1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining Farm Startup on: December 06, 2017, 12:21:44 AM
Lol, what's with the toxicity of this community sometimes, if you don't wanna support it then...just don't. Rather than complaining about it as though he just asked you for your life savings.
2  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: SEC Cyber Unit begins freezing ICO assets on: December 04, 2017, 06:11:53 PM
It seems almost inevitable that ICOs will be increasingly regulated and secured from scams over the coming months.

I mean it's the premise of how the ICO functions that allows for these "scams." If you bottleneck it - then you are suddenly bottlenecking all the good projects that depend on that same ecosystem to function.
3  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IOTA - right time to invest or wait? on: December 04, 2017, 05:44:30 PM
I'll second what other's are saying - the kind of growth that IOTA has had over the last bit is unsustainable and it will have to undergo a correction. Be patient and profit.
4  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are ICOs scam? on: December 04, 2017, 05:19:02 PM
No one word answer to this one.

While ICOs allow for easy dump schemes, there are some genuine projects. Essentially it is a situation where amidst a largely negative dominated ecosystem - there is the small, but relevant, amount of positive projects depending on the existence of that ecosystem for vitality.

I would advise you to do research on a case by case basis and just look at individual ICO projects and try to apply something like Charlie Munger's two-track analysis when making a decision.

5  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum price in future on: December 01, 2017, 11:50:28 PM
Now ETH price around 500$.Will ETH price reach 1000$ in 2018 Jan Huh
Where are you come from? The average price for each ethereum token in this time was around $440 that means there is a lot of gap with your price. may be you are seeing it on the speculation thread.
I will believe at the end of the 2018 each ethereum will be equal with the bitcoin cash price due to the POS system.
Sorry, but why can this POS system make the price of ethereum that high? I can only see one reason like, because of this POS system, more people wiould like to hold this altcoin making the price to rise. But if that's so, it should be happening now.

Let me chime in here.

The price will really at the end of the day be dictated by Demand and Supply.
1.With the release of Proof of Stake - we are limiting the total coin pool inflation to only x% (likely single digits) per year.
2.Adoption. Currently, the ETH Enterprise Alliance features very big perspective players - but they're not going all in for one reason, right now, the operating cost is not the most sustainable due to the high fees miners (needed to run the network) have to pay for electricity and the proportional compensation that they then have to get from the network. Releasing PoS, we eliminate the need for mining, making the system: A. Inexpensive to operate, B. Improved operational capacity (through new innovative tech advance over the current consensus algorithm.) This means, we will have several elements at play here: i. Adoption, ii. Speculative Agitation, iii. Resulting Market Interest.

So, TLDR: Limited Supply (Lower), Far more Demand (Higher). What happens when Demand overtakes Supply? That I'll let you answer for yourself.
6  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Realistic ROI on: December 01, 2017, 11:04:20 PM
When I was telling my wife about cryptocurrency and how I think its a good investment, she asked me an interesting question. What percent return should one expect in a year? Lets say one decides to put $10,000 in...if it were the stock market, and that person is diversified, it would be reasonable to assume a 6-8 percent return for the average investor on an average year. I realize its hard to determine what "well diversified" means in crypto, but lets say 75% mixed with ETH, LTC, BTC and the other 25% in a mix of top 10 (NEO, Ripple etc). Clearly 2017 saw tremendous returns on these coins, but its not realistic to assume 2018 will also bring over 1000% returns like this year. I know there isn't much historical data to pull from, but just wondering what you guys think is a reasonable expectation (not to the moon as some say!)
So if one put $10,000 in on January 1 2018 in my model of diversification (i.e. someone new to the game who isn't going to buy ICO's and speculative coins), what do you see their balance being December 31, 2018?
Looking forward to hear everyones thoughts!

In terms of sheer portfolio growth - no one can predict it or even give you the vaguest numerical estimate. Do some research on the technology behind some of these coins and find one that you just really believe in (they say invest in what you know for a reason.) For example: I personally think ETH is a disruptor and has crazy potential due to it's unique positioning.

Mining, I can tell you that I'm getting on average 2.5-3.2% Monthly ROI (after power, cooling, depreciation of hardware, tax and etc...factored in) here in Canada. BUT, with ETH for example, you will need at-least $200K+ to make it a viable income, it will require quite a lot of time at that point as well so be prepared. But, at that monetary scale, it's a huge risk for ETH specifically as having a 30% (CCA quoted) depreciation rate gives you a 3 year financial lifespan per rig to squeeze out the 90%+ ROI and Casper is due in late 2018 and who knows if we will have a viable mining alternative besides UBQ because PoS is far more beneficial for most coins in terms of technological advance. Of course, you can also foot the bill for Power (+ longterm liability for depreciation of equipment) and simply amass the coins, let portfolio grow in value and then participate in PoS (in respect to ETH of course.) I'm not too sure what the rates on BTC are like with equipment and all else, so I'll let someone else chime in there.
7  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]INNOVA - when security is the main focus. ASIC resistance. Neoscrypt coin. on: December 01, 2017, 10:26:47 PM
Look I love that you guys are trying to do something grande as a small team of developers, but, this doesn't change the fact that you've implemented nothing new with the coin. All of the features you've listed on here (Darksend, InstaX, Spork etc...) exist in 100% of the other Scrypt coins supporting Masternodes. (VIVO? XIOS? Shall I keep going?)

I own quite a few Masternodes on the network and still have hopes that you guys are planning to legitimately do a single thing to technologically set yourselves apart. Right now - you're making all these claims about being "an innovative and adaptive new age cryptocurrency" but really- so far you've done nothing except make a fork, change names, change images, compile a genesis block, compile (prebuilt) wallet files, premine, make a website and announce it.

So, with all that being said - what's the plan?

Please, let me do your research for you.

http://innovacoin.info/development-roadmap/

And it's a neoscrypt coin.

Have you read it yourself?

They mention z.e.r.o (0) technological advances for one, and for two, the only potentially original point they have is the marketplace exclusively for INN (oh wait, just kidding, a tonne of other tokens/coins + cryptopia have that.) So, back to square zero...they claim they're the most advanced and orignal, so far only forked Dash

What I'm interested in is having the developers weight in with a convincing business plan or technological road map.

Also for your reference, Neoscrypt is literally Scrypt + Salsa20/20, ChaCha20/20, BLAKE2s and FastKDF baked in for ASIC resistance (I may not be entirely correct on how these play together so I'll leave it at that.) It's like you're saying that "a BMW isn't a car, it's a BMW" - like it's suddenly it's own class of existence.

Now mind you, the developers seem to have some degree of ambition here, and I hope that they can somehow come up with an IDEA of how they want to differentiate themselves from any other neoscrypt/scrypt/x11 forks besides a logo, block reward and name change on a compiled source.

Oh hey, I found your entire whitepaper in the whitepaper of the coin you forked...nice one.

We don?t want this coin to be like other coins, that you can only find in exchanges, and only be used to exchange with bitcoin.

I have two separate nodes on the network.
But they keep turning off after a while.

I unlock walet ( staking only off) then start masternode, come back in a while (random time) and they're off.

Driving me nuts, can someone point me in the right direction?

For some reason, if I don't leave my host computer on with my wallet running my MN shuts off, even though my VPS is running. I don't think you can fix it, I think it's a development issue.

My host computer is on 24/7 it just seems to drop the Node from the network after a few minutes to a few hours, I think this might be sentinel not working with XIOS source.

If anyone has any info - chime in please.
