if some has used it or is using it and could tell me if it works? I am skeptical about linking my bank account to it so I wanted to make sure its safe and they actually send you money when you make a sale. Thanks!
13  Other / Beginners & Help / Few Questions on: July 02, 2013, 11:42:50 PM
Hi, I am brand new to BitCoin and I just had a few questions about this whole thing.

1). I just started mining and I'm wondering if 49.0 Mhash/s is a good speed and will generate me a decent amount of bitcoins?

2). Is there a tutorial that explains all of these terms? (Like Mhash/s, BTC, etc.)

3). Is Mt Gox a good and safe place to sell bitcoins?

4). What mining software and wallet software do you recommend to a newbie?

Thanks in advance!
