Neocoin because there is a strong demand and it's not a clone coin but a coin with innovation and it's more than a simple cryptocurrency. Some people want to send messages that nobody can control like emails. In Neocoin, messages are directly stored in the block-chain and Encrypted.

Innovatives coins have a much better potential to grow. Neocoin is an innovative coin (not a clone as most of the altcoins) -> Instant Messages with Encryption (can replace centralized messages by email or IM) -> Automatic updates for security fixes -> Unique UI -> Chinese support http://neocoin.org

Sleep well at night, get notified when prices change! This application alerts you whenever the Bitcoin index reaches a value of your choosing (works with altcoins too) . Index values can be taken from MtGox, Bitstamp, Btc-e and other exchanges. By entering a High and a Low index value, you specify at which level you wish to be notified. When the index reaches either your high or your low threshold, a notification message with sound will be displayed immediately. A graph is also shown and will be updated every minute. Value will be green if the value has increased (compared to the previous value), red if it has decreased, or blue if the value hasn't changed. The application uses the Neocoin interface and it is a part of Neocoin. Download here: http://neocoin.org/download-neocoinNote: To enable this feature use the command line argument -marketExemple : neocoin-qt.exe -marketScreenshot:

Please remove "PhenixEx" from the list of exchanges. The owners ran away with the coins.
Done.

Neocoin is an innovative coin with unique features (message notifications with encryption, push technology, software update notification, real-time stock market, nec live converter, trade alerts, sounds, new animation, new rpc commands, unique reward system...) Main Features:- Scrypt
- Proof-Of-Work (POW) + Proof-Of-Stake (POS)
- 100 seconds block time
- Exponential moving average'difficulty/reward adjustment
-> Scarcity enforced by Moore's Law similar to ppcoin, mint rate gradually drops as difficulty rises, without sudden halving shock - Users can send instant messages with encryption within the client to another clients wallet

It's an interesting question indeed. I think it's not profitable for real developper with skills. They won't spend time on a project where their work is not respected and rewarded. This is why in 99% of cases, you only find clone coins with people who don't know how to program well and cause big bugs (various problems in the recent PoW/PoS coins for example). I wonder how devs behind projects like Netcoin and eMunie will launch their coin, and how they will premine it...
I think it's much more paying for devs to make sharewares or services for bitcoin where the market is well-established.

Don't be afraid of missing a spike or a dump!
Primecoin (XPM) added (btc-e)

|
sorry, a captcha cryptocurrency is not possible unless you figure this out
This is not possible if the coin is open source (reverse engineering will be easy), but it's possible with a closed source code. But if it's closed nobody will use it.
|
|
|
It's not a good idea, your coin will be open source, so after it's not difficult to reverse engineer a CAPTCHA.

Like Primecoin? Self-adjusting block reward – Bitcoin is known for its controlled currency supply algorithm, which guarantees that only 21 million bitcoins will ever be generated, as well as specifying the rate at which these bitcoins will come out. Primecoin follows a different path. The number of primecoins (XPM) released per block is always equal to 999 divided by the square of the difficulty, a formula which should converge to some maximum if the difficulty increases linearly. Given that Moore’s Law states that computing power increases exponentially, and the effort it takes to find a prime chain is exponential in its length, that is quite likely to hold true. It's similiar to PPcoin and Neocoin (Scarcity enforced by Moore's Law, mint rate gradually drops as difficulty rises).

I'm still behind 10 days. neocoind want not run without config. Are you writer of this fork? Where can I get right support about?
Indeed, if you run the server mode, you need a config file. There is no problem with synchronization, but delete* everything in the Neocoin data directory and it will download and re-index the blockchain. https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Data_directory
|
|
|
Could you share true config or check this: $ cat .neocoin/neocoin.conf rpcuser=username rpcpassword=password daemon=1 server=1 gen=0 testnet=0 listen=1
Is it true config? Yes, and it should run even without config file.

Neo8, Could you share config settings, I'm still out of date, about 10 days, and can not synchronize ./neocoind getinfo { "date" : "10/10/13 11:14:19", "version" : "v1.8.1-neocoin", "protocolversion" : 60008, "walletversion" : 60000, "balance" : 0.00000000, "newmint" : 0.00000000, "stake" : 0.00000000, "blocks" : 37891, "moneysupply" : 1967622.44212500, "connections" : 4, "proxy" : "", "ip" : "128.73.179.238", "difficulty" : 0.63815802, "reward" : 44, "testnet" : false, "keypoololdest" : 1381383159, "keypoolsize" : 101, "paytxfee" : 0.01000000, "errors" : "This is a pre-release test build - use at your own risk - do not use for mining or merchant applications." } My diff is 930216 s = 10 d. I'm up-to-date, build from scratch https://github.com/neocoin-project/neocoin.git$ git pull Already up-to-date.
My config looks like: ~$ cat .neocoin/neocoin.conf rpcuser=username rpcpassword=password rpcport=8000 daemon=1 server=1 maxconnections=100 gen=0 testnet=0 listen=1
addnode=82.243.98.236:58405 addnode=184.88.62.170:49239 addnode=109.102.106.183:58717 addnode=204.236.231.155:60137 addnode=litepool.eu addnode=193.16.101.186:52347 addnode=92.234.200.27:9880 addnode=76.208.146.27:58888 addnode=88.82.177.234:55535
Please, share correct config file in the first message. I'm not sure which ports are correctly, is it true: rpcport=8000 port=8001 ? Or network under kind of attack? Why can't i complete synchronization? There is no problem with synchronisation but your config file is wrong. Delete* everything in the Neocoin data directory and Remove all nodes in your config file, you do not need add nodes.

There is no market for altcoins, especially for clone coins.
Bitcoin found its way into mainstream use, people have reasons to carry it, but there is no ask for other coins except for pumps and dumps and scams...
However, I think there is a great growth for niches that might be available.
For example, it's now impossible to compete with Google in a global market, but there are local search engines more popular (e.g., Baidu in China, Daum in Korean, Yandex in Russia etc.).

PPCoin and Primecoin added.

Hey Neo8
Could you please make a volume bar where we could set how loud alerts are? It is a bit annoying to have them at 100% loudness without ability to decrease the volume.
It will be fixed in a next release and new altcoins will be added. Though, it's useful to have loud alerts when bitcoin is crashing...
